I know you guys are confused with the dialogues, I've tried making them clear but old habits die hard. That's the way I write and it's so hard changing writing styles. I don't mix dialogues in a paragraph. Usually it's one person's dialogue spaced with pauses and actions. If it's a follow on dialogue it'd be attached to the same paragraph, a new sentence, a new paragraph is a dialogue by a different person. DOES THAT MAKE SENSE? (ie. 'I'm still younger than you.' She flicked her hair and then rubbed her stomach, 'I want cake' She pouted throwing another strawberry at him. THAT'S ALL Zoya's LINES!) Sorry! Anyways another long update, sorry for the delay. I have exams coming and I'm trying hard. Maybe one more update before I disappear for a bit. Will try finishing asap!

Chapter Eleven
'What do you know about Ahsaan's death?' An impatient Ayaat tapped her phone; she smiled at Zain who glanced at her while driving. She closed her eyes and sent the message.
'Patience darling. Wouldn't you like to know why your parents seperated first?' A reply came. Ayaat read over the message and sighed. She started thinking, Tanveer killed Ahsaan. But why, what enmity did she have with my Ammi?
You're so stupid Ayaat, she must've been the reason for your parents separating why else. Jealousy? She mentally hit her head against a wall for being so stupid. Why has she never thought that Tanveer could be responsible for more than one incident?
'It was Tanveer. Tell me something I don't know' She typed unsure. She thought about it for a moment.
'I'm damn sure' She spoke out loud pressing the send button.
'About what?' Asked Sofia. Ayaat was snapped out of her thoughts.
'Huh? I mean we'll have a good time' Ayaat spoke hesitantly,
'You don't sound sure though' Teased Zain.
'We're not all confident speakers like you' Snapped Ayaat.
'Okaay chill. He's joking' Asim interrupted before they started another war in the car. They sure did fight a lot for a couple who was supposed to be deep in love.
'Beta, how long will you be. I'm tired already' Dilshad asked. 'I don't know why you lot are dragging me along to a cocktail party. I would've attended the wedding and walima like all the other old people'
'Oh ho, bas daadi. You are still young. And Mrs Faiza wants you there for the sangeet. Aren't you old friends?' Asked Zain, Dilshad nodded. 'Will you salsa with me?' He winked in the rear view mirror.
'Naughty kid. I don't think I can move two steps, forget doing salsa' Dilshad hid her face.
'Sofia, you've been practicing right? I want you to dance today' Ayaat turned her head laughing,
'I'm not dancing at all with anyone. I can't dance bhaji.' Sofia hid behind Asim's arm.
'She can dance Ayaat. She's been practicing with me. Don't worry, I'll make her dance' Winked Asim before staring at his phone.
'Your information better be right. We need this to work. Any update on those hospital reports you were talking about? What are they hiding?'
'What's your plan? And no. They were private and confidential. I wasn't allowed despite being from the same household. I think only Zain and Ayaat know about it. I'll try and find out what they're hiding' Asim texted back.
'Hurry up getting info on Ayaat. Dont worry about the plan, I'll tell you when it works. Is the old woman with you?
I still don't have those DZ Connect files. As soon as we have those, you can put your plan to action. I'll meet you to give you the other documents' Tanveer texted back.
'Yes she is. Don't harm anyone Mama. Our target is only AAK. Who's getting you those documents?'
'An old accomplice. :) X' Asim stared at his mother's reply; an accomplice?
'We're here' Zain announced feeling relieved after an hour's journey with everyone complaining every five minutes or so. Farmhouse isn't bad, the journey was worth it' He told everyone so that they could smile. He rolled his eyes hearing Ayaat's complaints.
'My makeup is ruined' Ayaat grumbled, 'I'm sweating, eekkk I'm melting I think' She burst out laughing with Sofia seeing Asim and Zain's blank faces. Ayaat turned around and hi-fived Sofia, she stared as Asim helped Sofia out of the car, she smiled being able to see something in her eyes.
'Ahem?' Zain coughed outside the car, Ayaat turned on her seat and looked up, he raised his eyebrows, 'You waiting for an auspicious time now ma'am?'
'Of course' Ayaat smirked throwing her curls back stylishly; he opened the door chuckling to himself before putting his hand out. She placed her hand onto his before being helped out of the car. He took her clutch off her allowing her to fix her dress. She panicked as he turned with her clutch; she held his arm and kept him back.
'Don't worry I'm not going anywhere without you' Zain laughed watching everyone else go inside. She stealthily took the purse back off him and wrapped her hand around his arm tightly. He watched her with a grin on his face, 'Are you okay?' He asked her noticing something different about her.
'Perfect' Ayaat mouthed before pulling his arm to move forward. He followed beside her, his eyes refused to move off her. His heart warmed up seeing her facial expressions, every blink, every smile, every nose twitch. The way her eyelashes delicately closed before it opened to take in the sight before her, her lips as they twitched before reflecting her heart's reactions. She looked at him momentarily whispering something as he kept staring at her. She waved her other hand in front of him before shaking her head and walking inside. Feeling the jerk forward, he snapped out of his thoughts.
'Hi Aunty, congratulations' Ayaat smiled letting go of Zain's hand and hugged the bride's mother.
;Ayaat beta. Thank you for coming, where's Asad and Zoya?' Mrs Faiza asked her looking around behind them.
'Sorry Aunty, Abbu is unwell so Ammi decided to stay back. Inshaa Allah, they should be attending the wedding and the walima. Where's Fahima?' Ayaat asked her.
'No worries. You both go and meet her; they're in the back garden. You young kids have fun with the cocktail or whatever it is called party! Us buddhe people will have fun here!' Mrs Faiza laughed before attending to the other guests.
'Come on then' Zain nudged her with his shoulder. 'Let's salsa' He moved his hands and hips in motions as he walked backwards out of the house. She grinned as she followed him out of the house, admiring his playful attitude; to think that she actually fell in love with an Akdu. She was happy he has come out of his shell, helping her along the way.
'Fahimaaa' Ayaat opened her arms wide and took the bride to be in her arms. Both of the girls rocked back and forth. 'Congratulations beautiful, you look stunning' She pressed her eyes praising her friend. She held her hands and looked at her, 'You are happy, right?' Fahima nodded looking down and blushing, Ayaat held her chin and lifted it upwards, 'Okay wrong question, think your deep pink cheeks have given it all away!' Ayaat teased, 'so where's my American brother in law?' Ayaat turned following her gaze, she laughed seeing Zain pulling his legs on the other side.
'He's cute' Ayaat winked. She was happy for her friend; she was worried it might have been forced since he was way older than her. Fahima was only 18 but seeing her so happy and blushing like she was in love; her heart was satisfied.
'Where's Sanayah and the gang?' Fahima asked,
'On their way' Ayaat smiled.
