Someone once said to that you should only trust someone who can see three things in you: the sorrow behind your smile, the love behind your anger and the reason behind your silence. After a long and continuous battle with life two people finally found that one person they unconsciously searched for and it was none other than Asad Ahmed Khan and Zoya Farooqui.
Like all great love stories Asad and Zoya's one wasn't easy sailing either, with the number of hurdles they had to face and overcome you would think that they were class one athletes. Asad and Zoya met under the most unusual of circumstances, and then kept on meeting, and with every meeting the circumstances became weirder and weirder, the unexpected run ins often being very unpleasant and filled with hostility. But how much longer would hostility and hate prevail, love and all things good one day would win over everything that was bad. They were two opposite sides of a river that beat all odds and came together to unite as one.
Asad was India's youngest, most proclaimed, hard hitting and most feared Narcotics Officer. At an age of twenty three, Asad had created a name for himself that was one to be reckoned with. His hard work, dedication and passion for his profession were second to none, something that was very much admired across the higher ranking officers. What made Asad fearless was that he had no one behind him, he was orphaned at a very young age, he himself made the man he was today, with a few friends to his name Asad lived like a true warrior, and his war was against the world and its people that created, mixed, and supplied India's most youngest and vulnerable with the most lethal of drugs. Drugs that ruined families, killing generations, for Asad alongside corruption, rape and torture of woman, drugs was one of the worst forms of crime, that he saw eating away at its people and nation.
Growing up in a deprived area, living in and out of orphanages Asad saw people that had been affected by drugs and who were at their lowest, his childhood friend Veer had become a victim and lost his life in the process. It was then Asad had vowed to be part of the force that aimed to put an end to this growing epidemic, it was then Asad started to take life seriously and worked towards his goal. The only problem was that Asad took everything too seriously, in his world there were no attachments, he was obstinate from any kind of emotions, to him the heart fulfilled one purpose only and that was to pump blood around the body for survival. For Asad emotions such as love were non-existent, he neither had the time, experience or ability to form any kind of relationships that were outside his professional arena. His best friends at work were Ayaan, his partner, Raj his junior officer and Mr Vishal Roy his commanding officer. The only interaction he ever had with the opposite sex was with his maid who was a middle aged lady he called Kaki.
For someone who lived on the edge and whose life was extremely unpredictable, Asad Ahmed Khan was always in control. But not for much longer, Asad Ahmed Khan's life was going to take the biggest and most unexpected turn of the century. A girl was going to come crashing into his world making him lose all control not only over his mind, but for the first time his heart, a girl that was going to evoke emotions and feelings he never knew existed, that he had never experienced. For the first time Asad Ahmed Khan was going to fall in love. And this girl was none other than Zoya Farooqui.
Zoya Farooqui a girl who lived for the moment, full of life and adventure. Zoya was a second year undergraduate Media student who had come on an exchange programme from America. She was studying at one of Mumbai's finest media and art institutes and lived in the college's halls of residence. Zoya lived in America with her cousin sister Zeenat and her husband Anwar, like Asad Zoya was also an orphan, her parents tragically passed away in a high speed collision when she was just six years of age. Luckily for her she had Zeenat and her family who took her in a looked after her as one of their own.
Zoya was studying to become a journalist, hoping to work internationally bringing live coverage of news from around the world. Zoya was an extremely confident girl, she never backed away from a challenge and always managed to hold her ground, one thing Zoya did best and that was fight for the truth and seek justice for those who were denied. Through her college years she worked as a volunteer for Amnesty International and on various projects for UNICEF. It was through her work with the two organisations that she decided on becoming a journalist reporting and covering the stark and harsh realities of today's world, to help educate people and bring changes no matter how big or small to the world. Although born and brought up in American, Zoya was a true Indian at heart, which is why she chose to come to India as part of her student exchange programme. Alongside Zoya came her two best friends Najma Ali and Rehan Malik.
Unlike Asad, Zoya understood the importance of relationships, emotions and love, her family and friends meant the world to her. Zoya believed in love but not in a clichd way, for her friendship, trust and respect were the foundation of any relationship and then it was her belief in Allah that if anything was meant to be it would be. Even at the age of nineteen Zoya had no interest in boys or men, her education and goal in life was way too important to be side tracked by an annoying boyfriend, and plus she had seen too much of Rehan and Najma together to want to be in a relationship. Najma and Rehan had been together since high school, the three of them were always together and still remained so today.
