I'm loving it, too. The dynamics are being built up very interestingly.

Thanks! :D

Yup, he is like the father to her she never had and Asad also treats her like his child. So much for people saying Asad doesn't love his sister😛

@bold: Allah miyaan, what is wrong with the poor clothes?🤣

Clothes make the man ..so probably there r issues with the man and so his clothes too got dragged into it 😆

Oh and yr title to the post ...reminds me of that old hindi flick Purab aur Paschim starring Manoj Kumar n Saira banu ...and in that flick Manoj Kumar's char is kind of conservative in his approach and Saira Banu being the foreign bred actually falls in love with this aspect of his personality along with the other aspects ofcourse

Zoya and Asad has different idology.
It would be interesting to see them together on idological debate.
But it would be interesting if zoya marry asad without before marrying ayan.
If zoya marry asad and if she was ayan ex wife that time.
Than we may not see those things.
Because that time zoya's mindset would be different.
And for me ayan family is more conservative than asad.
so if she marry ayan before than she will allready be known with conservative family value.
so when she will marry asad the conservative family value won't be new thing for her.so less chance of idological debate.
So if we want to see the idological war betwen asad and zoya than we should hope zoya marry only asad.

Okay your topic reminded me of a convo I had with my mom while watching the second episode I was like the things Asad says are something I would argue with like (Purab Paschim ada dialogue) but when he says them I just go keep talking you are right 🤣 but keeping phangiri aside I agree he's conservative and has his principles and morals in place .. it's obvious that everything that he has dealt with in life have made him have a tough exterior and now he's using these rules and values to protect himself and more importantly his loved ones from it all ..
Completely agree about openminded people .. it's not really about having morals or not it's WAY more gray than that it's not black and white .. people just tend to look at the world from different pov's
Zoya .. is totally like us LOL I am so glad they portrayed the NRI character aptly because she isn't a brat like most NRI characters .. she is someone whos independent has values and morals but she also knows how to stick it to the man basically LOL
I have nothing to add about AsYa together cos you said it all (: They are two extremes who can offer each other a LOT .. they can teach other to tone it down in different areas and be better people!
@PS .. I would say Asad is like a dad to Najma since he has helped him mom bring her up and you can tell there's a lot of respect for Asad from sister's side and Asad is just super protective of her like a dad <3

I felt the way he explained things to Nagma made a lot of sense to me. He made his point quite nicely. We shouldn't dress or act or change according to how people want to see us. It should be ones own prerogative. The only part where I raised an eyebrow was the very last sentence "ke main nahin chahta aap aise friends ke saath ghoomain jo aise kapre pehente hon". Thats the only part I disagreed with. What one choses to wear is strictly no one elses business and I completely believe we shouldn't choose friends on the basis of what they wear. But at the same time a person shouldn't change the way they dress just cause everyone else dresses differently.

Fab post...and Fab title...👏
Zoya and Asad are definitely polar opposites.
I don't know if I'd call Asad an orthodox person...quiet and conservative yes...reserved definitely.
His views about women have been shaped by the deep scars his family's abandonment by his father has left on him...so it's only natural for him to be a bit over-protective of his mother and sister. In addition he himself keeps away from any personal relationships so that he doesn't turn around and hurt anyone else
Zoya is at the other extreme...young, loud, fun loving, and free-thinking...But if we look closely...she's free-spitited but not overly rebellious...she has her own set of values and morals...and they are good in their own right.
Mazaa tab aata hai jab in donoo ki takkar hoti hai...😆
I love the below quoted reasoning of yours...

Hence, comes the reason why I'm developing a liking for AsYa as a couple already. They will balance each other out. Zoya will make Asad more open-minded while Asad will put some restraint on her considering she is no longer in New York. I think this transition will be a lovely watch. Who marries who is a bridge I'd like to cross when it comes but ultimately, I expect to see how Zoya will help Asad become less rigid and how Asad will mold Zoya into living in a society.

I agree with this whole-heartedly and it's the same reason why I'm liking this couple as well..😛

From what I have gathered in all the character sketches given to us by various sources, Asad is suppose to be like this. He was always supposed to be this conservative, orthodox kind of guy who has his morals and values in place .
No, I am in no way implying that we open-minded people don't have morals and values but they're different from the ones he has. He looks at the world from a different angle. He thinks women should be protected and that women themselves should take their own precautions.

Zoya, on the other hand, is like most of us here. She's independent, a feminist who doesn't take the male-dominance in a patriarchal society kindly. She wants women to have the freedom to do what they want, go where they like, when they like and wear what they want. She feels that 'society' is no one to tell the fairer sex what to do and how to live. She lives life on her own terms, not the others'.

Regardless of whose outlook we relate to more, I think we all will agree that they're two extremes. Asad needs to understand that women are no longer the ones who look down and walk but walk shoulder-to-shoulder with men. Zoya, on the other hand, is totally right when she says that women should be given the right to make their own decisions but she, too, needs to realise that those decisions will have consequences and the choices should be intelligent and in sync with what is happening around.

P.S. Oh I just had to add this. I know Asad and Najma are suppose to be siblings but that dining table conversation totally reminded me of when I'm trying to convince my father about letting me go out partying at night😛

Love your response - best one I've read so far.

While his clothes do portray a conservative personality, keep in mind he had mentioned in one of his interviews before the show's airing that he will be wearing longs sleeves to cover the tattoos as they don't go with the character he's playing.

Think today's episode hit the nail! Absolutely loved the way they showed the clash between AsYa's characters; on one hand we see Asad being his conservative self demanding his sister to not wear jeans and she has to follow his orders because at the moment he is shown as the most dominant one in his family. He is somewhat a fatherly figure to his sister, due to losing their father at a very young age. This was also hinted when Najma talked about how Asad used to drop her off to school on his shoulders - something we'd expect a father to do. On the other hand, however, Zoya is shown as the flamboyant character at the water stall. She seems really independent and expressive of her opinions which any girl in this generation is able to relate to. She'll be breaking the norms of society I guess, that's where her and Asad will have differing opinions and jung shuru hogi! Haha, looking forward to Monday!

Ya, probably. Asad's suit must have been a Raymond, the complete man🤣

I've heard of Purab aur Paschim though never watched😛
Ya, Asad-Zoya can be on the lines of what you mentioned about Manoj Kumar and Saira Banu (:
