This track is a disgrace. This is regressive and offensive stuff being portrayed in the name of love and sacrifice. No woman should be treated this way and no woman should allow herself to be treated this way.

Even I have no sympathy for Zoya today. She is not a poor helpless woman. She is an educated woman of means from NY. She should be shown reading them the riot act, putting on her running shoes and getting the hell away from that mess.

Ayaan and Asad...No words.

thanks...it's horrendous the way they showed Zoya.

Hey Pri deary, long time no see!I'm just as appalled as you are! What message is Gul trying to send out?First of all Zoya is no gou ki chori or some prehistoric stature from the ancient times,to see her be handled like this without her will or any say was just totally absurd..Wasn't she supposed to be the modern liberal progressive girl? How could she just let the man she loves or the man that claims to love her treat her like mere private property and just be dragged like that to accept something which has no entity.Asad had no rights to make a such a lurid decision on her part anZoya just open their stupid mouths andd she should have not been shown to just silently accept it as the sacrificial goat. What beats me is why don't Ayaan and zoya tell everyone their account of things leading upto all this?As far as they are concerned they were not even aware that a marriage is taking place along with vows and rituals. This marriage has not been solmenised in any shape or form either religiously or legally. This is just the heights of insanity!
gul expects everyone to just take this with a pinch of salt and whole heartedly accept AsYa after this dementia and to accept that women are just mere sacrificial goats at the hands of men who have no say or the rights to live their lives the way they want with their terms and conditions? They can either have their decisions made for them or just resort to suicide when the going gets tough?
Gul being a modern liberal Muslim women herself coming up with all this shite just makes me question her prerogatives.I for one dnt knw or think I can carry on watching this appalling spectacle anymore and actually how many out here can and few months down the line erase all this and accept AsYa again?
So

I dont understand why people would bring this up. Its a show. When a rape scene is being shown in any show, it doesnt mean a writer is not against rape or is in favour. When a murder is being shown, it doesnt mean the writer is promoting it. Then why this? Its a show with the characters being shown as close to reality as possible. Its THEIR story. It has just been penned down by Gul Khan, and she can do whatever she wills with it. Its her story. She's not teaching anyone anything nor does she have a social responsibility more than maybe the guidelines off certain censor board or anything. Its her story where she wants to show the minds of the character, not HER mind!
Coming to the show now, do you think Asad just gave her away for his brother as a commodity? I think not. I think there was more behind it. How could he let Zoya live with the guilt of romancing him while she was legally married off to Ayaan? So he didn't 'give her away', he just freed her from him. Dragged her and showed her that this is how she should live now, this is how she would feel at peace now. She is not obliged at all. She could fly off to the USA if she wants to. But no, Asad wants the best for her too. A respectable life, where noone can taunt her, noone can call her bad. Asad is more than a lover to Zoya. He's like a mentor.

So IMO, Gul doesn't sit behind her desk and pen a story for a moral, she just makes a story about a certain family or person. And give them their own minds. She said she wants to remove the bad ideas about muslims from the society through the show, but she never meant her every track or her every dialogue would serve the prupose. Its a story which gradually will bring that lesson, that moral if you may, but not in every track, every scene or dialogue.

shazie I pm'd you with details...coming to the story...exactly, I cannot accept Asya as a couple anymore after today...to me it seemed like she was in a slave market...getting sold and bought by masters. It was pathetic to watch it...just crap. How dare Zoya lets a man treat her this way?

in all her previous interviews Gul has explicitly mentioned that Qubool hai is a way for her to eliminate misconceptions about Islam the the respective culture...by saying that she did voluntarily take the social responsibility on herself...every citizen has a moral and social obligations and particularly the ones who are in the media...
Anyways, coming to the serial...it doesn't matter what Asad thinks or feels what is right for Zoya...Zoya is not his child...she is a grown woman who clearly doesn't consider this nikaah as valid...Asad doesn't have the right to impose his decisions on her...yes, she has the right to walk out and go back to NewYork and according to the video's I have seen she will exactly do the same...try to run out...but Asad will force her to stay.

If you think Asad wants to free her...he very well can do it by denying to marry her...he surely doesn't have to force her to stay with Ayaan. I am appalled by the fact that you mentioned that the society would talk...so they will talk...how does it affect Zoya if she is in NewYork?

I just watched Mahabharata today before QH and believe me some of the women characters are strongrr than ny current Qh women character which is supposed to be show present situation...I will prefer to live in that time where a woman had the power to change everything and where everyone listened to her(case satyawati) rather than here where a girl is commofied

yes...women in Mahabharata were extremely strong...but when I mentioned Mahabharata in my post I meant specifically when Yudhistri knowingly pawned draupadi in the game of chess...implying that she was a commodity.
Sati too was a ritual performed where a woman was burned alive with the remains of the dead husband. This is not that age.

Yeah I got that...I meant that I would rather be a woman like satyawati than be zoya...I think gul's definition of modern is limited to clothes

True that, most of us are international viewers so as far as they are concern we don't matter in the trp race.
This is exactly what I have been saying, I have watched some true life documentary where women have suffered some true horror, I have heard some story that would turn your stomach and make a grown man cry, I have seen abuse cases when children have suffered intolerable cruelty in the shelter where I volunteer, and none of them have take the step that Nikhat too, I could remember one young girl told me what is the point killing oneself, why give the person the satisfaction of thinking the have broken you, this was a girl age 18yrs who has been abuse from the age of three and as a good bye gift from her abuser he slash her across the face, yet this girl has hope and strength. Then when you look at a fictional show like this, because a girl who's proposal has been broken a few times she was willing to kill herself, I seriously have to ask myself what are these people showing on television are we as a society so lacking that we call this entertainment and drama.
There is something wrong when one has to stoop to this level for a few brownie points, Gul should be ashamed to show these nonsense, when women have fought and are still fighting so hard to break the age old Stereotype and show the world that a girl can be a doctor, a lawyer she can be anything she wants to be, that women are more than someone wife and housemaid. A woman is not a property that can be traded at the drop of a hat.
What was shown today was an insult to free will and free choice, no matter how gul twist this, what is happening to Zoya is not free will it is force.
Sorry if I offend anyone but I cannot take this nonsense anymore, it is type these people stop taking serious issues and making it a joke just for entertainment.
