No ya. Me is not bashing Asad . I never bash Asad as such. I see him as an interesting case study.😆...so, don't let the title misguide you.
Honestly, i LOVED how Zoe let off all the steam and horses on Asad in one go.Her aggressor-defender speech to Asad made even the audience realize that just how much she was trying to change herself for Asad. Just so that he can accept her, approve of her and she can fit the brackets he has 'apparently' created for his to-be-wife. From day 1, Zoe's only need after her father has been Asad and his acceptance of her. Not done from a logical and practical point of view - but at the same time, one has to accept, if not understand that Asad is Zoe's weak spot. The only person and power who can bend her and her rules.
All her emotional angst and fury on being berated by Asad again and again, the frustration of not being his ideal so-called 'tehzeeb-e-aafta' lady and how he is still a caveman in his fundamentalist outlook towards women's appearance and lifestyle - all of that came out in a crashing wave. And its fun to see Asad back off once in a while and look like a tongue-tied golden retriever ( that's a dog for those who may not know )- why? Because this is how he has changed , is changing and will change along the way. Someone has to come and tell him that , dude, this sucks and its not done. And in Asad's life, Zoe is that voice of reason. She is trying hard to break his fundamentalist codebook and today was another attempt at the same.
I think the most 'awww' part was when Zoe howled at Asad that she wasn't scared of what Maulvi saahab would think - she was scared of him . She quit the New York skirt and so much because she doesn't want to do anything that upsets him. She wouldn't give a fig about those 9 yards of cloth, but she wears a sari because it keeps him happy. I don't know if Zoe herself has any realization that she moves mountains, bends curves further, breaks the rules, dissolves her own self just to keep Asad afloat. Its strange that you can feel something so powerful for someone and yet not realize it. I told you. Zoe is just as bipolar as Asad.
Asad is changing . Right. But we have to understand that you cannot change his basic personality. Order, discipline , culture, way of life , reputation , prestige are important for him. He can bend the rules for Zoe , as he has been doing since the infamous 'slap' incident but its a slow progression. He needs hard work to be done on him and Zoe is doing it. But that doesn't mean he will start singing 'Badtameez dil maane na , maane na' on seeing his fiancee in a mini -skirt. Acceptance comes with time, tests and trouble.
For the rest, the shot of the day has to be how Asad pushed Tamaatar and Dilshoo apart to take a look at Zoe and the aftermath. Its like - its between me and her - move.Maulvee saahab's expressions were hilarious - poori zindagi meinn aissi tehzeeb-e-aafta mohterma nahiin dekhi hongi.😆
Rashid and Zoe ganging up against Tanveer looks like a CID franchise and its fun. Zoe's looks to Tanveer in the last frame were such daggers that you would advise Tannu to instantly declare Asad as her brother. Zoe hates Tannu. Its true.
Siddiqui house showdown belonged to Shireen. Dumb hai , lekin ek kamaal ka aggressor streak hai and i loved how she unleashed her wrath on Ayaan, Badee Bi, Rashid and Nikhat. Wrong in placement but i liked her attitude. Shireen ke aage toh Ayaan ki bhi nahiin chalee. Red looks pretty on Shireen.
And as i sign off for the day, here is something that my friend told me today:
