The stranger in the cafe
APOV
The most beautiful smile I ever saw. That was what came to my mind when I saw her for the first time. I had been staring at her from a distance, even I don't know for how long. There she was, smiling, laughing and probably sharing gossip with her friends over a cup of coffee. I don't know what pulled me towards her, maybe it was her dimples that dug deep into her cheeks or maybe her laughter. If her smile was the most beautiful smile I ever saw then her laughter was the most melodious sound I've ever heard. It sounded of wind chimes, sweet and soothing to my ears. Her face was innocent and angelic, bared of any makeup yet she was beautiful. I couldn't miss the way her almond-shaped, kohl-lined eyes lit up whenever she smiled and I could feel her smile mirror on my face. She had the power to lighten up my world, and even I didn't know why. Who was she to me nothing but a stranger whom I just saw a few hours ago yet I felt a certain kind of pull towards her. The twinkle in her eyes, her smile, her dimples, and her voice were enchanting. It was like she was casting some type of spell on me, bewitching me.
I wanted to walk up to her and take her in the sanctuary of my arms, never to let her go, but I knew I couldn't so I stood where I was, gazing at from a distance. I just stood there transfixed, smiling when she smiled, frowning when she frowned. I know I might look like a creepy stalker but I didn't care. I wanted to take the most of this moment. I wanted that smile to be etched in my memory forever, never to be erased. The world around me seemed to have come to a standstill, it was just me and her. I heard one of her friends call out to her,
"Zoya!"
'Zoya' I found myself repeating the name like it was some mantra. Zoya – which meant life, and she was, she was full of life. I saw her get up and leave. I frowned and started walking towards her but she was too far from me. I increased my pace to try to reach her but I was late. I saw her disappear in the crowd and I knew I had lost her. I stared towards the crowd, hoping to see a glimpse of her but I only faced disappointment. She was gone but her name and her smile will forever be with me, in my mind and in my heart. If it's in our destiny then we will meet again, maybe today maybe tomorrow and till then I'll make do with her memories, with her smile!
The END!
Our English teacher had given us this assignment where we had to write a short fiction starting with the line The most beautiful smile I ever saw, and I thought about writing on AsYa😆
Now this was what I had written but my teacher said absolutely nothing about it! She just stood there with that poker face which reminded me of grumpy cat while I stood beside her, reading it out for the class to hear, pissing me off so much. She is the teacher right? Isn't she supposed to give her criticisms? So pretty please with a cherry on the top leave your comments and tell me how this was! i know its small cuz we just had to write a very small template kinda not more than 150 words yet i wrote 300 plus words 😆 leave your lovee
Sadie! ❤️