'Who's the hottie you entered with?' Fahima wrapped her hand over Ayaat's shoulder,
'Someone special.' Ayaat sighed, 'Oiii you're not allowed to look at anyone else' She poked Fahima's stomach. Both of the girls burst out laughing. Ayaat's eyes fell on Sofia who was hesitating as Asim tried to take her onto the dance floor. She giggled with excitement seeing all the steaming hot dancers shaking their hips. 'Hey Fahimaaa, is it just me or has everyone suddenly gone hot? Or did you hire sexy people to dance at your party?' She faced her friend with wide eyes.
'I think we should lock this one up' Zain placed his hand on her shoulder disappointed, Fahima and her fianc laughed seeing Ayaat's reactions.
'Whatever' Ayaat moved his hand off her shoulder. 'Come on you two, this is your party' Ayaat reminded them, she pushed Fahima and her fiance towards the floor grabbing Fahima's purse off her.
'The next guy your eyes lands on will be shot' Zain warned her placing his hands on his waist. She raised her eyebrow at him; really? He nodded her a reply. She stepped forward towards him, Zain's hands fell to his side. His eyes looked around them before focusing on her mischievous eyes.
'I'll stare at you only from now on' She whispered before being snapped out of her flirtatious mode by her beeping phone. She stared towards her clutch, he clicked his fingers in front of her to get her attention.
'Let's dance' He moved his eyes towards the dance floor,
'One second' Ayaat held her fingers up, he shook his head,
'No, now!' He took the purses from her hand and placed it onto the table. He grabbed her hand and pulled her towards the dance floor as she stared back at her purse.
-
'Asad, please call a doctor and get checked up' Zoya walked around the sofa and placed the mug of coffee on the table in front of him. She sat down next to him as he placed his arm around her.
'Stop worrying. I've just managed to convince Ayaat. I'm fine nothing has happened to me.' Asad reassured her.
'But Asad, your car brakes failing without any fault, and then the razors' She rubbed his chin where there was a cut, 'these glass pieces and then that hot rod' She held his burned hand. 'Almighty what is this?' Zoya prayed closing her eyes holding his hand against her cheek.
'Ey pagal ladki, I'm fine. It was all just accidents' He laughed as he spoke to her in a teasing tone,
'Yes I can see' She retorted.
'Allah Miyaan, what's wrong with you Zoya Asad Ahmed Khan?' Asad imitated her with wide eyes. She punched his chest, 'Ahh, you're the one that's doing intentional damage Zoya' He held her fists. Dangerous woman!'
'Yes I am. Ayaat should learn a two from me. Useless' Zoya closed her eyes leaning against his chest. He laughed at her wrapping his arms around her. He removed his phone from his pocket feeling it vibrate, he accepted the call and placed it against his ears,
'Hello Bhaijaan? Are you free to speak?' Ayaan asked him, Asad hummed a reply. 'Bhaijaan I didn't want to tell you this, I have no idea how you will react but it's better if we stay alerted. I'm sorry Bhaijaan, after 18 long years you were at some peace but I'm ruining it for you' He paused, 'Are you there bhaijaan?'
'Yeah I am, go on' Asad replied, he caressed Zoya's head stopping her from opening her eyes. She looked so peaceful, he didn't want to disturb her.
'Bhaijaan, I think Tanveer is back. I don't know I only saw a glimpse, it felt so real. I've tried looking for her but I just wanted to warn you just in case. She might not be here, but my heart is saying otherwise.' Ayaan hesitated.
'Don't worry. I'll be alert. Thanks Ayaan' Asad spoke softly, he didn't want to react oddly. Tanveer is back? The burning rage within him grew within seconds; he mellowed down feeling Zoya move.
'Okay bye Bhaijaan' Ayaan disconnected the call and sighed not being able to tell him anything else about his suspicions. He just wanted alert his brother, although he would not stop investigating himself. Ayaan closed his eyes; he could never tell him about Ayaat.
Tanveer sipped a glass full of champagne in one go and lay back against her sofa bed, her arms half dangling off the edge. She lifted her phone in the air and stared at the message before putting the phone to her ear.
'Imran Imran Imran' Tanveer sighed into the phone. 'It's been two weeks my darling, where are those documents?' She asked him.
'I haven't had the chance to meet Zain. He's been busy with meetings, I don't think I can just enter his office and take whatever I want' Imran replied irritated.
'Are you sure you're even related to that family?' Tanveer asked scornfully.
'Side effects of your actions' Imran replied, tired. He was so tangled in this situation that he couldn't see a way out of it. He thought Zain was his child, and now that he isn't, things don't seem any easier. He had hidden his past from everyone, no matter what he says it wouldn't change anything. She had played her games right. 'I will try to get those documents' He told her.
'You better. I'm surprised Imran, you've been with that family for over 19 years yet you don't seem to know who owns what business. Sad. Very sad.' She made tutting noises.
'I haven't made a hobby of interfering with other people's lives. I worked hard for the position I am in now. I don't just steal other people's rights' Imran spoke in a piercing tone.
'Right right. You just like to sit back and let others take the blame for your sins.'
'The sin you're talking about Tanveer is your doing. Only yours. I am innocent and even you cannot deny that. Your twisted mind has played enough games with us. I don't know what you're planning now, but I assure you the day Asad bhaijaan finds you, he will tear you apart!' Imran slammed the phone down. Tanveer shivered with rage hearing the phone line go dead, her hands wiped everything off the table beside her. She jumped up onto her feet and wiped her tears with the back of her hands,
'If you loved me back then maybe you wouldn't be in this situation right now!' She shouted grabbing the bottle of champagne, 'PAIN! THAT'S ALL YOU'RE GOING TO GET BECAUSE THAT'S ALL I FEEL RIGHT NOW!!!!!!!' She threw the bottle towards the wall; she stared at it with wide eyes shivering. 'I'm burning with this fiery sensation, the fire of my revenge will be blown out the day I destroy whatever I have left for you all 18 years ago. Starting with Zain, I will destroy everything you have. You were and always will be a pawn in my game! I guess it's a bonus seeing you in a good position right now, and in love with Ayaat Ahmed Khan, WAH BETA WAH!' She laughed impressed. 'I left you stranded for them to find you, and in return you'll ruin them for me! HATE, it's so easy to hate my son! And Ayaat, you're flying in love right now! Let me pour some rain over your pretty little fairy tale' She moved towards her bedroom, dragging herself along the rails.
She stared at the mirror,
'You don't deserve anyone's love and affection Tanveer!'
'Your son will be ashamed to call you Ammi! You don't deserve the love of the child you're carrying!'
'Who's illegitimate child are you carrying? You've ruined my marriage, who else is there left for you to destroy! To think, I might have considered you a friend in our college days.'
'YOU DID THIS FOR MONEY, HERE IT ISSS!' Tanveer held her hand over her face watching the bundle of money come at her as Asad looked at her disappointed. His rage had gone; he was too beaten to even take out his anger on her for tearing his family apart.
