One more time... Asad asks Zoya what she wants. This time, suggesting a little more than previously about his own eagerness to not oppose her. But, she backs out again? Are they really emotionally challenged both of them?
There is a saying. Falling in love is a decision. Yes, the sparks and the chemistry aside, for two people to be together, they have to have a willingness to be together. That willingness is truly missing from Asad's side. Zoya has, just by her countenance, and personality, always been the lets get along personality. So, she takes many things in her stride. Asad does too, but his exterior is more, WE ARE NOT MEANT TO BE!
Both have fallen in love, and are questioning themselves. Zoya more than Asad who still wants to force himself to denial... without realizing that
From Zoya's perspective it is more like, the totality of all is not feeling wrong.. I mean, for her the reality is that this is a nakli nikah. She dreams of the real one, but as the nakli one goes along, she does not feel anything bad in it. In fact she wants it and she feels Asad also wants it. She is worried about hurting Najma and Dilshad, because she values them. But, as she goes along in this nakli nikaah, she does not feel as if she is doing something wrong.
She would admit her feelings, but just as Asad she has deep rooted issues. Of abandonment. Its just that her exterior is different than Asad's. She hides behind jokes and shers. Asad behind silent. I am pretty sure, being the more mature and subtle one, Asad could have guessed that she wants this Nikaah also. So his asking, unless you want it also - is a little unnecessary. But he still does, to prod her feelings. And, then sometimes, to hide his own, conveniently moves out without noticing her tears... The bigger question is, can she admit, she wants it? After being told a zillion times by ASad that she is not the right one for him and his family, and that he merely did a service to her by letting her stay in his house, and helped her under obligation to let her stay in this country - etc., can she really say that? Yes, she has signs that Asad means something else but being a girl (and being someone who has gone through this pain with someone for almost four years now) it is not easy to take the first step. I took it, and was rejected with a "I only thought of you as a friend". In her own way, Zoya is right in wanting Asad to openly admit what he wants to do - because he has shown that he often does not mean what he does (though he is just acting) unlike her, who atleast is an open book in that sense. She does what she means and goes any extent for it. She meant to help Mariam, she meant to go to Ayan's engagement, etc. etc. She does not hide her emotions. Unlike Asad, who just backed out like a cool cat after such a romantic night under the influence of Bhang, after Mangalpur (well, here he looked for Zoya's assurance first, so i give him the benefit of doubt) and the airport proposal. He even backed out of the second engagement, which Zoya had warned him was real.
Both Asad and Zoya have issues. What they need at this time?
Today was a significant episode for them... They both were a little more willing on their own (before going to meet Ammi) to continue their charades/love story. Zoya through her dream and then the comment, "nikah ho jaega" and Asad through his comments that he can not cancel the event if Zoya wants that (First time ever!) and then not fighting back on the "nikah ho jaega".
Yes we all were drolling at the romance, but I think today was the first progression in their love story in terms of admitance, and it started from the note that Asad wrote.
One day, eventually these lovers will find themselves... in each other!

So, both are fighting their own demons. In the real world, what would have happened? That which happened to me - I finally gave up on the person I loved the most! :). No matter how it hurt, that was the only choice because the person did not know what they wanted. But here they are lucky, they got Dilshad momma and Najma who are willing to play cupid for them.
