I don't think it's a useless track Zariyat.
After PDs death, Diwans have no one elderly in their family. Yes, there is Pankhuri's Dadaji, but he lives all the way in Kullu, they can't always ask their daughter-in-law's grandfather for advices and support, can they? Yeah, so they want someone from their own family. Who else than your mother's sister can replace her? MAASI, meaning Maa Jaisi. So definitely they should try to get her forgiveness. And other than that, it is the duty of the children to rectify any mistakes or undone promises by their parents/grandparents after they pass away.
I think the track itself is very very genuine, but the execution is not to the point. They are adding too much not needed drama and 'funny' moments to it, which is kind of spoiling the anxiety of the track and it's importance overall.
