"The pain of the mind is worse than the pain of the body"- Publilius Syrus
Today we saw the execution of this quote through Asad Ahmed Khan. Despite being in pain and his wound being fresh, he detached all the wires on his body and grabbed his ami's hand in a fit of anger fled the hospital room.
"Mere ragon main behta khoon beh hi jaaye toh behtar hoga."
"Mere baap ka saaya mere saar se satra saal pehle uth gaya tha "

One could feel the pain, the anger, the frustration, and pent up feelings that arose in Asad after seeing his father after 17 years through these dialogues. I could definitely see that Asad has gone through a lot with the absence of his father in his life and that is a grudge Asad will never be able to forgive nor forget. His father left their family and accepted another one...not an easy thing to get over. It's another thing that despite that very fact, Asad behaves as a father/elder brother to Ayaan, his step-brother, spoiling him to no end. What could be the reason behind that? Is it cause he doesn't want Ayaan to be deprived of a fatherly figure in his life cause as we could tell from the episodes till now, Ayaan's father isn't impressed with Ayaan's behavior/antics. Or is it cause of his selfless nature that he doesn't blame his step-siblings for the mistake his father committed?
Getting back to the quote, Asad completely ignored the fresh wound on his body since he was being mentally tortured and reminded of the pain his father, Rashid, left upon them. The scene and the execution was brilliant, a huge round of applause to KSG for portraying that scene so effectively and showing us another side, another layer to Asad. Things aren't all happy on his side and his father's presence made all the bad memories of the past haunt him. One thing about the scene I disliked however was the KHNH background score- it could have been done away with. The scene would have been more impactful with just a instrumental. The song took away from the scene in my opinion.
Moving onto the scene at Rashid's house, you can conclude that despite living in the same city, Rashid hasn't made a effort to meet his other family. Shirins mooh-bola bhai has kept him under pressure and under his domination all these years. He said today that their Shirin made a mistake too by falling in love with a married man, and for the sake of her happiness, one can conclude he bribed Rashid to leave Dilshad through monetary and materialistic needs. But did Rashid really need that money? Did he not love Dilshad? How could he have left his family just like that? Did he even divorce Dilshad? In Islam, a man can have upto 4 wives, but you must treat all your wives in the same manner. So if Rashid is still legally married to Dilshad, why is he being unfair. I can already tell Shirin's brother is a religious person, so if he did put pressure on Rashid to leave Dilshad, is he not being a hypocrite towards the very religion he dedicates his life too? Ayaan's dialogue about his father Rashid not having a backbone showed how much he resents his father for leaving a son like Asad.
However, some questions did arise in my mind after the episode...
Did Rashid get married to Shirin and hide his second marriage news from Dilshad? And then when Shirin's bhai found out, he made him take a firm decision? Are things much more complicated and twisted? Cause if there is a 17 year gap, that means Ayaan is 17 and his sisters younger than that, so how is Nikhat trying to get married?
or... Did Rashid have an affair with Shirin and hence was forced to marry her so her izzat isn't ruined?
Why arent the siblings of the two families to meet? How did Ayaan meet Asad and find out he's his step brother?
Lots of scope to this show. So far I'm impressed at the scenes in the Rashid household today. It shows theres a lot of baggage that was left behind and forgotten in the past 17 years, and it was opened up today thanks to Ayaan's little tiff with the goons.