She removed her hand and stared into the mirror, her hands went over her stomach. Her red eyes overflowing with tears of rejection as her wounds ached raw once again. She let her hair loose and turned around suddenly more dangerous than ever before.
'Asim, I'm on my way' Tanveer disconnected the call and opened her message,
'It was Tanveer, tell me something I don't know' She laughed reading the message.
'What do you know about Zain?' Tanveer texted back.
'So Ammi and Abbu has told you that much. It's only Zain's identity you're unaware of then. And Ahsaan's name caught your attention. Hmmm' Tanver went over what she had to do.
-
'Hey Prasad, what's wrong?' Asad held his phone against his shoulder whilst he mixed the ingredients in a bowl. Zoya has had a sudden urge to bake a cake; women and their mood swings. Zoya poured the other ingredients in a bowl and started mixing really loudly. He looked at her; she smiled widely at him before stopping the mixing. She wiped the side of the bowl with her indent finger and tasted the sauce. She pressed her eyes close savouring the taste; Asad moved his eyes off her being distracted. Zoya stared at him, he only wore a vest under his apron, she stared at his arms as she leaned against her elbows.
'Nothing is wrong sir. I just wanted to tell you that the confirmation letter has come straight to the office. You've transferred 54% of the shares to Ayaat's name, the remaining shares are still under processing. Do you want the documents home or should I keep them with me sir?' Prasad asked.
'Yeah, that's fantastic. After so many months of hassle, it's finally done. Yes 54%, and no Prasad. There's only one person that I can trust with those documents and that is you. I'll ask for them when the time is right, and this needs to stay between us. We'll wait for the announcement. Thank you. You go home, well done with today's projects. We've received wonderful feedback. How's Asim progressing?' Asad asked pulling Zoya in between his arms and held the mixing bowl against their stomachs. She poured the chocolate bits into the mixture; he pressed her forehead against hers.
'It was a team effort sir. And of course, I will keep those safely. He's doing well sir, he's learning very fast. He was with me all day yesterday; he handled that other project well. He seems determined and hard working.' Prasad praised Asim, he paused for a moment, 'He's like you sir. He will go very far' He smiled.
'That's good to hear. Thank you again Prasad. Bye' Asad laughed putting the phone down and placing it on the worktop beside him.
'What was all that?' Zoya asked moving her head back and carried on mixing. He placed his hand over hers and they both mixed it together,
'Transferred majority of the company shares to Ayaat's name. She will have to take care of it after me' Asad replied brushing her fringe from her forehead. Zoya pouted feeling something smear on her forehead. He reached forward and pecked her lips. She giggled before taking a bit of the cake mixture and putting it on his nose. She quickly placed the bowl on the table and ran for it; he grabbed her hand and pulled her back. She squealed feeling his hand go over her waist scrunching up her blouse,
'I don't think you're doing the right thing.' Zoya whispered, he raised his eyebrow. 'You should have transferred it to Ayaan's name, he deserves it' She replied.
'We'll talk about that later' Asad nuzzled his into her neck; she shivered feeling his breath on her neck tingling her hair. She pushed his hand downwards stopping him from lifting her blouse; she pushed him away and ran around the table. Zoya!' He chased behind her and winced as he put pressure on his hurt foot. Zoya froze and turned around rushing back towards him.
'What happened, does it hurt?' She was about to bend forward when he lifted her up over his shoulder and placed her on to the stool next to him.
'Shall we make this cake before you decide to throw another tantrum? You run around too much, for an old woman you sure do have a lot of energy' Asad laughed seeing her expressions. She threw a strawberry towards him. His nose scrunched up seeing it fall on the floor and paint it red.
'I'm still younger than you.' Zoya flicked her hair and then rubbed her stomach, 'I want cake' She pouted throwing another strawberry at him.
'Zoya stop it!' He picked up the cake tin and held it in front of her while she poured the mixture into the tin. He stared at her disgusted seeing her licking the bowl clean, she looked up seeing his shadow over her.
'What?' She snapped seeing his face,
'Still a child, I see your brain still hasn't matured. Mental balance at all time low' Asad threw her a look and put the cake mixture into the oven. Zoya's mouth fell open; he turned around and shook his head. He stuffed her mouth with strawberries; she coughed spitting it all out.
'What did you say?' Zoya managed to get her breath back; she grabbed his phone and brought it to her lap.
'You heard me' Asad kissed her nose; she suddenly smiled widely showing him all her teeth. She raised her arms asking him to pick her up before moving her eyes to the sofa. She stared at him victoriously using his words against him; however he happily picked her up and walked towards the sofa.
'I have a check-up appointment tomorrow Asad, you'll have to take me' Zoya told him, he was about to speak, 'You don't have a choice my dear husband, I'm not asking' She spoke with wide eyes.
'Let's order some takeout' He sighed falling onto the sofa with her.
-
Sofia held her arm against Asim's; they both stared at one another as they danced with each other. Asim's eyes stuck on her face admiring her every detail, he watched her turn, he froze as her hair brushed his face. He watched her laugh openly, her eyes glistened in his. His hand brushed down the side of her body and thrown out of the way as her hips moved side to side. His felt a shock of waves run down his body as she placed her hand on his shoulder before sliding it around his neck moving closer towards him.
'This is fun' Her laugh echoed in his ears, 'I'm glad you're here, I'd never feel uncomfortable with anyone else Asim. Thank you' She pressed her eyes, he was about to speak when her hands went over his chest as she went around him. He moved his hand behind him holding her securely before sliding her around, she stood with her arms out backwards. Asim eyes ran over her bare back before noticing the hook that has come open. He pulled her closer making her back hit his chest, Sofia suddenly panicked as the proximity between them increased. She tensed her back feeling his hand move upwards before hooking her top. She turned around and blinked at him, his stare sent tingles down her spine.
Thank you' She whispered.
Zain slipped his hand around Ayaat's waist pushing her closer to him. She pulled his collar with both of her hands moving both of their hips in sync, they laughed as they stepped around each other before locking their hands in the air. He held her as she spun on her feet; he admired how she could manage to look so elegant doing an intense routine. He smiled being able to hear her heartbeat amongst the crowd as she spun in her red cocktail dress, her hair danced with her making her look more beautiful than ever before. He pressed her hand making her come to halt before bringing her closer to him; he wrapped his arm around her waist before holding onto her other hand while fast waltzing with her. He lifted her up in the air before dropping her, brushing his face down her stomach, Ayaat's hand stroked the side of his face. She faced him; their faces were inches apart as they both stared at one another breathless. He held her waist tighter against his body; he brought his lips closer to hers. She closed her eyes being able to feel his breath on her face.
'Wow guys, you all have danced amazingly well!' Fahima's brother brought the party to a halt. Zain and Ayaat were brought back to reality as they jumped off each other and stared around them. Everyone clapped away as the limelight went onto the bride and groom. Zain laughed shaking his head; Ayaat brushed her hair back feeling slightly light headed.
