chapter 14

After lunch najma and family take leave , and asad excuse himself to go to office. Asya is playing around the hall with D and Z watching over her.

Z: poophi did u spoke to asad about what I said.

D: no zoya..

Z...

D: I am seeing hope in my son eyes after years... I don't have the heart to tell him the truth... it will break him... cant u change ur decision... please think about... I promise nothing will go wrong this time... just stay here...if u don't want to marry asad... please stay with me as my daughter...and ur daughter needs u too..

Z: I will think about it...

In the evening the family is playing blindfold with asya, D and Z in the hall... The hall is made into a empty space and the 3 are playing... Zoya became a child with asya.. and both Mom-dau argue a lot during playing just like A-Z.

It was zoya turn to be blindfolded.. and she is trying to catch them and the door opens suddenly,as zoya is standing close to the door, she looses her balance... and asad just holds her...mitwaa pose.. zoya knows whose arms are holding her... but didn't want to move. Asad just takes her into a body crushing hug...involuntarily zoya hugs him back... both are last in each other...the longing, craving they have each other... turns the hug into a passionate one...

Asya comes and say...mujhe bhi hug chaahiyee...

A and Z.. realize their postion and comes out,zoya removes her blindfold and asad picks her up for a family hug.. asad eyes were filled with tear... but they were the tears of happiness... zoya could see the happiness...she was happy.. too... in the hug... but somehow she is still tensed...and scared... Fate has played a deadly game with her... she is scared to have hopes... being with asad...scared something worse will happen again... and pulls herself from the hug. Asad was watching zoya face... Ofcourse who else can read her face better then asad...

Z: asya now ur abbu is here will u have ur dinner... it is time to sleep u know...

As: ok ammi...abbu will u feed me...

A: yes sweet heart

Asad goes and changes and come and places his daughter in his lap and feeds her.. Z and D are enjoying the F-D moment. He coaxes asya to finish the full plate which she does to the astonishment of Z

Z: asya... u finished the whole plate... when I ask u ... U always leave things behind.

As:ammi...i am daddy princess... when dad ask I cant say no...naa and abbu feeds me... it taste really sweet u know... and abbu promised Barbie for me... So I finished.

Asad has brought a lot of toys for asya...(similar to Hum Aapke Hai kaun..imagine the dikhtaan song)...after asya dinner he goes out bring all the toys from his SUV... since the hall is already empty. He arranges all the toys in the hall... And dilshad is helping him... zoya is awestruck looking at the toys... they r just like that things in the folder...of his computer..

Asya was jumping in joy... she is looking at all of them... And running around them... and playing with them...

Z: poophi...why these many toys in one day...look at her she is already half crazy... but she will have somemore expectations for the next ...day

A: ammi I planned all these for her... So I got for my daughter... and I fulfill all her expectations... Whatever it is... She will have whatever she want...

Z: poophi... I am not saying not to buy for her... But all in one day...she will be spoiled...then she will never understand the hardness of life... and will not learn the reality of life... not everything we wish will happen in our life...

Asad could see stark reality in zoya statement...

A: sorry...

Z: it is ok poophi...I could sense the reason behind this...but u people should also know that ur granddaughter is going to live here with her abbu and grandma...so u can pamper her a lot... but I do know that u will keep her feet grounded...

D: she wants her ammi too...

D: asya u want ur ammi with u...don't u..(D knows she is emotionally blackmailing Z, but she knows how ziddi Z...is...it is the only way)

Asya on hearing the questions leaves all the toys and come and hug her ammi...and says...

ASYA NEEDS BOTH AMMI AND ABBU... AFTER ALLi am AS AND YA... ASAD AND ZOYA...am I right ammi...

Z picks up asya and says... Yes u r as and ya... but doesn't answer the question..

Z: asya it is time to sleep

As: ammi please can I play some more...plz... with abbu...

Zoya thinks asya already knows how to fulfill her demand... and smiles and nods..

Both asya and asad are sitting and playing all the toys...more than Z .. D has tears in his eyes...she is looking at the 8 year old innocent asad infront of her. There is no tension in his face... just pure happiness... she looks at Z... and zoya is lost in the scene infront of her... she could feel the happiness in asad... This was her aim... in life... to see asad like this... carefree full of life and full of hope... This is what she promised herself the day she conceived asya... today she fulfilled her promise... She silently picks up her ipad and start shooting the whole scene infront of her. D comes and take Z for a hug and her eyes were filled with so much gratitude. They both sit and look at the two kids playing infront of them

Asad is showing asya how the train plays and shows all the toys... he shows the elephant... And tells how people ride on a elephant...

AS: abbu I want to ride on elephant. Abbu...now..

A: now...

As: yes please abbu..

Asad gets an idea and puts himself on his four and becomes a elephant and ask asya to climb over..and looks at zoya for help. Z come and places asya on asad back. And asad moves in his four with zoya holding asya securely in his back. And D continue to shoot the whole thing.

AS:.. haathi...fast... asad goes fast... haathi...slow... asad goes slow... zoya eyes are really overflowing with tears... She never had a childhood with her father... It was just herself...all her life... she thanked god that she gave the best father to her daughter...

After sometime asya became tired of the game and gets down.. then asad lies on the floor with his back on the floor.. then suddenly asya comes and jumps on him.. and hugs her daughter to his heart... And taps her back softly...asya... slowly goes into the world of sleep in her fathers arm...

Asad senses that asya is asleep... carefully picks her up in his arms and takes her to zoya room and puts in her bed.. and cover her and places a kiss in her forehead.

He comes to the hall to see D and Z sitting in the dining table waiting for him join. Zoya was sitting at a corner.. asad comes and takes his place and they eat their dinner all 3 of them. The place which was filles with joy and laughter was now filled with pindrop silence...asad looks at zoya who was just playing with her food and has her eyes only on the food. Asad remembers past... when his dinning table will look like a crowded street with zoya voice, her sharyies, overflowing there... now looking at his zoya. ... Silent and lost...somewhere...he just couldn't digest it...he is responsible for this... the guilt was killing him...inside... He couldn't eat anymore.. and just leaves the table... D could watch and understand his son... is silently praying the almighty... .
