Qubool Hai as a show had its roots in its characters- the Khan's-Dilshad, Asad and Najma and at the Siddiqui's house Razia, Gafur, Humeria, Nikhat, Nuzhat, Shireen, Badi Bi. Both these houses had characters which were deeply orthodox and provincial in their mindset (Ayaan to some extent). They were comfortable living in that. Enter Zoya Farooqi and she changes a lot of equations at least in the Khan Household.
Zoya was one character which was spunky, brave, self-respecting, progressing and yet caring, understanding, innocent and rooted. She fights back to injustice and wrongdoings. In her first encounter she gives it back to Mr KHan without any fear. All her initial encounters showed her as a person with high self-esteem and who did not take any insults from anyone. But now all that has been lost, she is tongue tied, submissive and turning into a doormat. She keeps absorbing everything like a sponge and the inflow never stops🤢🤢. The typical bahu of the forerunner of TV soaps, who mercifully have changed themselves and moved to more contemporary.
Asad was shown to be a man of principles, values and respectful of others, someone who uphelds relationships and justice. And yes a smart and sauve businessman. He never raises his voice in front of his mother and regards her highly. But as the show progressed for whatever ridiculous reasons-the Story writers started to ruin the basic characteristics of these actors. Asad starts to say mean things, yells in front of his mother, argues with her against his father, gets him arrested etc and is increasing rude and says cruel words to her like you don't deserve mother, family, misfit, clumsy, unreliable and so on. He had even slapped her!! Difficult to believe since Dilshad comes across as a very sensitive woman who would not rear a child who hits others. A person who underwent pain as child would understand the pain of others more rather than being harsh and rude. The way he dealt with Haseena bi and her brother has turned into a simpleton. He has infact lost his business acumen and turning into a naivet and gullible. He is becoming a trickster's delight😆😆.
Gafur was initially the master mind and one who controlled and manipulated people and events to his advantage has now been relegated to being a puppet in the hands of Razia.
Razia was a partner in crime with Gafur in all his shady past, but now she is the mastermind and puppeteer. She is too is losing out to Badi Bi now.
The only two characters who have shown growth are of Badi Bi and Dilshad. Badi Bi has progressed from a mere silent spectator to a catalyst. She is making Razia react to events created by her. Dilshad too has her own viewpoint and expresses them, and she is a catalyst in making Asad accept his feelings of love.
Shireen, Rashid, Nikhat, Nuzhat, are as is. No change per se. Humeria shows some change and then moves back, lot of elasticity.
Please creatives/story writers/producers/directors, can we have our original characters back? They were what made us watch this show and lead it to the position it has. Dont ruin it.