I''ll get us some drinks and will go see if we can find daadi' Zain told her. She nodded at him before watching him leave. Her attention went towards her clutch; she ran towards it and grabbed it. She moved to a quieter area under one of the trees and sat on the bench. She took her phone and stared at the message. She took a deep breath and opened it,
'What do you know about Zain?' She read the message. Her throat went dry; what? She looked here and there annoyed at this person for bringing Zain into this. Maybe she was right in wanting to ignore the messages.
'You don't really know anything, do you? Please stop wasting my time' Ayaat texted back feeling frustrated. She hit her forehead,
'Why are you so stupid Ayaat? You weren't this emotionally weak, she used the name Ahsaan and you fell into her trap. There isn't anything for you to know. If there is, then just ask your parents. Why would you out of all people trust such texts?' Ayaat scolded herself.
'Why are you so afraid Ayaat?' Ayaat read the message.
'Why would I be afraid of what you have to say?' Ayaat texted back angry.
'Because the person you love is deceiving you. Love makes you fearful.' Came T's reply. Ayaat pressed her forehead,
'Come to the point!' Ayaat texted furiously.
'Your beloved daadi is coming towards you. Why don't you ask her why Asad hates Zain? With Love T X' Ayaat stared ahead of her seeing Zain come towards her with two drinks in his hand with Dilshad following behind him. She looked at her phone; how does she know about Asad and Zain's tiff. She remembered her promise to herself the night before; to find out the reason for their tiff and remove it. Why was her heart beating so fast suddenly, what was she missing? Because the person you love is deceiving you. She got up and took the drink off him while he went on to find Sofia, the performances were starting; this was perfect timing.
'Daadi, can I ask you something?' Ayaat's eyes followed Zain's back every moment or so.
'Yes beta, go on.' Dilshad nodded.
'One minute. Come with me.' Ayaat pulled Dilshad's arm towards a more quieter area. She stared at her grandmother who looked at her worriedly.
'I want you to be honest me with me Daadi, I'll know if you lie to me today. If you love me Daadi, forget any promises or oaths you have taken. I just want you tell me the truth. Why did Ammi and Abbu separate? Was it because of that woman, erm Tanveer?' She asked her, Dilshad's eyes opened wide with shock as her hand went over her mouth. Ayaat stared at her, waiting for her to answer.
'Beta, listen to me.' Dilshad put her hand out, Ayaat stepped backwards.
'No daadi, no stories to make me feel better. Tell me. Was it because of Tanveer, is it the same woman who took Ahsaan away from us? Tell me Daadi' Ayaat asked over and over again.
'Yes' Dilshad nodded bursting into tears.
'What happened?' Ayaat asked her next question, her body was shivering with fear. She didn't want any answers, she knew that right this moment she was about lose something precious to her but she didn't know what.
'What did she do?' Ayaat asked again, Dilshad calmed herself down.
'She framed your Abbu. Created problems between your parents. Zoya left the house, due to further problems, she never came back. Tanveer tried to take your Ammi's place in our house but Asad eventually kicked her out' Dilshad explained everything before pausing to stare at Ayaat's face, she realised she was yearning for more answers. Dilshad stopped herself from telling her anymore, she watched her before closing her eyes hearing the next question.
'What has Zain got to do with all of this?' Ayaat's lips quivered, her eyes were overflowing with tears. Dilshad slowly opened her eyes; she stared past Ayaat's tear stricken face and shook her head in a no.
'Tanveer is my mother' Ayaat froze hearing a voice coming from behind her. The familiarity of the voice sent cold shivers down her spine. She slowly turned around and held her breath seeing Zain stand there with a face that expressed his defeat. Her hands fell to her side, her purse and phone fell out of her hands.
Zain watched her purse fall to the ground; he lifted his eyes to see her face that was now blank.
'Tanveer is my mother' Zain told her again. His heart ached seeing her lips trembling, her eyes lacking trust in them. The moment he feared the most, that moment was here. Ayaat felt as if the ground had been pulled from under her, she felt faint. Her mind had frozen, she didn't know what to think. Zain was the reason for her parents splitting up? Dilshad put her hands out to comfort her but Ayaat stepped forward towards Zain. She walked towards him; he put his hands out to hold her but she brushed past his shoulder and walked away. Zain closed his eyes, pressing away his tears before falling to his knees as his heart ached raw seeing her rejection. Dilshad ran towards him and held him in her arms,
'What's wrong beta? Don't cry, we'll make her understand' Dilshad comforted him.
'She hates me Daadi. Just like Asad chachu' Zain wrapped his arms around her and buried his head into her chest. 'I can't bear any more rejection Daadi, I can't bear it anymore' His voice cracked.
Tanveer sighed from a few metres away. She gulped her drink down and threw the cup away.
'Why did you have to ruin the moment Zain?! Anyways, cry away son. Cry away. Your so called mother because of whom you're suffering so much will come to you. No more rejection' She put her phone away and walked towards the car; satisfied.
'Listen to me, she doesn't hate you. Ayaat doesn't know the meaning of hate, she is like her mother. Loving and forgiving. You're not at fault; it was never your fault or ever will be. Get up, wipe your tears. We've all seen how much she cares about you despite Asad's attempt to keep you away from her. She's just shocked, she doesn't hate you' Dilshad picked him up. She wiped his tears, 'I'll go find Sofia and Asim. Don't worry' Dilshad brushed his arms before walking away to find Sofia. Zain breathed into his hands,
'I'm sorry Ayaat. I'm soo soo sorry!' Zain whispered before picking her clutch up from the ground. His forehead creased seeing the light coming from her phone. He picked it up and stood up before looking closely at her phone. He was confused seeing her phone unlocked, her inbox staring back at him, he scrolled up to the top. His eyes went wide reading messages from this unknown person called T. He kicked the air in frustration; Tanveer Ahmed was back. He shivered with rage fisting his hand,
'You wretched woman. You will pay for your crimes' He seethed before storming towards his car.
'Zain, Zain where are you going?-' Ayaan called from behind. He watched Zain get into the car with Dilshad behind him. He walked over towards Sofia,
'What's happened? Is everything okay?' He pointed towards Zain asking Sofia,
I' have no idea Abbu. Daadi said something came up so she has to go home with Zain bhaijaan.' Sofia replied confused.
'Where's Ayaat bhaji?' Hassan popped his head from behind,
I' have no idea. I think she left a bit earlier. I'll just give her a call' Sofia spoke unsure,
N'o leave it. I'll talk to her later' Ayaan wrapped his arm around Sofia and headed towards the seats to view the performances. 'Where's Asim?'
