I know this post is probably unrelated to the general angst in the forum! But, I just have a new question that I am hoping Gul will answer!
In an earlier interview, she had stated that she wanted to clear a lot of misconceptions about the religion, help the audience understand its progressive nature and so on!
However, there has been nothing in the show so far that has lent any strength to her initial claim. With this community nikaah, she only seems to be spreading falsities about her own religion amongst an audience. Since her protagonists are Muslim, she is unable to go the ghunghat route and hence, she has come up with the community nikaah just so she can create a mindblowing twist and generate high voltage drama! While the sad truth is she has only succeeded in making people laugh at the absurdity of the track.
It is nothing unusual for other shows and makers to twist Hindu rituals and traditions to suit their own purpose. But they do not claim to be clearing misconceptions.
Why didn't Gul leave Islam well and alone?
