Today is a special day. Wait, its not what you think it is😆 Yeah it is QH's one year anniversary but am here to talk about something which is a lot more special..Well, it's the day a really fine specimen was born👏 Someone whom I had the pleasure of meeting on this site..And i'd always be grateful to QH and IF for this..She is someone who is one of the best debaters out there on this forum and always places her POV in the most polite manner possible..She doesn't back out even if the conversation is literally going around in circles and I have never seen her get personal till date 😆Oh and she is incredibly convincing..Those who haven't been convinced by her arguments are either too stubborn or just too egoistic to accept that she is right 😆Well, not really..But you get the gist right? She is just too awesome for words is all that am trying to say😳😆

People say if you are good at something, never do it for free 😎But she has time & again played Devil's Advocate and defended AAK-the most bashed character on this forum😆 If he were a real person, he owes her big time😆 I remember making a post thrashing Asad a few months back and this girl totally floored me with her arguments in his defense..Of all the Asad defenders I could've met, I had to meet the one who placed irrefutable arguments😡 Well, it doesn't stop there..She is a supremely intelligent person and is one of the most progressive people I have come across in life..Well, my virtual and real life combined😆 She almost always says the right things at the right time..She baffles me with the unbiased and balanced arguments she places every single time..Poor hubby though, whenever she decides to get married😆 He might be all prepared to fire all cylinders for some mistake of hers but she might come and place perfect arguments with a poker face & he might have nothing to say apart from getting gobsmacked😲😆 Well, enough of my ramblings..Time to reveal the name I guess..Agar mai Gul ki tarah drag karti toh you might lose interest by the time I reveal her name Wait, don tell me you have already lost interest😆 Toh yeah , am going on & on about none other than starsinmyeyes ka Rockstar Shruthi⭐️

One Shot

It was 11:55 pm on the 28th of October. She stood by the window in her room, her face nestled in her palms, her elbows balanced on the window sill, and stared out at the busy streets of Mumbai, the city that never slept. She loved this time of the year. The festive mood could be felt even in the still of the night. It was a few days before Diwali, but the shops and a lot of homes already had their holiday lights up. The streets were alit and some folks could be seen walking around. A few fireworks were visible out on the horizon, early revelers, she sighed.

There was another reason why this season excited her so much. It was that time of the year where celebrations did not need a reason. It excited her that her birthday fell in the festival season almost every year, it felt like the whole world was celebrating with her.

In just a few minutes she was going to be a year older. A year wiser as some of her friends would like to put it or one more year less from her life span as a few others would say. But to her, it only mattered that it was her day, the day she could celebrate as she willed. She glanced down near her elbow and double checked her cell phone that lay there. In about a couple minutes her phone would start buzzing non-stop as her family and friends from far and near would start sending in their wishes. Some would call, others will send messages on WhatsApp or Facebook.

Her parents had said good night a while ago and so had her brother, but she knew better. This had become a ritual of sorts in their family. They would pretend to sleep and then come to surprise her as the clock struck twelve, always armed with a cake that she never figured out how they kept hidden. They never failed to be the first to wish her. In fact, the real surprise would be if they would actually forget to wish her for once. She smiled at the thought, she was confident that it was not possible for them to forget. They just loved her too much and just as she deserved.

One more minute to go, she looked at the wall clock as the seconds hand moved slower than ever. She ran out of the room and grabbed the cordless phone. Its better to be prepared since some of her friends would not hesitate calling the home line if her cell phone was busy.

When she came back to her earlier position at the window, something far away caught her attention.She convinced herself that it was just her imagination or maybe a cracker zooming up and across the sky. She waited for the colorful display that it would emit, but nothing happened. And then she saw it again, this time a little closer than before. She rubbed her eyes and looked out again but did not see anything anymore.

"Happy Birthday to you" she heard her family sing as the door to her room swung open. She was engulfed in a series of hugs from each one of them. She heard her cell phone buzzing by the window but it was left ignored. Her parents and brother wished her one last time after they all had a piece of the yummy chocolate cake and left since now the cell phone and the home line were both ringing incessantly.

She ran to the window to grab her phone when she saw it again. It was right by her window and in fact making its way inside. This can't be happening. This cannot be for real. Maybe something in the dinner did not sit well with me and I am seeing things. But no, she was not dreaming.

The thing, the great big white owl, was actually in her room, sitting on her table right besides the cake and a pile of folded papers sat right by its feet. Shru!!! Something is wrong with you girl!!! She told herself as she tried to ignore it. She finally answered her phone in order to distract her mind, but to her horror she heard him hoot and the hooting was getting closer every passing seconds. She thanked her caller without even registering who it was and hung up the phone.

She slowly made her way to the papers on the table, the owl was now flying across the room. She picked the first paper, nee letter now that she was actually holding it, and opened it slowly. Once it was fully open, she heard a chorus of Happy Birthday wishes. She quickly folded back the paper and the sounds were gone. Weird!!!

The phones were long forgotten. She slowly opened the letter again, trying to ignore the sounds as she read it. Oh My fre**ing God!!! She sat down on the chair nearby and held the letter to her heart with one hand as she pinched herself with the other. Owww! So this is real? I have just received my first Owl Post! She was staring down at the beautifully formed words on the letter and slowly letting them sink in. These were birthday wishes from Harry and his friends. Someone was pulling a fast one on her, she laughed. But how did the owl, that looked so much like Hedwig, feature into this prank.

In the first letter, at the very bottom, was a post script. Read the rest of the letters to get this mystery resolved it said.

She opened the letters, one after the other. They were wishes from all her friends from IF. And the very last one had the explanation of how they pulled this off. She could not stop smiling as she reread the last letter. This was the best birthday ever!!! And she had just received the best birthday present ever!!! She fed the owl a piece of the cake, as was instructed in the letter and the owl made its way back. She collected all the letters and arranged them neatly. She was going to have to reread them again, over and over, to keep reminding her how her friends had fulfilled one of her childhood dreams, being wished by Harry Potter and all his friends.