'He's gone to the bathroom' Sofia replied awkwardly. It had finally hit her how intense her dance with Asim had become, she felt guilty for cheating the person she loved. Okay, he might not love her back but she loves this person right? Then why did she get carried away with Asim? She shook her head, no, she'll just have to keep her distance from him. She sighed leaning against her father; she was dreading the day she would come face to face with her online beloved. The meeting she was supposed to get butterflies from is scaring the daylights out of her. She was afraid of rejection, it would be sad if that rejection was because of her appearance.
Ayaat leaned against the taxi seat, tears strolling down her cheek as her mind went over the past few months. How much things had changed, she had lived alone with her mother for 18 years of her life without signs of any other family apart from her Zeenat khala and Anwar Khalu; they were the only extended family she had. She did not question her mother about her past, about their past, the father she craved for became a faint desire that she didn't need fulfilling. Her mind always wondered, why was her mother alone, why did she cry herself to sleep, what was it that her heart always yearned for? Her mother granted her a new relation, a twin that she was separated from before her birth. Her family grew yet no regrets, she was happy with a relation that didn't exist. Then her mother revealed bits of her past; Ahsaan was kidnapped and killed. She remained silent still cherishing the non-existent relationship as each day her hatred for her brother's killer grew and her heart another bit empty. She learned to be happy in her small fairytale; with her mother.
Then one day, she broke a promise which in turn taught her a huge life lesson; it almost took her mother away. In a twist of events, her 18 year old forgotten desire turned reality; she got her father, her family was complete. She didn't have any questions; she didn't want to know what happened all those years ago because her parents were happy with each other. She met Zain, who mirrored her father in so many ways, his shelled emotions, glimpses of his yearning for love and care attracted her towards him. Despite her father's hatred, she only saw love where Zain stood, no matter how much she tried staying away from him for her father's sake and for his own sake, she became even closer to him. She fell in love, madly in love. She promised to make everything okay between her father and Zain. But now, what's happened? Didn't she want to find out the reason why her parents separated? Why is she hurting finding out Zain is Tanveer's son, the woman who destroyed their past. Has she been deceived? Zain knew about it all and hid it from her? Was falling in love with her a game? Like his mother played games with her family? Is this all deception? Did he love her? Why didn't he tell her about Tanveer when she cried endlessly in his arms. How does this change things, she finally asked herself not knowing what had happened and whether she was asking the right questions.
Ayaat stepped out of the taxi holding onto her head; she didn't know what she was thinking. She stared up at the big house in front of her and blinked away more of her tears. Why was she hurting so badly? She held her chest and winced as memories of the dance flashed before her. His proximity, his control of her mind and heart as well as her body and soul, his deep eyes pouring out a mixture of intense care, love and passion towards her. In those same eyes, she failed to notice fear; fear of losing her, hurting her.
She entered the house lifeless, Asad and Zoya looked up from the sofa smiling. They both got up and was about to speak when Ayaat carried on walking towards her bedroom without a word.
'Ayaat suno' Zoya called from behind but she froze seeing her turn and face her before shutting the door, closing her out. Zoya turned around,
'Please ask your dear daughter why she is refusing to recognise her parents today' Zoya told Asad pointing towards the door.
'Zoya shush. She seems knackered, leave her alone.' Asad reprimanded her. He turned towards the front door, 'Where's the rest of the gang?' He asked,
'I have no idea. It's quite early, I'm sure Ayaan and Humeira literally just went half an hour ago.' Zoya shrugged her shoulders confused. She sat back down on the sofa ordering Asad to go check on Ayaat.
'Ayaat beta' Asad knocked on the door. 'beta, are you okay? Where is everyone else? Why did you leave the party?' He asked her. Ayaat was sat on the floor with her head in between her legs silently shedding tears. 'Ayaat, baby, did anyone say anything?' Asad spoke worriedly hearing no reply, he turned on his feet thinking she might be in the bathroom; he froze hearing her sniffing and uncontrolled sobs. 'Ayaat, open the door beta. Ayaat, tell Abbu what's wrong? Did anyone say anything, tell me, I'll sort it out' His voice rose with each question, anger visible in his voice for the person who made her cry. Asad faced Zoya, 'Why is my daughter crying in there?' He fumed.
'I don't know' Zoya spoke confused before watching Dilshad and Zain enter the house who looked at them both upset.
'Ammi, why is Ayaat crying? Has anyone said anything to her?' Asad spoke raged.
'Zain, go upstairs' Dilshad pushed him, Asad followed Zain's steps. 'Asad, Ayaat has found out about Tanveer.' She finally spoke, Zain halted on the first stair.
'Tanveer?' Zoya asked, 'But she knows about Tanveer, because Ahsaan...' Her voice drifted off as her eyes fell on Zain's back.
'What?!' Asad snapped,
'I don't know beta. She started asking me questions giving me her oath. I couldn't lie to her. She asked why you two separated. It's like she knew already but wanted me to confirm... and' Dilshad's voice went quiet.
'And what?!' Asad got impatient. Dilshad and Zoya stared at him silently. Zain turned around forcing Asad's eyes to move to his face; she knows about Zain. 'WHAT?!' He jumped towards Zain taking him by the collar and shaking him, both of the women tried pulling him off Zain,
'Asad, get off him! What is wrong with you?' Dilshad and Zoya yelled in unison.
'Why did you tell her? Why?!' Asad shook Zain, 'She was so happy and you ruined it for her. Couldn't you mother and son ever see my daughter happy?' Asad's voice barked at Zain.
'Asad, he didn't tell her. She already knew' Dilshad yanked him off Zain who hadn't uttered a single word in the past five minutes he was being strangled. Zain held her phone in front of Asad, Asad breathed heavily before grabbing it off him. His eyes furiously read over the messages as his nostrils flared, he turned and threw the phone against a wall.
'TANVEER AHMED!!!!!' Asad screeched with anger. He watched the phone smash into a million pieces in front of him, his hands fisted and unfisted. His jaws clenched together as the fury in him rose; Tanveer's destruction was for certain. He ran towards Ayaat's door and tapped it not wanting to frighten her.
'Ayaat, open the door, please beta!' Asad pleaded before rushing out of the back door.
Ayaat stepped out of the bathroom wrapped in her bathrobe; she had run under the shower when she heard his car engine. She could hear her father shouting outside her room, his raging voice was still echoing in her ears. She tried blocking it out in the shower.
'Tanveer is my mother' She blinked away the fresh set of tears that were brimming in her eyes. She almost jumped hearing someone enter through her window, she stared realising it was her father. He seemed worried and quite distressed at the same time as he looked up to meet her waiting eyes, Ayaat breathed in before breathing out sharply. She smiled at him as he slowly walked towards before staring at her coming face to face with her.
'There's a door-' Asad took Ayaat into a bone crushing hug. She held back her tears hugging him back,
'Are you okay?' Asad asked her, she nodded in his hold.
'I'm fine. What's wrong with me?' She pulled back and shrugged her shoulders. He stared at her trying to read the mixture of emotions on her face.
'You sure? I heard that-' Asad paused seeing her act so casual.
