Okay am still not over yesterday's epi and don even intend to discuss this crap..But i really am curious about a few things😆 Why is there so much regressiveness shown on Indian Telly? Its not just about this show to be honest..There is another show which i shall not name where the female lead is beaten up by her hubby and he also forces alcohol down her throat..Yet, instead of dumping his ass, she gives lectures about reforming the guy and having poora bharosa on her ability to do so😆 Is this the right thing to show to the society? I understand we like drama but drama at what cost? Does regressiveness and commodification of women sell on TV? Are we underestimating the intelligence of the TRP audience? Or is Gul spot on when she says high class realism doesn't sell? Would people reject a female lead who has the ability to stand up for herself? Would people reject a male lead who does not sacrifice for all and sundry? What stops them giving us a strong female lead with self-respect? Aren't people bored of seeing self-sacrificing leads in every show?😆 The worse part is its women like Gul and Ekta who dish out such regressive crap to sell their show..I really am curious to know if people actually enjoy watching such stuff😕 Am not gonna blame them here cos shows like Rishta.com which deserve to do well fail to grab eyeballs but the ones which thrive on kitchen politics and regressive drama do well😆 Do we like watching the female lead cry 24/7 and have no sense of self-preservation?😕 Do we get cheat thrills out of watching the male lead be all abusive and violent with the female lead? Recently, this movie called Grand Masti which is an adult comedy surprised everyone by doing exceedingly well and i realized that sex sells and there are no two ways about it..And am not gonna be judgmental about that here😆 So i do wanna know if regressive drama sells and Gul or Ekta for that matter are just giving what people want to see..Or do they just assume that it sells and keep dishing out such crap? Are they just trying to be on the safer side and refuse to experiment?😆 I really am confused here..You have shows which just stick to showing normal day to day problems with a tinge of saas-bahu drama and they actually do exceedingly well..It seems boring and inconsequential but its obvious people love that show..So why resort to such crass melodrama to gain TRPs?😕 The last time i was this disgusted with a TV show was when the male lead dropped the female lead off the first floor and even worse made her sleep outside on their first night & that was actually supposed to be angsty and romantic😕 Am sorry but its impossible for me to tolerate so much regressiveness in the name of drama..Such blatant commodification of women? How low can you stoop for TRPs? Please don make this an argument about ZoYaan or Asad cos its not about them..Am not talking about the story or whether they were in character..Its a silly fictional show at the end of the day..But am appalled that they think its ok to show such stuff..Barter system and loaning of a woman for a month's time? Really? You gotta be kidding me🥱 This is such a sick way to glorify your leads man..But yeah, am not really interested in discussing the show here..I just wanna know whether the TRP audience in reality enjoy such crass drama..And trust me, no amount of good acting can cover up for such outrageous drama..They can have Leo and Kate play the leads for all i care and it'l still be impossible for me to digest this crap😆
Oh and most of these shows make it seem like marriage is the be all and end all of life.Why is it that none of the female leads work after marriage? All they do is sacrifice and be the Agony aunt to all and sundry..And not to mention, they are treated like a doormat and they just shut up & swallow it all..After so much talk about feminism and women's rights, we enjoy watching such stuff? I don expect Gul or Ekta to give me a Suits or Grey's Anatomy😆 But am just appalled that they resort to such sick glorification of the women in their show😆
Am not sure if am making sense here but its just that am still so disgusted with what was shown yesterday..Please don make this into a debate on ZoYaan..I don care now cos all the characters are idiots and i don feel sorry for anyone..AT ALL😆
P.S.There was a crossover epi of QH with another show where the male lead just randomly decided to get the female lead married to a guy he met in that marriage around five minutes back😆 That day, i was proud of QH cos despite all the humbistar crap, there was still some sanity in the show and the female lead was still treated as a woman and not a commodity..But after yesterday's epi, i realized that it was just a classic case of pot calling the kettle black cos all the soaps are the same at the end of the day😆
