I think that with everyone commenting, I will too.

I believe that Gul is building these two characters to the point of unconditional faith. This is the beginning of the long journey, like Asad said in the note when he gave Zoya the sorry gift.

This is just the tip of the iceberg of what awaits them. In this twists and turns of the long journey, Gul will build the faith they have upon each other. It will not require proofs, recordings or anything else. It will be just a simple as, because you SAID it did NOT happen, then for me it did not happen, no matter what my eyes saw. Unconditional faith in the other.

Zoya and Asad are now one entity. Regardless of their internal recognition of this fact or not. This test of their love and belief in each other is a step towards that unconditional faith, because now they can not exist without the other. What pains one will pain the other, and what gives joy to one, will be goal of the other to achieve.

Though a very painful episode, my heart cried for them both, this is beginning of the solidification of this beautiful couple.