'It was bound to happen Abbu. Truth always finds a way out, I'm glad I know now.' She sighed, 'You and Ammi were only trying to protect me, I guess I feel more protected knowing now.'
'Who told you Ayaat?' Asad asked her,
'I simply had a hunch and then asked daadi' Ayaat stared at his face, 'I don't know, some person. Said something about revealing secrets and true faces of the people I live with. I don't know what she wanted, but I'm not angry at you or anyone. I am upset that you all hid everything from me but not angry.' She shook her head. 'Whatever her or his motive was, I guess it's been fulfilled somewhat and I know now. But they won't get what they want. I'm okay, I'm happy' She forced a smile towards his blank face. Asad hesitated asking about Zain, he remembered how Zoya talked about teaching one how to hate. As much as he might have taken Tanveer's hatred out on Zain, he didn't want anyone else to hate because of the same reason; especially his daughter. He didn't want to corrupt her loving and caring nature. Ayaat having noticed what the next questions might be turned on her feet pulling his arm towards the door,
'I know you both had takeout, could you please order me some food. I am starving' She rubbed her belly. He nodded taking out his own phone, 'Wait, I have a few numbers saved on my phone' Ayaat looked around for her phone, Asad looked up.
'I'll order a new phone in tomorrow.' Asad told her, 'I don't want you giving your number out to anyone' He spoke sternly. She was about to speak, 'Do you understand?' He gave her a look that had tamed any urge she might have had to argue back.
'Yes' Ayaat replied meekly. Asad brushed the side of her cheek with his thumb smiling at her pouting face.
'Don't be stingy with your portions. I want a big desert' He laughed putting the phone against her ear. She took it pushing him away,
'I thought I could smell cake' Ayaat pointed towards the door,
'BURNT' He mouthed to her before walking towards the cupboard. He brought out a fresh towel and turned around; he smiled seeing her gone back to normal. He stood there wondering what Tanveer really wanted; what would she get out of telling Ayaat about their past? About Zain? Why is she back?
'Ayaat, at least dry your hair properly.' He placed the towel over her head and dried her hair whilst she ordered food.
'Ahhh Abbu are you drying my hair or suffocating me?' Ayaat looked back and faked a choke. She coughed before staring at him, he watched her devlish grin and grabbed a pillow. 'Eeek! What is wrong with you? Put it down, now' Ayaat warned him with wide eyes. She lifted her bathrobe and ran towards the door, she unlocked it and stormed out.
'Ayaa-' Zoya screamed suddenly as Ayaat jumped past her avoiding Asad, she watched Asad chase behind Ayaat. 'Asad what are you doing? Leave my bachi alone' She scolded.
'Ammi, you see. Dekh lo, Abbu has lost the plot!' Ayaat spoke from behind the sofa.
'Dekh lo Zoya. She thinks her father is crazy.' Asad threw the pillow towards Ayaat who ducked before popping back up with a grin on her face.
'She's right though' Zoya interrupted the father daughter eye to eye war.
'Okay. Your new phone will not arrive any more' Asad blackmailed Ayaat who's mouth opened wide.
'Ammi, I have two tickets' Ayaat paused looking at Zoya, Asad raised his eyebrow. 'We'll go away for the weekend? Just me and you.' Zoya looked at her daughter proudly. She walked up to Ayaat and blessed her tactical skills.
'Where you going?' Asad stepped forward and asked her. Ayaat looked at his face blankly.
'Secret' She replied back to him.
'Secret... like what will happen to the car outside will be a secret' Asad stepped forward further.
'Ammi, I get my results from college tomorrow. Do you remember my plans about moving out? Connor has sent me some brochures; I seriously think I should consider it!' Ayaat looked at both Dilshad and Zoya who were containing their laughter. Asad ran towards her and grabbed her from the waist picking her up and throwing her on the sofa. He sat beside her,
'Don't you dare threaten me like that again! Don't forget Asad Ahmed Khan is your Abbu' Asad poked her stomach. 'What did I explain about Connor? Boys are stupid, never listen to their advice. Give me those brochures once you're done eating' He looked at her seriously. Ayaat rolled her eyes.
'Are you not a boy?' Zoya retorted,
'I am a man' Asad replied.
'He skipped a step' Dilshad laughed. Asad blew his face seeing his mother join hands with Zoya to tease him. Ayaat leaned in towards him,
'Don't worry. That was the last time I will listen to any male species Abbu' Ayaat laughed looking up towards the staircase to find Zain staring down at them both. She closed her eyes instantly meeting his, she sighed into her father's chest.
-----
'Did you meet her?' Asad asked standing above a torn Zain who looked up sadly confused at his question. 'Did you meet Tanveer?' He asked in a disgusted tone.
'What? What makes you say that?' Zain asked back, baffled.
'What was her motive? Didn't she tell you?' Asad walked towards the window. Zain stood up and stared at his back.
'You think I planned all this with that woman?' Zain spoke sadly, hurt at his accusation. 'What would I gain from telling Ayaat about myself? What would anyone gain from telling her about the past?' He directed the question at himself. Asad turned around,
'What does she want?' Asad questioned.
'If I knew, I wouldn't be sitting here kicking myself for being so careless. How on earth did she get Ayaat's contact number?' Zain rubbed his face sitting back down on the bed. Asad stared at him finally realising Zain has nothing do with this. He looked as confused and worried. 'I made sure she didn't contact any of the clients directly while she was working for her 6 month period.' Zain went on.
'If I find out...' Asad's eyes suddenly toned down seeing Zain look up at him hearing his warning voice, 'I want more protection at the office, if you find out anything. Contact me or Ayaan' Asad walked towards the door.
'Is she okay?' Zain asked hesitantly getting up, Asad stopped for a moment.
'She will be' He replied walking out of the door. Zain walked towards the window and sighed,
'I can't see you turn away from me Ayaat. I can't. Those eyes that gave me courage to come closer to you, those same eyes are showing their lack of trust towards me. I don't know if this night will be enough to turn your love into hatred. If that is so, I hope this night never ends. I don't know how I will face you tomorrow morning. I don't know what Tanveer's intentions might have been tonight. I have lost the girl I dared to love; I guess this is the consequence of loving someone I shouldn't. I feel so defeated knowing that I am not destined for anything good. Whatever I gain, I will lose twice as much.' He fell to his knees remembering her lifeless body walking past him. I can't lose you, I won't lose you. No matter what' He told himself. 'Ayaat, I haven't done anything wrong. I am not my mother's son, the only crime I committed was being born' He leaned against the wall. Zain's tears flowed endlessly, after months of living in a dream world, he was suddenly jerked out of his daydream; everything was too good to be true. He knew he should've told her sooner, maybe that way her pain would have been lesser. She must feel so deceived; he couldn't blame her for feeling like he was cheating her. Those close moments were not enough to show her his love for her, it may never be enough. He held his head in between his knees.
