Guys, Part-4 in a nutshell: Asad-Zoya misunderstanding over the romantic last night, some unforeseen trouble in Zoya's life and Asad having flashback of those intimate moments with Zoya.

Here it goes...

Part-4: Sun rahaa hai naa tu/ Ro rahaa hoon main (You're listening, right? I am crying here..)

Dilshad Constructions office:

Asad had just finished his presentation to the Korean delegation regarding the new site for an upcoming housing estate, and going by their response, he could sense that the deal was pretty much sealed.

"Inshallah, buss yeh deal ab final ho jaye. I can peacefully attend Suhana's nikah ceremony then." He muttered a quick prayer under his breath.

He stood up, adjusted the projector and started again "So, Gentlemen, the idea is to offer quality home at an affordable prize. The most important thing is...".

Beep Beep. Beep Beep. Asad's phone suddenly came alive. "Uh, excuse me". He picked up the phone from table. The screen read '1 message received'. Asad quickly checked the sender's name. 'Zoya'.

"Yeah, off course! Who else could it be? What a perfect timing, Zoya!" He mentally cursed himself and opened the message, and his heart stopped beating for a moment.

The message read "Asad please SAVE ME. HE'S GOING TO KILL ME. PLEASE CALL ME. URGENT."

A blood curdling fear tightly grasped Asad's mind. He suddenly felt out of breath. Inadvertently, his hands reached his collar and loosened the tie.

"Mr.Khan, are you okay?" a senior member from the Korean group enquired. "You are looking pale. Is everything alright?"

"Huh...Oh, yeah...I am absolutely fine. It's just that I have to make an urgent phone call. If you guys can excuse me for a moment!", Asad tried hard to maintain his composure.

"Sure, sure. Go ahead. No problem."

Asad rushed out of the conference room and dialed Zoya's number. He listened to the dial tone with a madly beating heart. On the third ring, a familiar voice answered from the other end.

"Hello, Mr.Khan?"

"Zoya, are you..you okay?" a great sense of relief washed over Asad on hearing her voice.

"Oh, thank God you called. This thing is making my life hell." Asad could sense the relief in her voice, too.

"Which thing? What's the matter? Please tell me fast Zoya, I am losing my mind over here." Asad pleaded.

"This ugly little flying machine...this cockroach. Pata nehi kaise andar aa gaya...and moreover, it's not sitting still at any place and flying from here to there. Kya karu ab iss cockroach ka?" Zoya sounded as if she'd cry at any moment.

"You mean, Miss Farooqui, it's all about a cockroach? A cockroach is going to TAKE YOUR FREAKING LIFE?" Asad almost shouted. His temple started hurting with anger. "Do you have any idea how scared I was after getting your message? Do you know how much important this meeting is for me, for my company? No, you DON'T. Typical Miss Zoya Farooqui. Over reacting for a cockroach."

"What do you mean 'over reacting'?" Zoya got angry too. "You come and hug me one day, go into total denial mode the next day, don't even wait for me to wake up and just leave a note for me saying 'Miss Farooqui, I am going, please call me if you need anything and blah blah blah...now that I need you, you start showing attitude...Allah what's wrong with you?" Zoya paused for breathing, then continued "Please aap mujhe sirf itna bata dijiye ke ghar mein koi Laal Hit-Kaala Hit type pest repellant hai kya? Badi meherbani hogi apki." Zoya finished on a sarcastic note.

"Nehi. Laal-Kaala-Neela-Hara koi Hit nehi hai. But you have your biggest weapon, right? The pepper spray? Filhal ussi se kaam chala lijiye, Ms. Fix-it-all. Use the pepper spray on the cockroach, and if possible, try to use a little brain too. An idle brain is the devil's workshop, you know na?" Asad cut the phone and clutched his forehead.

*Allah, kya karu main iss ladki ka*

The deal was finalized after lunch-break, much to Asad's relief. "This project's really gonna be big", he thought. Just a few paper works were left to be done. Asad was sitting with his PA and dictating the content of the final papers, when his mobile beeped again.

Again '1 new message'. Asad was pretty much sure who the sender is. As expected, 'Message from Zoya'. This time it read "I have accidentally popped 30 sleeping pills. Do you want to know my last wish?"

Asad buried his face in his palm. "Arif, please make the changes in the draft as I told you. I will be right back". He stood up and came to his cabin.

"Hello, Mr.Khan?". Zoya picked up on the first ring this time.

