Nice post... I completely agree with you...Asad already knows that he loves Zoya.. now he needs to learn to express his feeling.. while Zoya needs to understand her feelings and accept them too...

Hi Ighosh.

You have made a very valid point. In fact, even I have been wondering about this aspect of Zoya's character.

Zoya, even though, a very tough girl on the exterior, is very vulnerable and insecure on the inside. Her aapi and jiju notwithstanding, she has never had a real home, or a place she can call her own. It's this quest that brought her to India in the first place. Of course, she never found her father, but she did find a family. This family has now become her focal point for existence. I think it's this intense desire to belong to someone, to be accepted unconditionally, that keeps her alive these days. That's why she wants reaffirmation from Asad that he accepts and loves her completely. Even though in her heart she knows, he probably cares for her and now with this engagement, she feels a partial sense of belonging, his words will just put a seal to this desire of hers.

That's why she behaves the way she does. Yes, she needs to back off a little because Asad doesn't work well with pressure. He likes to make his own decisions and not be forced into one (case in point the engagement ring- he didn't want it when Dilshaad wanted him to take it but used it at the airport when no one pushed him to)

Yes, Zoya loves the whole Khan family and would be devastated if separated from them but I agree, she needs to spell out her own feelings for Asad too. Why does she retract back whenever Asad gets too close? I think that will happen with the rose scene today. Just shows that she has a glass wall around her and until she breaks it off, she can't express her own feelings either.

Hope that made sense

Great post

Zoya is taking it as a tease. She does not understand the gravity of situation, whether this leads to marriage or not. Nothing. Because she still has not introspected her feelings. She will get a big lecture from AAK if she continues this.

Asad will never force Zoya to confess her feelings. He is too scared of himself and somewhere he knows her answer will be yes if she thought about it. He is happy to not have her realize, i feel.

I am so excited for today's episode and see how things shape up. How Asad and Zoya react to this marriage thing, especially Zoya.

Zoya has not even thought about marriage yet, she is stuck on the engagement issue now to make Asad accept it and declare he cares for and love her. I want to know after this what? Ok marriage will happen...what will she do after marriage? How will she accept her life as Mrs. Asad Ahmad Khan? Will she be only that? What about her aspirations, dreams, ambitions? She is from NYC, she must have some plans for her future.
I wish and hope the CV's keep all this in mind.

Call me Lana please. 😃
You know to me characterisation is very very important and I go to the depth of these characters to understand where they are coming from and then justify their actions and reactions. That is why I keep harping about character consistency.
I know what you mean about Zoya and I know that already. But she is not from India, she has not been brought up in a typical Indian manner, she is from NYC, educated here in USA and I am sure that is why she is so independent and vocal and has this no-nonsense attitude, which is a big plus for me. Then for her she has to have some aspirations or dreams as well, right? Her insecurity is getting the love of a family, to have a family of her own, ok fine. But do you pressurise someone for that?
Mind you two times she said 'qubool nahi hai' when that situation arose in her life because she didn't want to give in into pressure to get forcefully married to someone. She helped Mariyum out of this situation of forceful marriage then I sincerely hope here in this current situation she will realise not to pressure Asad in to something so important just because she needs to feel loved by him. I want her to question him, to bring that dilemma within him out in the open, to get it out what he feels for her but not push or pressure him into accepting the engagement and then agree to marriage.
I love both Asad and Zoya and they have their strengths and setbacks but I can relate to Asad's stand more, relate mind you, not saying he is right. He has a demon inside which he needs to work with and leave him behind but I can understand why he withdraws from a commitment even when he loves her. But Zoya's POV needs to be put in front of the audience as an introspection from her end. And I hope the CV's do this soon.

Agree.

More than Asad I want to know what Zoya is thinking. I wrote this on bheegi's post yday too although not eloquently as you did.

I want some introspection from Zoyas side. I was a lil confused when she barged into Asad's room and asked (hopefully I think) if he meant it? What was she expecting to hear from Asad? If Asad says Yes he meant it Is she ready to be Mrs.Khan? Atleast Asad acknowledges he's engaged and is struggling with his feelings. Like you said I really hope Asad turn the table on her and asks her aapko kya farak padtha hai?.

He just did that today and we saw the outcome! I know Zoya is also running away from a commitment like Asad is but she wants him to admit but she herself wouldn't. When the tables were turned she backed out.
CV's you better clear Zoya's standpoint. She wants engagement and marriage, right? Its not the question here whether Asad wants or not but what Zoya wants? And even if they are engaged and married, then what? I know slowly they will acknowledge and lots of romantic situations to make them realize their own feelings for each other but i just want them to be true to themselves.