Asad walked down the stairs in deep thought, he didn't know why he had the sudden urge to confront Zain at 2am in the morning. And for what? He somehow knew that Zain had nothing to do this, he had managed to put that little bit of faith in him that Zoya forced him to have. He just wanted to confirm that Zain had not interacted with Tanveer, as much as he hated her, Zain had grown on him, not that he would ever admit it to himself or anyone. He froze seeing Ayaat in her onesie, her head covered as she sat with one leg up on the chair. He heard the kettle making a noise behind her, he slowly walked towards her. Asad pulled a chair out next to her and sat down staring at her.
As a father, he promised to always be there for his daughter. If she needed a shoulder to cry on, he would be the one to give her that. He wanted her to fall in love, but he was dreading the day her heart would be broken but he promised himself he'd sit down by her side with a cup of coffee and tell her everything will be alright. When she would be nervous about doing something big, he'd sit by her side and give her courage. When she would get married, he's hold her in his arms and comfort her that no matter what happened, her husband would always be there for her like her father and he'd sort him out if he ever made her cry.
As he sat there watching his daughter hold back her tears, he didn't know how to comfort her. He didn't understand what was hurting her so much that she was unable look him in the eyes. Feeling helpless, he got up and started making coffee. He sat back down next to her and held her hands,
'What's wrong?' Asad asked softly, Ayaat looked up at him slowly.
'Abbu, how much do you love Ammi?' Ayaat whispered, Asad blinked at her question.
'A lot' He replied, 'Yes, we have faced a lot of problems but it only strengthened our love towards each other'
'And trust?'
Asad sighed at her question before pondering over their past. Zoya had distrusted him but only because he gave her a reason to. Their trust in each other did break but luckily it only broke to build back stronger. It was a total different matter that he was innocent all along, Zoya was angry because he hid the matter. Whatever she thought happened between him and Tanveer was not intentional in her eyes but hiding the matter from her was.
'Beta, there are so many forms of deception. Those who hide things from you for your benefit, to make sure they don't hurt you, to make sure you can live happily can never break your trust. That is not breaking your trust, that's trust they have in you to understand that whatever they have done for you is to help you. And then there's people who people who hide things with bad intentions to cheat you. That is breaking your trust. It's all about intention. Your mother and I learnt this the hard way. We were fortunate enough to build that trust back despite not having each other in our lives.' Asad sighed looking up to find Zoya standing against the door, she winced staring at him. She had distrusted him, she was the reason they distanced. If only she understood his fear of losing her, fear of not wanting to bring a storm into her happy married life. She only chose to see that Asad who had given away whatever belonged to her to another woman and he CHOSE to hide that.
'And in the end, it's all about what we choose to believe. Everything depends on your faith beta.' Asad moved her hood off her head before brushing her hair back.
'Your daughter is in love Asad. Unknowingly, you're advising your heartbroken daughter who needed your comfort and support, who needed reassurance tonight that only she can decide who she wants to trust. Everything will be alright, because she is your daughter. If it wasn't okay, you'd make everything okay.' She whispered to herself before walking towards them both. Ayaat looked up with teary eyes. Zoya ran her fingers through her hair,
'I'm sorry beta.' Zoya whispered. 'We're sorry for hiding everything from you. We wanted to protect you from all the bitter memories.'
'Ammi, it's okay' Ayaat placed her hand over her mother's. 'I understand don't worry'
'Ayaat, Zain is not-' Zoya was cut short by Asad,
'Zoya, let's get some sleep. Ayaat, get to bed. You'll feel better. You're getting your results tomorrow.' Asad reached forward and kissed her forehead. Zoya shook her head realising Asad's hesitance to talk about Zain. She placed a kiss on Ayaat's head before walking towards the bedroom with Asad following behind her. They both looked back to find her sipping her coffee in deep thought.

Asim entered the house quietly not wanting to wake anyone up. He froze hearing someone sniffing, his head shot towards the right to find someone on the floor staring straight at the TV. He took faint steps towards the TV to find the image of a new born baby on the screen being cradled by a woman.
'Hello there baby' Naeem's cooing voice filled the room. Asim stared at the baby on the screen before looking down on the floor to find Ayaat wrapped up in a duvet. He instantly got on his knees hearing a low sob, his hands wrapped over her shoulder protectively,
'Heyy sshhh, what's wrong?' Asim rubbed her arm; Ayaat dug her face into his chest and cried. He held her as she let it all out, her sudden pain, hurt and anger slowly washed away in his arms. He held her tighter as he mentally scolded himself for being part of the reason why she is crying. He didn't know what his mother had done, but whatever it was, he hated seeing Ayaat cry. He might've been angry with her for lying to him but somewhere in his little heart, some hidden corner, he still considered her his sister and he couldn't see her in so much pain. The pain he wanted to see on the face of Asad Ahmed Khan was only seen on Ayaat's face and he couldn't bear this. He had to do something to protect her, no matter what. She moved away from him and stared at his face,
'Thank you' Ayaat whispered, he wiped away her tears shaking his head.
'You look horrible when you cry' Asim joked tucking her hair back.
'I look pretty when I don't cry?' Ayaat asked,
'If looking like a tomato half of the time is pretty, then yes!' He laughed. Ayaat smacked his chest. He pinched her nose, 'Get some sleep. Go' He hit her head. She nodded getting up and walking towards her room. Asim looked at the TV screen, he looked at the baby thoughtfully. He looked around the room weirdly before looking at his hand. A shot of goosebumps ran over his body; who was this baby?
He brushed all thoughts away before turning the TV off and getting up. He slipped his hand behind his back pocket and took out the rolled up documents. He walked towards the stairs staring at the documents his mother handed over. He sighed walking into Zain's room, he stood there watching Zain on his bed with his arm over his face as the hand on his side played with the lamp switch. He walked over towards his suitcase and placed the document inside before quickly changing and lying beside Zain.
-----
Ayaat took in a deep breath before stepping out of her room. She smiled widely at her parents who looked up from the dining table. She swung her keys in the air walking towards them,
'Good morning!' Ayaat kissed her father on the cheeks before sitting down for breakfast.
'Good morning beautiful.' Asad served her plate, 'Confident?' He asked her, she nodded at him. He chuckled watching her pony tail dance behind her.
'She's my dedicated child that's why. I have full faith that she aced those exams' Zoya placed her juice on the table kissing her forehead. 'Goodmorning Zain' Zoya smiled. Ayaat looked at her food and started nibbling bits of it.
'Goodmorning' Zain wished Zoya sitting on the opposite side of Ayaat.
'Beta, you're getting your results as well right? Good luck' Dilshad caressed his head.
'Good luck. Why don't you and Ayaat go together' Zoya suggested. Ayaat burst into a coughing fit, she jumped up onto her feet.
