Three

As Jai and Zoya went over their questions and dialogues Rhea and Aarav started to capture shots and images of the Moti Mahal, its residence especially the children gathered around them in excitement asking them questions about their equipment and what they were doing, Rhea's Hindi wasn't brilliant so she relied heavily on Aarav to translate.

Zoya and Jai started off with their introductions, they set out a little background into what their documentary was and why they felt it was important to highlight the issue of child employment. They talked through other concerns they had that related to child employment and that was exploitation, abuse, education and crime. Rhea and Aarav were proving to be good directors, they made Zoya and Jai take at least three takes before they Okayed the shot. It was finally time to meet with families and their children. Arvand Shinde had Tony not only give them instructions of what they can and can't do but also a list of families and people they could talk to. The first family they met with consisted of middle aged parents two daughters aged 15 and 11 and three young sons aged 8, 5 and 3. The eldest daughter stayed at home to help her mum and looked after the little 3 year old, whilst the father and the other children went to work. The father worked as a shoe mender, the young girl worked as a cleaner for a local office along with a few other girls from the colony and the two young boys collected plastic bottles and metal scraps for recycling.

The money they made was barely enough to feed them or cloth them appropriately. The mother went on to say that her family has lived like this for generations, education is not seen as important, they do what they need to for survival, and if that means keeping their children at home and sending them to work at a young age then so be it. The young girl kept herself away, Zoya tried to interact with her but she didn't really respond its ok, you can come and sit with us' Zoya said again woh nahi ayegi' (she will not come) the mother said. The mother explained that people of Moti Mahal didn't really mix or communicate with the outside world, the little communication they had was either with their work or with people with a neighbouring colony that was very similar to them, she said that despite living in poverty and not having all that one needed to live an amicable life they had no complaints, the leaders of Moti Mahal helped them in their times of need and that everyone stuck together, they supported one another.

The group were impressed, as they carried on meeting families and their children the one thing that stood out was their solidarity, their commitment to one another. They had little faith in the government and believed that the society they lived in didn't care about them, it was a world where the rich got richer and the poor got forgotten. They day was proving to be very emotional and tiresome for all of them, the heat, the humidity was not helping either you really should have worn a tee shirt Zoya, you must be so hot in that' Rhea said as she fanned herself with a piece of paper, Zoya's face was turning red and she looked flushed can we take a break and come back when the sun isn't so high up, this place is starting to suffocate me' everyone agreed, they had been going on for three hours straight. we can meet back here at around three, that should give us enough time to wrap everything up for today' Jai said as he picked up his rucksack.

Aarav asked one of the residents if there was a coffee shop close by where they could get some lunch, as they made their way towards the caf Zoya started to really feel the heat, she stood on the road's edge waiting to cross the road, the rest of them managed to run to the other side leaving her behind. The road was extremely busy with little time in between for them to run, Zoya waited a few seconds and as soon as she saw a gap she attempted to run only to lose her balance and fall to the floor Zoya' Aarav and Rhea screamed as they saw a lorry come towards her, Zoya looked up at them and then towards the lorry that was coming straight for her over taken by fear she felt her body go limp Ya Allah...' She whispered, she closed her eyes and as soon as she did she felt a pair of hands grab her and pulled her back on to the footpath. She fell on top of a hard body, she could feel her erratic heart beat against this foreign body, Zoya slowly opened her eyes to meet two very intense eyes look back at her as her vision cleared further she was able to see his whole face, and what a face it was.

Totally forgetting what had just surpassed a few seconds ago Zoya totally lost herself, she was mesmerised by this stranger that was still holding on to her are you totally insane' a stern voice came breaking her out of her little reverie, Zoya body jolted a little and he soon let go of her, as they both stood up Zoya stood there holding onto her arm which she had grazed, she continued staring at him as he brushed off the dirt from his clothes. Once he had finished he looked up at her pedestrian crossings are there for a reason...either you are really stupid or you have no love for your life'. Zoya looked at him, she opened her mouth but words failed to come I...' she was just about to speak when she felt Rhea grab her shoulder making her turn towards her are you ok...gosh I was so scared' Zoya nodded and then looked at the handsome stranger who had just saved her wearing khaki bottoms, and black tank top and a bandana to match he looked no less than an action hero, his biceps were sculpted to perfection. Before Zoya could say anything the stranger turned around and walked off, Zoya wanted to call after him but couldn't as she started to wince in pain Zoya, your arm its bleeding...we need to get you to a hospital' Jai said, his voice laced with concern no...I mean I don't need a hospital, let's see if we can find a pharmacy I can just get some band aid, it's not a deep cut'.

