Simply put Zoya questions his sanity, his faith, she disturbs his very equilirrium( inside as well as outside), she encourages him to live not just exist...she unhinges his control in life...he does not like that feeling of not being in control and that freaks him out hence he retaliates.

can totally relate...I think anyone would try to suppress the attraction if you think that you are attracted to wrong person
Having said that, he saying zoya is misfit in his life is correct but he saying she cannot be a perfect wife for anyone is totally wrong. Who is he to say that!?