'Sorry Ammi, I have to pick Sanaya Jameela and Connor up. I'm sure Asim is also coming to the college' Ayaat pointed towards the stairs. She tried not to look at Zain's sad face before rushing out of the house.
'Ayaat, eat breakfast properly!' Asad shouted behind her.
'I'm done' A reply came from outside. Asad looked at Zoya; stubborn child.
'I know, goes after you' Zoya threw at him walking towards her room; everyone stared at Asad and Zoya trying to figure out what they were talking about.
'Asim, eat something. Let me get my documents' Zain got up talking to Asim who was walking towards the table. What's up?' He asked seeing Asim so gloomy.
'I need to get my birth certificates. I had applied for my results to be sent to the college, they had asked me to get my identity documents as proof, I totally forgot. I phoned the hospital a few weeks back and they told me they would post my birth certificates. I've asked my mother, and she hasn't received anything. Odd, anyways, I'm just going to head to the hospital now' He brushed his hair back.
'I'll come with you. It's weird; shouldn't your mother carry a copy?' Zain asked before realising how messed up his own life was.
'Yeah, she would.' Asim spoke sadly not knowing who his birth parents were. A part of him wanting to know but he knew he'd disregard whatever his mother Tanveer has done for him; she brought him up like her own. He needed his birth certificates to get his results, what should he do? He brushed his hair back as he walked towards the dining table, he picked up a glass of juice and gulped it down. 'Where's Ayaat?' He asked Asad.
'Gone to pick up her friends. She'll meet you there!' Asad replied, 'Good luck both of you!' Asad got up from the table and headed towards his room. Zoya, come on we're going to be late, what time is your appointment?'
'Whenever you want it to be' Zoya replied winking. Asad looked at her confused.
'You do have an appointment right?' Asad asked her,
'Ofcourse, come on.'
'Zoya, what are you getting checked? What's wrong with you?' Asad asked suspiciously,
'Ahhh' Zoya faked pain on her body, 'Come on, become a detective later!' She dragged him by the hand and pulled him towards the door, 'Good luck boys' She kissed the air.
'What happened to the pain now?' Asad laughed walking behind her watching her dance towards the car; she will always remain a kid whatever age she might be.
-
'Asad stop stop stop!' Zoya hit his arm,
'Owww, are you crazy?' Asad halted the car in front of the shopping mall. 'WHAT?!' He snapped,
'Let's buy Ayaat a gift! No actually let's buy all three kids a present!' Zoya spoke excitedly,
'What about your appointment?' Asad asked her,
'There's still time' She said getting out of the car,
'At this rate, my business will go bankrupt' Asad complained, Zoya rolled her eyes,
'Baking cakes is a part of your business isn't it?' Zoya pulled him into the shopping mall. Seeing her so excited, he finally gave in and helped her pick out gifts.
'Zain, you wait here. I'll be back' Asim spoke through the window.
'No, I'll come with you' Zain was cut short by Asim.
'I'll be done quick. Don't worry, you wait here' Asim spoke nervously before rushing inside the hospital, Zain leaned back against his car seat sighing.
Asim ran inside the hospital trying to avoid meeting anyone who might recognise him. This is getting harder day by day trying to hide his actual identity. How the hell was he meant to do everything stealthily?
'Why is Ammi so reluctant when I ask for my birth certificates?' Asim asked himself. In his rush to reach the main office on the third floor, he knocked into a woman along the way. He turned around instantly not being able to hear any pained noises, he stared at the woman in front of him who sat back down in her mourning state. He kneeled in front of her being able to feel her pain,
'Are you okay?' Asim whispered, the woman looked up slowly tears overflowing her petite eyes.
'Beta, how can I be okay when my children are suffering so much? My daughter lost her child, in her sorrow she has gone into depression.' She cried breaking into a loud sob, her voice cracked as she shook her head, 'I'm being punished for my deeds beta, I'm being punished. I have done things in my past that I regret. Now my children are paying the consequences, Matharani, please spare me. Today, Today, I've realised how badly I've sinned for what, for the sake of money. Beta, my daughter has lost her everything. I don't know what to do' She begged helplessly.
'Shhh, be patient. God tests us in so many ways; consider this a test of repentance, of patience. A test of faith, do you still have faith in your God, after this calamity? Everything will be fine, your daughter needs you aunty. Stay by her side, she needs your strength and your faith that everything will be alright. And as for your past deeds, have faith in God and just pray wholeheartedly. Allah is Most Merciful, Most Kind. You should apologise to the person you have hurt and ask for forgiveness. Everything will be just fine. Just hold onto that faith!' Asim explained,
'Chahat!' A man called from behind, Asim slowly got up and turned towards the office. He wiped the lone tear escaping his eyes, he coughed trying to regain his composure. He glanced towards the helpless mother in the arms of her husband regretting her past; how was he going to repent for his mistakes?
'Thank you' Asim took the documents off the nurse and wandered down the corridor. They had already sent copies off his birth certificate to his house but he never received them. 'Ahsaan Khan, Mother: Z.Khan, why is the father bit empty?' He spoke confused, Was I an illegitimate child, is that why my mother got rid of me?' Asim pondered over his documents, every space was blank apart from his birth date and time. He sighed placing the documents into the envelope and sitting inside the car,
'All done?' Zain asked an upset Asim, he nodded him a reply. Zain, in his own sorrows, thought it would be best to leave the conversation there.
'Zoya, hurry up!' Asad dragged her into the lift. 'Who do you have an appointment with?' He asked her again.
'Ummm Nikita. She should be free now' Zoya replied quietly,
'Umm? And free now? What do you mean?' Asad breathed out,
'I mean I think she will be free to see you now' Zoya replied running out of the lift.
'WHAT?!' Asad asked shocked, 'What the hell Zoya? What's wrong with me? Zoya?!'
'Shhh now, come on' Zoya knocked on the door before opening it. She smiled seeing Nikita look up from her file, she dragged Asad inside before closing the door. Zoya was about to speak when Nikita came running up to her and hugged her almost pushing her backwards. Zoya looked at Asad,
'I'm glad you're here. I'm soo sorry Zoya. I didn't know how to tell you about Ayaat but I'm glad she's told you about it. I will do everything I can, she will be just fine' Nikita cried hugging her tighter, Zoya looked at Asad confused.
'What about Ayaat?' Zoya asked confused. Nikita froze before slowing facing her, she looked at Zoya's confused face and then Asad's mirroring the same confusion. Her mouth opened but no words came out,
'Dr Sengupta, tell us. What are you talking about?' Asad asked her. Nikita looked at both of their faces, she stumbled back a few steps and sat on the nearest chair knowing they'd be the ones needing it after she reveals the truth. Asad and Zoya stared at her blankly, waiting for her to answer. Nikita gulped,
'Ayaat has bone marrow cancer' Nikita closed her eyes pressing out her tears, she slowly opened them to find two pair of eyes staring back at her blankly before turning into a glare, threatening to murder her.