After a hectic day the group finally packed up and headed back to their halls. Zoya jumped into the shower and then straight into bed, she was supposed to be meeting up with Najma and Rehan for dinner but took a rain check. Every time Zoya attempted to close her eyes his face flash before her, on any other day it was usually hard to get Zoya to shut up and the one time that she really needed to say something she couldn't get herself to speak go to sleep Zoya' she said to herself as she squeezed her eyes shut.

The next day started off well, they were really getting to see much more of Moti Mahal and how people lived, there was a lot to be admired and so much to learn from, one thing was for sure that they certainly did take their own lives for granted, everything was always given to them on a silver platter, all they had to do was ask once and as if by magic it would appear right before them. The people of Moti Mahal and hundred and thousand other like them who lived across countries like India, Pakistan and Bangladesh lived through some of the most harshest of conditions but yet they continued to live, not once did they step back, they took whatever life threw at them.

As Zoya and Jai continued carrying out their interview they were disturbed by some noise in the back ground, Rhea and Aarav also stopped to see what was going on. A young girl came running towards them screaming for help, she was being chased by three ugly looking thugs who were shouting out to her to stop. Zoya stepped outside and as soon as she did the girl collided with her making them both fall back ouch' Zoya yelped, as she got up so did the girl and then stood behind her, her whole body was shaking her breathing was fast and uncontrollable mujhe bachalo...' (save me) she whimpered as she grabbed onto Zoya's top. Zoya looked up at the three guys who now stood in front of her, Rhea, Jai and Aarav came and joined her isn't that one of Shinde's guys...the one who was with him when we met him?' Rhea whispered. Aarav stepped forward to ask them what the problem was the man who was at the front spoke in a very aggressive manner telling us to get out of their way and to mind our own business just as Aarav was going to retort back Tony came to the scene. He dispersed the men giving them a watchful look and then turned to the girl asking her to come out from behind Zoya. He ordered her to give him the package she was holding and then told her to go home immediately. Zoya looked at the exchange between Tony and the girl what was all that about, why were they chasing her' she asked straight out. Tony looked at her and then narrowed his eyes this is not of your concern, you finish your filming then leave...you have until the end of the day and that's it...you are not welcome here after that'.

Tony left the four of them stumped as they watched his retreating back Rhea started to fidget guys...something is not right with this place...I don't want to be here any longer than we have to so let's just get this damn thing finished' Aarav nodded and started to walk back to where they had set up, the others following pursuit.

Due to what had just happened the last family they went to visit was not so co-operative, every time the wife would open her mouth to say something she would be hushed by her husband. In the end they just gave up and packed up their belongings. They finally made their way back to their halls of residence exhausted from another hot and very much unpredictable day I know the other groups have booked out the editing rooms, so we won't get to work on this until Friday, is that ok with everyone?' Jai asked yes...I'll see you all in lesson tomorrow' Zoya said as she left to go and meet with Najma and Rehan, she really needed a catch up session with them.

Hi All
please see below for Chapter 4. My sincere thanks to all those who have liked and commented on the story. If i can be honest I am a little hesitant to continue, as I feel not a lot of people are liking this. Please be honest and let me know what you think.

Four

Zoya, Najma and Rehan sat comfortably, Najma had chosen to have pizza, which Zoya hated but was happy to go along as she knew Najma loved pizza probably more than she loved Rehan. As they sat exchanging notes on the last two days Zoya's eyes wondered to a white SUV sitting across the road as she admired the smart looking vehicle she noticed a two guys who jumped out, it was only when she looked closely enough she realised that one of them was the same guy who had helped her Ya Allah...its him' she said half jumping out her seat who him?' Najma said looking outside to see what Zoya was so excited about there by the car, that guy...he is the one who helped me' calm down Zoya' Najma said confused at her over the top reaction. Do you think I should go and thank him...seeing I never managed to get a word out that day?' Najma shrugged her shoulders if you really want to...' Zoya never let Nama finish before she could say anything else Najma and Rehan saw Zoya run out the restaurant.