"Miss Farooqui, what kind of joke is this?" Asad's voice was low but powerful.

"Mr.Khan, I know this was a 'ganda' joke, but what to do? Now I have to resort to such nasty story so that we could at least talk to each other, Remember, you owe me an explanation." Zoya sounded exasperated.

"Explanation regarding...what?", Asad knew very well what this was all about.

"Mr.Khan, you are just...impossible. Mujhe na aap se baat hi nehi karni. Don't worry I'll not disturb you again. Just wanted to give you an important information. Today, after 6 pm, the opposition party has called a strike. I don't think you are going to get any cabs to airport. You have not taken your car also. I was just worried...but leave it. Achchai ka to zamana hi nehi raha...so..." Zoya paused dramatically.

"Strike after 6 pm! Now that's some bad news. Anyway, thanks for informing. I guess I have to churn out a few extra bucks for a cab today. By the way, I sealed the Korean deal."

"Congratulations, Mr.Khan. Waise I am not surprised at all. Remember I told you that you're gonna give a rocking presentation...and see that's what happened." Zoya sounded delighted.

*Badi ajeeb ladki hai...ek pal mein gussa, dusre pal mein khushi*

Asad returned to his PA's cabin, where Arif was waiting for him.

"Sir, can we finish the paperwork before 6 o'clock?" He asked his boss hesitantly, then added "Actually aj opposition party ki strike hai, total 'Chakka jam', Sir. All vehicle movement shall be restricted. Petrol prize hike ke khilaaf bandh hai, Sir."

"Yeah okay, Got it. Achcha listen Arif, use the company cars to drop our Korean guests to their hotel. Their safety is very important." Asad said thoughtfully.

"...but, Sir. You said you will be going straight to airport. You can take the company car, Sir. It will be difficult to get a cab..." Asad interrupted Arif with a hand gesture "No, no. Do as I say. I will take a cab."

At 5.30 Asad left office. The road was already deserted; the roadside shops were shut down. His eyes scanned impatiently both sides of the road for a cab. Finally he saw one coming.

"Airport." Asad jumped inside and closed the door with a loud thud.

"Meter ke upar one and half extra lagega, saab." Cab driver was adamant, but Asad was in no mood to argue with him. "Thik hai, chaliye." He sighed.

The taxi picked up speed in an almost empty road. Asad took out his mobile phone and dialed 'Ammi'.

The call connected after third ring. "Hello, Ammi?" Asad asked.

"Hello, Jammy. Main Tannu bol rahi hoon." Tannu's voice on the other side greeted Asad.

"Hello, Tannu. Is Ammi there?"

"No, Jammy. Khala is not here right now. She is with the bride, Suhana Najma is also with her, too."

"Okay. Can you please tell her that I am on my way to airport? My flight is at 7.35. Jetconnect. I will be reaching Hyderabad at around 9.35." Asad said.

"Fine Jammy. I was worried that you may not get a cab, since today there is a 'Chakka jam' in Bhopal." Tannu sounded relieved.

"Yeah, I had to pay extra for a cab, but don't worry, I will reach airport in time. Allah Hafiz."

"Allah Hafiz, Jammy. Have a safe flight."

Asad cut the phone and put it back in his pocket. He leaned backwards and rested his head on the seat. Memories from last night, which he was fighting hard to suppress so far, all came back to him right away.

He closed his eyes and took a deep breath. For the past few days, this inner battle had exhausted him to the core. He didn't know what this strange feeling he was nurturing for Zoya. Neither he could explain this attraction nor could he put a name to it; but he knew it was there. A strong bond, that was pulling him towards her like a moth to a flame.

He remembered last night vividly, with all its delicate, beautiful moments. He remembered her touch on his lips, her soft curves pressing against his body, her beautiful smile, her fingers playing with the raindrops, her hair showering droplets on his face...

Tu hi ye mujhko bata de
Chahun main ya naa
Apne tu dil ka pata de
Chahun main ya naa
Itna bata doon tujhko
Chaahat pe apni mujhko
Yun tto nahi ikhtiyaar
Phir bhi yeh socha dil ne
Ab jo laga hoon milne
Poochhu tujhe ek baar

Tu hi ye mujhko bata de
Chahun main ya naa
Apne tu dil ka pata de
Chahun main ya naa

Aisi kabhi pehle hui naa thi khwaahishein
O.. kisi se bhi milne ki
Naa ki thi koshishein
Uljhan meri suljha de
Chaahun main ya naa
Aankhon aankhon mein jataa de
Chaahun main ya naa

A part of Asad wanted to get down from the cab, run back straight to Zoya and hug her tightly. Asad bit his lips to control his urge. "Miss Zoya Farooqui, you will be the undoing of Asad Ahmed Khan.", Asad smiled to himself.

