Zoya was basically a slave ...standing in the slave market being sold and bought by men who believes that woman are a commodity. It was a pathetic display of barbarism.
I have never liked Asad as a character...infact, this is one character I very much dislike because has repeatedly abused Zoya physically and mentally. But down the road it made me see him in a different light...I thought that the separation and the Ajmer track made him realize Zoya's place in his life and he would put her first above everything...but it didn't happen ...did it . I despise men like Asad...just hate such men.
What did he do instead...the first chance he got to protect her ...he throws her away as a garbage...yes, he sold her as if she were his commodity to save his very self pitying half sister..a woman who keeps on trying to commit suicide because she is not being able to get married...what a pathetic existence and mentality Nikhat has ...a worthless life and existence whose only goal is to get married...go get a life and a job woman.
I work with women who have come out of horrific life situations...who have been raped and battered...who have been scarred for life...but they still didn't give up. What excuse does Nikhat has? Doesn't she has a doting family...at her beck and call...anyways this post is not about someone as insignificant of a person like Nikhat but is about a serious issue about selling a woman as if she were a commodity.
Gul khan...you do understand that after Zoya has been sold off by her master Asad...to his half brother Ayaan...there cannot be a Asya anymore because after this horrendous display of slavery any decent self respected woman would ever take back the same man who sold her in the first place. You have successfully closed down Asya.
