EPILOGUE:
I am sorry but I will end the ff with this epilogue. The ff has already gone on for a long time and I feel a number of readers have already found other interests. It takes me hours to update each part and right now, it would best to end on a happy note. I will just summarize the parts I had planned on writing.
HONEYMOON:
Asad and Zoya had their honeymoon in Agra. Asad had promised her a view of the Taj Mahal under the full moon. Unfortunately, the day they arrived, there was a "Agra bandh' declared in the city. A disheartened Zoya had a big argument with Asad as she couldn't get her perfect honeymoon.' Asad managed to get her a view of the Taj under the full moon through the window of their hotel. They spent a romantic night under covers, observing the various shades of the Taj under the full moon.
NAJMA & KARAN'S WEDDING:
They got married three times- a Hindu wedding, an Islam wedding and a court marriage. Asad and Zoya had a lot of fun planning these weddings. Of course, with loads of banter and typical fights to add to the spicy mix.
PREGNANCY & KIDS:
A few weeks after their honeymoon, Zoya was stunned to find out that she was pregnant. After their usual banter and blame game, Asad and Zoya were ecstatic to know that they were going to be parents. At the same time, Asad was asked to join a Navy mission on the Indian Ocean. With a heavy heart, he had to leave a very pregnant Zoya- with morning sickness and what not. You can just imagine how Zoya must have reacted but she was a trooper while he was away. They chatted on skype every night. She even scanned the ultrasound images to him. To their surprise and horror, they found out they were going to be parents of twins. Zoya decided to name them Chintu and Bunty irrespective of their sexes. They decided not to find the sexes till the delivery
Asad promised to be home before the delivery but unfortunately Zoya went into premature labor at 34 weeks gestation. As she cursed Asad while being wheeled to the operating room for an emergency C-section, when she heard the cries of the babies and a nurse congratulate Captain (yes he had been promoted) Khan' in the operating room, she had tears of joy as her Mr. Khan had once again, not disappointed her and whenever she needed him in an emergency, he was always there for her.
They had a boy and a girl.
Bunty- girl- her name was Aaliyah
Chintu- boy- name was Zain
Their personalities were like chalk and cheese. Even as infants, their personalities were distinct. Aaliyah, was the quiet and serene one who barely cried even when she was hungry. Zain was the hyperactive one and cried for no reason most of the time. While Aaaliyah loved to gaze at her surroundings from her father's lap, Zain loved to bounce and monkey around with his mother.
As they grew up, Aaliyah was the organized one, who kept all her toys in the toy box neatly, never lost or broke a toy, loved to read books with her abbu'
Zain, on the other hand never stayed still. His mind and body were always restless. He loved messing with Aaliyah and could never keep his toys or belongings in place. He loved to take things apart but never put them back together. The only thing that calmed him was music and a bear hug from his ammi. As evident, Aaliyah was Asad's pet and Zain, Zoya's. Imagine the fights their parents had because of their kids!
As they grew up, it was quite obvious that Aaliyah was the scholar while Zain was the creative mind in the family.
After graduation from high school. Aaliyah was accepted to the prestigious AFMC (Armed Forces Medical College) in Pune. She would finally end up being a physician in the Navy. Zain, on the other hand refused to go to college. After a lot of discussion and arguments, much to Asad's chagrin, Zoya took her son's side and sent him on a world tour to find himself.'
Finally, Zain returned one day, member of an international rock band (something like the One direction).
During this period, Zoya continued to pursue her career in art. Her paintings were exhibited all over the country and she eve won some awards for her artwork.
Asad continued to get recognition and regular promotions in the Navy.
Farhan, a brilliant mathematician was accepted at the Massachusetts Instt Of Technology in Boston for an undergraduate program. He was a computer whiz, just like his father, but unlike his father was hired by a prestigious computer security firm in the US after his graduation from MIT.
On their 25th wedding anniversary, Aaliyah and Zain gifted their parents a seven day package to a Mediterranean cruise on the same route as the one where Asad and Zoya had first met each other. They relived their past and reminisced how they had met and fallen in love on the cruise 30 years ago. To Asad's relief, Zoya didn't land into any trouble while they were aboard the ship. She had learnt to be more cautious and he had learnt to be more carefree. They were still quite different and argued a lot but converged on the most important things in their lives- their love for each other, their families and their values.
Thanks again to all the readers who stuck with me throughout this journey. I enjoyed writing this fan fic. Hope we meet again...
Here is a song dedicated to the love birds as they stand on the deck of the cruise on a quiet, dark night, celebrating their 25 years of married life and 30 + years of love...