The Siddiqui House:

Razia was busy in the kitchen when her phone rang. She lowered the flame on the stove and came almost running to her room.

"Hello, Razia bi?" spoke the voice on the other side.

"Billo, I want only good news from you." Razia hissed.

"Good news hi to deni hai, Bi. Asad Ahmed Khan airport ke liye abhi abhi nikal chukka hai. Raasta clear hai. Send someone to keep your 'najayaz' daughter company over the night. Bechari akeli ladki, kya karegi raat bhar?"

"Shut up. Apni jubaan ko lagaam do, Billo. I know what to do with her. You will get your money in time. Now put the phone down and don't call me unless I call you. Understood?" Razia cut the phone and dialed a different number.

"Haan, Raghu. Kaam aj raat ho jana chahiye. Inaam baad mein milega, first you finish the job. Remember, the job has to be perfect. I won't tolerate any mistake this time."

Half an hour lat"er:

Asad was enjoying the evening breeze on his face through the open window of the cab, when his phone rang again.

"Zoya?" He picked up the phone.

"Asad?" Zoya's voice was almost unrecognizable as she spoke with a hoarse whisper. "Asad, please mujhe bacha lijiye. Ghar mein koi hai jo mujhe maarna chahta hai. Somebody's entered the house...please help me'" the line got disconnected.

"Oh no. Not again. Enough is enough, Miss Farooqui. I am not gonna fall for that again." Asad smiled in spite of himself.

*I know you want to talk about last night, but we can talk later, when I come back from Hyderabad.*

After about half an hour, Asad's cab reached airport. The flight time was approaching. Asad collected the boarding pass and stood in the queue for security check in.

"I should call Zoya once. Later I have to switch off the mobile in plane and can make a call only after two hours." Asad thought and took out his phone.

"The number you have dialed is currently switched off", a computer generated message greeted Asad.

"Allah, what an unmindful, irresponsible girl! She must've forgotten to charge her mobile." Asad's brows furrowed in disgust and he dialed the land-line number instead.

Nobody picked up the phone the first time. It kept ringing again and again and finally went dead. Asad was slightly puzzled and dialed the number again. This time someone picked up the phone. Asad didn't make any sound and waited for the other end to respond.

"Hello, Kaun hai? Kisko chahiye? Madam bol rahi hai kya?" an unknown male voice with a gruff tone spoke finally.

Asad's heart got a big jolt. He cut the phone quickly and checked Zoya's last call. His heart sank when he saw the time of last call: 45 minutes ago.

'45 minutes'. The number stared back at him from his mobile screen, mocking him silently. He has wasted 45 precious minutes to respond to Zoya's call! These 45 minutes could cost her...LIFE.

Asad couldn't think anymore. He clutched his head and dropped down to his knees. He could feel an airport full of people staring at him; none of them actually aware of what he had lost. He didn't know what to do, where to go. The heaven seemed to have fallen on him.

*Am I losing my mind?*

A moment later, his common senses kicked back. He wiped his face and stood up on his shaky legs. His jaw-line hardened with a new-found determination. "Zoya, I won't let anything happen to you." He murmured. Then he sprinted towards the airport entrance, running against the clock to save the love of his life.

Mujh ko iraade de
Kasmein de, vaade de
Meri duaaon ke ishaaron ko sahaare de
Dil ko thikaaney de
Naye bahaaney de
Khwaabon ki baarishon ko
Mausam ke paimaane de
Apne karam ki kar ataayein
Kar de idhar bhi tu nigaahein
Sun rahaa hai naa tu
Ro rahaa hoon main
Sun raha hai naa tu
Kyun ro raha hoon main

Give me intentions..
Give me promises, guarantees,
Support the signs of my prayers..
Give shelter to the heart..
Give some new excuses,
Give the peg of weathers
to the rains of dreams..
Bless me with your grace..
Look this way too..

You're listening, right?

I am crying here..

You're listening to me right
Why I am crying here

P.S: Next part- Zoya's blood on Asad's hand 😭 (well, he will take care of her), Was he too late this time...Keep reading.

Please feel free to give your feed back, Guys. They inspire me to write more. All kind of feedbacks are welcome with open arms 🤗
