I am overwhelmed by your feedback. Thank you so much. 🤗
Dilshaad: 🤗 I want to hug this mom and mom in law. The Dilshaad you have penned is so dignified, graceful and above all, wise. Her relationship with her adult kids is one I envy. She let's them be and yet is there to guide them and nudge them. Her relation with Asad, she is his strength, his sounding board. I loved her visit to his office. She does not have to spell it out to him, she indicates and he deduces. I am big big big fan of conversations that have the unsaid, the words that are understood, the connection someone has with another person that they get it how it is. And you do this absolutely brilliantly. You have done this before in your other stories, I am in love with how well you nail the subtlety, always. 👏
And then with Zoe, she has lunch with her, broaches the subject, and then makes sure she had her say. She let Zoe be. She is both sense and sensibility in this family.
The chapter ends with her smile, and I was 😃
Asad: The passionate man, he loves, cares and gives with all his being. Everything. When he is confused, lost and are plagued with self doubts, his mother, his pillar, makes him feel like a child he was. 🤗 The foundation of your story is incredible Noe, it showed every bit in the office scene and the how you wrote it.
Pehli baat, I love Dilshaad. She is my role model for a mother. I would say about her relationship with Asad that they are still attached by an invisible umbilical cord. In 97% of cases (I just made up the number, but you get it 😉), I would term it as an unhealthy relationship. We have enough of mama's boys on TV and in real life. But, here, because it is Dilshaad on one side, their relationship is in a league of its own. She knows the hold that she has on her son, but she never oversteps her boundaries. Indeed, she is one of the most dignified and graceful character that I have seen.
I wanted to play the current scenario - Zoya learning truth and shocked by it - differently. There was enough of moping, crying, when she was hurt the first time. And, that reaction made sense then. This time, when Asad had won her love again, I wanted to have an atmosphere of optimism and Dilshaad was the one who could to do this - attached yet detached. Asad just needed to be reassured, reminded of that he himself built the forgotten relationship, and told that things are not as bad as they look. Office was a better place, because that is one place where Asad has mostly seen success. I am allergic to sermons 😉😆 and Dilshaad is such a perceptive and wise woman that metaphorical message would be her way - I guess. And, as you said, when a relationship is as strong as between her and Asad words are often superficial. The mother also had a very practical motive - her child needed to eat his lunch.😊
Najma: The friend who wants to help, who cares, with warmth and no judgements, don't we all wish we had one? That one person who will just be. 😊 The pizza that you want to eat but did not know you wanted it till you saw it.
How mundane goes on and on when everything else is broken. What a brilliant sneaky part. Life goes on, even when everything is falling apart. And sometimes we need a glimpse of that to remind us that we have to live with the devastation.Credit where it's due. Last part is inspired from J.K. Rowling in Harry Potter and Half Blood Prince, Last Chapter.
"We're with you whatever happens," said Ron. "But, mate, you're going to have to come around my mum and dad's house before we do anything else, even Godric's Hollow."
"Why?"
"Bill and Fleur's wedding, remember?"
Harry looked at him, startled; the idea that anything as normal as a wedding could still exist seemed incredible and yet wonderful.
Different context; different event; but same feelings and same effects and something that I have experienced - keep it normal.
Zoe: She had to talk to her aapi, even if it's going break her. and in between all of the breaking, the little voice is nagging, enough, now get up and get going. isn't this so real, right when you are indulging in all justified self pity when your brain decides to ask you to shut up? 😆
She looked into heart and found something so precious, Asad. Is it a fair trade off, her missing memories to finding her love again? I think she knew it then. 😃
She talked to her Aapi more than the truth that she learned. She wanted to ask her questions. More on it in next chapter. Smart brain like Zoya needs to be used in correct way 😆. Also, once Zoya learns something, she immediately acts. Thanks to this trait of hers, this whole thing wasn't prolonged.
And finally, the bedroom scene. I will say it is the best storytelling I have read from you so far.
