I do agree with a lot of what you are saying - however, as much as I am not opposed to the story of ZoYaan - I now have a few issues with the OTPs them being:
1. Both brothers showed utter callousness and disregard to women they claimed to love and both women have forgiven them without much of fight. While Asad was character assassinated in April and Humeira was always weak - they have now completely assassinated a supposed modern and progressive woman like Zoya. None of the leads, post this story, are rootable.
2. Zoya has been portrayed as completely blameless. Her initial foolishness has been overlooked and brushed over thanks to the situation being worsened by both brothers. Hence, no character growth for her. In the situation of the accidental nikaah, I agree she was emotionally blackmailed ya da ya da, however she needed to realize her utter foolishness is running on her wedding day and not telling someone. But now she will never learn because the mistake the brothers made is far worse.
3. Zoya no longer is progressive. In the name of "love" you have completely declawed and regressed Zoya. The girl who defied her beloved aapi and jiju to stand up for what's right for her is now dead.
4. The Nikhat situation - again while I don't expect SM to be smart - why did no sibling think to suggest psychiatric care for her? I actually don't think the sacrifice was the right thing to do because who the heck gave anyone the right to sacrifice one life for another?!? It's archaic.
5. This is my biggest gripe - if the story was to separate AsYa - they have failed miserably. It is not believable, especially since the writers already have them sharing "romantic" hugs. If the writers felt the need to show AsYa then why do the story in the first place. They are being duplicitous and it is dishonest storytelling. If this was Gul's original storyline she either needs to have the guts to say I am showing it and screw what you people think or not do it at all. This in the middle nonsense isn't working for anyone.
Do I think AsYa could be married by the end of this month? - Yes. Do I care for the characters or this so called momentous event? - No. The characters have been ruined and frankly at this point the only way to redeem the main protagonist, Zoya, is for her to show the finger to both men and find a nice, smart man in NY. But since that's not going to happen - I will resign myself to watching the show without interest, praising the few decent drama-filled episodes we get.