Crossing the road a lot more cautiously Zoya made it over to the other side. She stood behind the two men talking hello...excuse me' she called out only to be totally ignored, feeling a little silly she stepped closer and knocked on the bonnet of the jeep and spoke up louder excuse me...'. Zoya hand firmly pressed down on the bonnet of the car as she looked at him, she was sure that in all her nineteen years of life she had never come across anyone who had looked so good. Her silly teenage smile soon wiped off when she heard him speak do you mind getting your hands off my car...who are you and what do you want?' Zoya moved her hand back and took in a sharp breath almost regretting coming out umm I just...um wanted to say thank you for the other day' he looked at her confused 'what other day...do I know you' if Zoya felt stupid a few minutes ago there was no describing what she felt now, she cleared her throat yes, I was the one you helped...I fell on to the road' ahh yes of course the one who doesn't know how to use a pedestrian crossing' he said in a sarcastic tone, Zoya who already felt foolish was now verging on getting angry at his unnecessary rude manner look mister...there is no need for sarcasm, I only came to say thank you...' well if you have said it...you can leave' Zoya looked at him wide eye, the audacity of the man letting out a low growl in frustration Zoya turned on her heel and started to walk back only to be stopped by his voice hey... the name is not mister its Asad, Asad Ahmad Khan' Zoya stood and looked at him 'really...well just so you know too the name is not hey it is Zoya, Zoya Faooqui' with that she turned around and walked off back into the restaurant severely pissed off.

Zoya failed miserably at engaging in any further conversation with Najma and Rehan, her attention was all on the rude but rather handsome figure that stood outside. Come on let's go, it's getting late and we have an early start tomorrow' Rehan said as he pulled at Najma to finally get up Zoya' Najma called out, Zoya was too busy looking outside the window to have heard Najma or notice that they had got up ready to leave. Najma rolled her eyes making Rehan laugh she waved her hand in front of Zoya's face breaking her concentration 'Zoya...what has gotten into you...come on lets go' 'yeah...sorry...come let's go'.

Zoya took one last look at Asad before she jumped into the cab. Who was that girl?' Ayaan asked no one...I went to meet one of our informants near Moti Mahal, and I helped her' Ayaan raised his eyebrow at Asad 'really' 'yes really now stop giving me that look...what time did he say the deal was going to go down?' 8.30, a black jeep registration number MI98 23C is doing the drop off right there' Ayaan said pointing towards a small alley way a few blocks down. Asad handed Ayaan his ear piece I am going to walk up towards there, the minute you see anything let me know' will do'.

One thing that never ceased to amaze Asad was how punctual these crooks were as If on cue the black jeep turned the corner and pulled up by the alley way. One man came out a looked around casually before he went back to the car and pulled out a brief case and walked towards the alley way. Ayaan I am going in...I want you to come up and cover me from the jeep, I have asked Raj to bring the backup car' good luck' Ayaan simply answered.

Pulling out his gun, Asad followed the man through the alley. Asad was trained and skilled enough to pull down a whole army; his technical ability, calculated judgement, his attention to finer detail and a black belt in every martial art going made him a real universal solider. Walking through Asad soon came to a halt upon hearing voices, from what he could tell there were three men, one who came in the jeep and two others who would have been waiting for him. Asad edged closer, hiding himself behind an extended wall he managed to get a good look of all three men who stood under a dim light. Asad waited patiently for the men to finish their discussion, he needed to make his move once they had exchanged goods. This is the last consignment until the end of the month...the NIA (Narcotics Intelligence Agency) has been hot on our backs, Victor wants to take no chances especially since we have discovered that someone is leaking information out' Asad smiled at himself before he stepped up in plain sight holding his gun out let's see what Victor has to say when he realises we have caught his little fish' the men stood looking shocked at the man who stood before them 'you know the drill boys...drop the bags and lift those hands up, you're officially busted'.

The man standing by the back wall slowly lowered his hand thinking that Asad would not have noticed uh huh...you want to keep that head on your shoulders then I wouldn't do that' Asad said playfully. The man from the jeep turned to face Asad 'you don't know who you are messing with...Victor will not spare you' pretending to be scared Asad started laughing 'really...only time will tell who will spare who'. As Asad's eyes roamed to the other two men the guy from the jeep jumped forward pulling his gun out 'you want your life...I suggest you move' he roared at Asad no chance...there is no way out so I suggest you stop with your bravado and put that thing down' giving Asad a menacing laugh the man pulled back the trigger and as he pressed down Asad rolled forward and knocked him down, trying to take advantage of the situation the other two men ran passed trying to escape only to be caught by a waiting Ayaan.

'Well done boys, I didn't expect anything less from you. Not only did you manage not to kill anyone you swept up three million worth of drugs and over two hundred thousand in hard cash' Ayaan and Asad stood in front of their boss feeling rather proud that the mission went to plan and as he quite rightly mentioned without any casualties.

Ayaan I'll drop you off, I am passing that way' Asad said as he picked up his mobile. Ayaan was the only person that knew everything about Asad; he was as close to him as any real brother would be. Ayaan lived with his mum; his father and older brother Azeem were in the army, which meant they spent a lot of travelling around or on the border. 'You sure you won't come in? Ammi will be happy to see you' not today, but give her my salaam, I will come to see her soon...Allah Hafiz'.
