I empathised with him cos Zoya didn't behave like a guest. Zoya was wrong to hide Mariam. She should have told him. But no matter what, it does not give Asad any right to slap anyone... If it was a guy in Zoya's place I'd be equally outraged. It's not about a man hitting a woman, it's about venting in the wrong manner.

Hi! I kinda agree with you that Asad shouldn't have slapped Zoya. And it's not just about a man hitting a woman. But then I go back and think how he doesn't know about what has happened so far after his last conversation with Zoya on the phone. He's still in the dark and he still thinks that it was Zoya who lied. He's at a place where his mom is about to die and she is the only person in his life that matters to him. So if it's about a child's love for his mother may be I would have done what Asad did. Of course now I can't wait to see their moments together once he knows the truth from his mother. :-)
