It's not a matter of Asad's approval but rather the portrayal of Zoya's character. If the creatives of this show wanted a muslim backdrop they should have the characters practice Islam properly at least the main characters or else what would be the point of the muslim backdrop. Zoya wearing modern clothes is fine but just because she is from the US doesn't mean she would go against her religion and wear things that are not acceptable in Islam. I know a few people have said that it should be her choice to follow the religion but if the show is so focused on them being muslim and we have seen her pray namaz before this means she should not be walking around in a mini skirt in front of non-mahrams.

No I meant that she should have a choice to wear what she wants and be a muslim as well cause I just felt that everyone should have the freedom to choice what they wear...Plus its Zoya's wish...if she wants to follow the religion then she will and if she still wants to wear stuff she wants to wear then she can...its her body...she can do anything with it :)

So basically ur saying that if ur born muslim then u have absolutely no choice over what to wear anymore? 😕

P.S I'm really sorry if I'm sounding a bit offensive here but I really dont think a religion should force someone not to wear something...

No when your born a muslim, it is your choice to follow the religion or not. Once you accept to follow it, you should follow it whole-heartedly. Which means you should abid by the restrictions not because the religion imposes but rather because you understand/accept and agree with the reasons behind it. All religions work the same way and I think it is important that the creatives/production show the proper religious values in Zoya. There are a lot of modern muslim women out there...me being one of them but I do not wear mini skirts in front of other men. Just like that she shouldn't either.

Yeah I get that but its still her choice to do what she wants to do and what ur saying basically is that she has to bring restrictions upon herself in order to pray to god...which is just ...not right..

Yes, but if you are breaking one of the key parts of the religion then you cannot be following the religion properly hence not making her a muslim. I don't think you understand how important it is in Islam that the women cover their bodies. It's fine if she choses to wear jeans, all muslims in America do but to be wearing a mini skirt-that is not very acceptable in Islam. Just like that I think it is the job of the writers to show consistency in her character-her character has been seen to pray and to follow Islam so far, I don't think they should be showing her wearing a mini skirt so casually. It is a matter of consistency of the character and nothing more. Don't get me wrong, you can wear what you want in front of family and husband but Asad is still not her husband.
