First things first, Asad is NOT the kind to lie , to cheat , to deceive or to do anything that goes out of his codebook of ethics and morals. He is an honest and transparent man who will never do anything that is unethical or goes against his principles. Yet... he is willing to bend the rules for just one person - Zoe. Two days ago, it was that coin toss and today , it was the declaration to the world that he is going to get engaged to Zoe and bind her in a Nikaah with him.
What triggered that? Having seen today's episode in totality, nowhere does it seem that Asad had 'pre-planned' this proposal or even remotely labeled it as 'Plan B'. It was Dhurandhar B who triggered his action , by being the alarm bell from destiny - " I am going to grab her hand, take her away from front of your eyes, no matter how much she howls or cries. I will haul her on a plane to New York and that will be the end of your and her soulmate story. Now, you have two options here. Do something that you have never done before to keep her in your life or else watch me take her away."
Asad responded. He is standing alone in the frame as he sees Zoe being dragged out of his house legally, lawfully. The camera pans between him and the sight of Zoe's back towards him as she is exiting his life. And then, on an impulse , thinking fast in those nanoseconds, desperate and realizing that he cannot let her walk out of his life like this, Asad produces an oven-fresh lie of the mouth but the most true truth of his heart. He stuns everyone by saying that Zoe is gonna stay here legally and nobody can deport her because she is getting engaged to him - they are going to be man and wife.
Time stops for everyone right there - Zoe, Dilshad, Tamaatar. Bhookhi Chudail Aurat, Dhurandhar ,Dolly. Asad delivers a bouncer that shakes them from top to bottom. Asad , being in control of the situation looks at Zoe's "deer-caught-in-the-headlights" face and slowly nods at her. Yoo Hoo! Its time for what you do best, baby - act and lie!
And there goes Zoe to Asad - flying across the room and straightaway perching on Asad's arms. Holding onto his arm for her dear life.Zoe shows her talent of lying ,acting and what not with her - Hai na jee? Kahiye na jee! Main darr gayi thi ki kahiin aap mujhe inse judaa na kar dein. Asad tries to suppress his What-the-what-the-what-the looks to Zoe at her gregarious shower of Begum waala love on him. He hardly looks at Dhurandhar and Co as he watches Zoe act as though she cannot live without Asad ( its true but ab Jahaanpanah ka kya kiyaa ja sakta hai). It becomes a hilarious charade with Dilshad , Tamaatar participating in the "gupt family" drama.Its funny , very very funny. But its not entirely a laughable matter. The feelings here are real and someday Asad and Zoe are going to remember all this - in misery or in happiness, who knows.
If you look at today's episode in Asad and Zoe's context, it was all about the machinery of destiny - gear by gear , bearing by bearing. Salwaar Kameez initiated the next level in AsYa's equation by informing Dhurandhar and Dolly about Zoe's illegal stay. Dhurandhar made an entry into the Khan mansion as the trigger of destiny. He made it clear that Zoe's stay in India was impossible now. Salwaar Kameez hid the car's keys of him and Dolly. Dhurandhar came back right at the moment when Zoe's so-called chicken pox had been miraculously cured. He dragged Zoe away from Asad's life , to the point where Asad did what destiny had designed. He declared Zoe as his to-be-wife. Target for the current level achieved. Asad and Zoe are getting engaged and they will have to carry it out, or else Dhurandhar's kaayeda plus kaanoon will show Zoe in a New York street , sipping Starbucks and doing a sad facetime with Asad on her i-Phone.
Asad never planned this move with Zoe. It came to his mind like a lightening streak from his future.
For the rest, Zoe was her usual adorable self with the chicken pox drama ( in real life immigration officers would call a complete medical check up but ye drama hai, issliye liberty chalti hai , warnaa drama nahin milne waala ) , her wink to Asad and their eye-to-eye toss while she hid from Dhurandhar and Dolly. BCA's sunken apricot face when Dhurandhar asked her why isn't she joining the AsYa celebration was fun. She looked lovely in pink , though. Amrapali is pretty if i forget what a beep beep BCA is. Dilshad's and Tamaatar's reactions and acting after Asad's declaration were hilarious.
Razia , as usual, played her cards well and sped up the HumAyan engagement. Shireen is completely manipulated and they are the perks of being a birdbrain. Still, remember the intercutting and criss-cross of Shireen declaring HumAyan engagement and Asad declaring the AsYa engagement. These parallels are the trumpets into the future track. Keep guessing.
On the sweeter side of it all, its notable that Zoe leaves Asad's arm after a while but as soon as a disbelieving Dhurandhar threatens them , she latches on to him again for her dear life.Just saying it once again - Asad is Zoe's wonderwall and her shield against the world. The second you will pull her out from under his wing , she will be open to predators. Asad and Zoe repeating " Abb tak 75" together with a glum face was adorable too. Dilshad's expressions were the cutest and they all looked like a happy family after the Sagaai announcement and its only natural that BCA was not a part of that happy family picture.
Still, the hero of the day for me is Dhurandhar Bhatvadekar. He stood out and he truly acted at destiny's trigger who propelled Asad's instant decision to announce Zoe as his future Begum. Dolly is adorable and i want , at least a week with them. Dhurandhar has to confirm how authentic this engagement is.Rakesh Bedi is simply flawless.
The precap is supercute and how. Bored, confused, clueless Asad with a 'maine pyar kyun kiya' look on his face. Excited, hyper, bubbly, cooking-a-love-story-on-the-spot Zoe who is stuck to Asad's arm like a fevicol ad. It seems like they both are playing "Koffee with Karan" with Dhurandhar. Lol. Should be fun.
By the way, Zoe. Your " Main darr gayi thi ki kahiin aap mujhe innse judaa na kar dein." was cute. But soch kar bolnaa chaahiye. Jo aaj mazaak lagta hai,wo kal sacch bhi ho sakta hai. Future is uncertain.
