Just When I Thought
Prologue
"Can't you at least pretend to listen to what I'm saying?" she huffed angrily, frustrated at how he was the least bothered with her opinion.
"You never say anything worth listening to!" he retorted back. Why couldn't she just let him work in peace? Why were all the women in his life so hell bent on driving him crazy? "I come here to work, not listen to your chatter."
Oh no, he didn't! "I don't say anything worth listening to? Me? You are the one who doesn't understand what's worth listening!"
Ok. If he didn't finish this conversation in the next few minutes, he was going to rip his hair off! Why was it so hard to leave him alone? "Alright. Unlike you, some people have to work for a living, so shoot. What's your new plan?" he asked, inserting inverted commas while saying plan, and putting the file he was working on, down. Oh the day wasn't getting any better.
How dare he say that to her? She had a ready retort for that, but decided to let it go. Pick your battles. The more important thing was to make him agree with her. "Well, I was thinking..."
"That's new! When did that start? Hope the extra pressure on your brain, isn't impairing your already impaired common sense!" he replied gleefully, cutting her off mid sentence.
She took a deep breath and gritted her teeth. Not now. There shall be a better time for revenge. "I think, we should go back to India."
"Oh do you? How nice. No." was his simple and stern reply.
That didn't go as planned. "Arre, listen to me at least. I know you don't ever want to go back, but it's been so many months since I met your mom and Najma. I miss them. In fact they are the only reason I am still with you. If I didn't love them so much, I'd have left you a long time ago!"
"Look I know you mean well and everything, but no. If you want I'll call them here. Just stop with the old "I wanna go there" drama. You've been at it for a year and I have never said yes. So, no. End of discussion." he replied. He could sense a migraine coming. Why couldn't she just let this rest?
But this time isn't like the others! She wasn't going down without a fight. "I know you don't want to go back and I know why." She could see his eyes darken and knew that he was trying hard to hold his anger in. "But, this time you have to say yes. You promised me that you'll fulfil whatever wish I have, on my birthday. Well, this is my wish."
"You cannot emotionally blackmail me into going back. That isn't happening. Stop." he replied forcefully.
"Asad, you have to face your demons someday! You can't hole up in this country and just act as if nothing happened back home. You promised me, and we are going." Seeing that he was about to reply, she spoke before he could. "I've already talked to your mom, and she can't wait to see us either. Our flight's day after tomorrow and your secretary has the other details."
What the hell?! He was biting his tongue to rein in his anger, but seriously, didn't she know the limit. As he was trying to find the right words to say no, without strangling her with his bare hands, he felt her getting up from her position, perched on his table, and straighten to leave the room.
Reaching the door, she turned back, to see him still trying to take in their conversation, and smiled. She couldn't help going back and standing in front of him, between his legs. As his questioning gaze reached her own eyes, she gave him a reassuring smile and bended down to plant a soft kiss on his cheek. Softly she whispered in his ear, "This, sweetheart, is the end of discussion."
She saw his confused expression and couldn't help but laugh. She winked at him and swiftly left his cabin, all the while laughing wholeheartedly. He was so cute! Sad for him, she knew all his buttons!
Despite himself, Asad couldn't help but smile at her retreating back. The girl was crazy! "Amyra! What am I going to do with you?!' he whispered exasperated, but with an odd fondness.

I am new to the forum, although a big Qubool Hai fan. Or was, until recently. I have a feeling that ZoyaAn are going to be together for at least some time, and I really can't watch Asad just being alone, can't see him hanging. But don't worry, Asya is going to be the major focus of my story, as I am an Asya shipper through and through. Asya is end game :)
Leave behind your thoughts! Thank you.
