Ok, so I was reading this novel by Sophie Kinsella and I fell in love with it and I wanted to get it out of my system so I wrote kinda the similar story on AsYa! Story is kinda similar so credit goes to Sophie kinsella's novel! I absolutely loved the idea of giving footnotes which I had initially ignored cuz I thought footnotes are just that, footnotes but when I read em, I found em interesting and I wanted to use that method in my story as well so while reading do look out for superscript! example - "find1." The superscript will be written in the end (I mean ofcourse it's a footnote after all) and do read em!
Ok ill stop my jibberjabber! And oh, it's gonna be a Three-shot, not an SS, not an FF!
The Wedding
~PROLOGUE~
- So how's work? x Zoya.
- Fine!
I rolled my eyes at his response. So typical of Asad to be curt and to the point while someone is trying to make conversation. I texted back a sassy reply, sort of.
- Because using sentences is too mainstream!
- Zoya I'm busy.
Really that was his reply? 1
- Yep, apparently so busy that you don't even have time for your friend who is getting married in a week. Grr!
I was really angry with Asad! How can someone be busy while their friend is getting married? How can anyone be too busy to attend their friend's engagement party? In anger I kept the phone away from not wanting to see his reply but I couldn't stop myself from peering at it every now and then just to check if he texted, which he didn't and that annoyed me even more2.
I waited for a few more minutes but when he didn't reply I decided to just call him. Yeah that'll be the best thing to do. He won't be able to leave me hanging if I call him. With this though in mind I grabbed my phone and scrolled through the pre-programmed numbers, and once I reached the name "Asad" I hit call. I was mentally preparing a long speech to give to Asad once he answers my call and I was very confident about it, I could feel my grin widening only to be wiped off when the call was sent off to voicemails. With a roll of my eyes I slammed the phone shut and flopped down on the couch again3. I was still sitting on the couch with my hands across my chest and a pout adorning my face when I felt a pair of arms wrapped around me and I instantly knew who it was. I smiled and leaned into his touch and he placed a sloppy kiss on my neck.
"Chatting with the girls, hun?" Ayaan, my fiance asked me and pointed at the abandoned phone beside me. I looked at him and simply shrugged. I didn't like hiding anything from him4, but Ayaan had some issues with me talking to Asad. He had his own ideas about how it's kind of impossible for a boy and a girl to be "good" friends without harboring any feelings towards them.
"Don't forget to buy some packets of Twinings English Breakfast Tea and even some more milk while coming back from work tomorrow." He said in a low voice and started walking towards our room.
"Why would I do that? As far as I know no one in this house drinks tea." I replied back, making him stop in his tracks.
"Yeah but my dad does. You know his obsession with the English tea." He replied matter of factly and proceeded to walk towards our room when I stopped him again.
"Your parents are coming here? And you didn't even tell me?" I all but screeched.
"I didn't?" he asked innocently as if mentioning his parent's arrival did slip his mind.
"I must have forgot." He replied when I shook my head in a negative.
"I'm sorry hun, but what's the big deal? I'm sure you'll handle everything perfectly well." He blew me a kiss and went inside the room.
Of course it wasn't a big deal for him but it was for me. His parents, let's just say aren't too fond of me5. I needed a quick drink so I grabbed my phone and texted my wedding planner/ friend Humaira.
- #DangerAlert! Monsters-in-laws coming tomorrow. I need a drink. :( xxx Zoya.
- Let's meet at Joe's in thirty. :) xx Humzie
1 - Why am I surprised? That's his reply almost every time I have a complaint against him.
2 - Annoyed? And me? At Asad? Yeah right! I can't even be annoyed when my bitchy neighbor spreads rumour about how I have a skeleton in my basement. Can't blame her though, she is old and she is a psycho.
3 - Yeah that's my way of sulking.
4 - Ok who am I kidding? I hid many things from him. It's not really healthy in a relationship is it?
5 - and by that I mean they absolutely hate me and keep praying Ayaan changes his mind about marrying me.
