It had been almost 2 weeks since the incident had occurred, still consumed with bitterness and guilt Adi paced in his bed room retracing his foot steps why did she not understand him, why had she tried to convince him not to cancel his wedding, why was he feeling so '' betrayed ? Nothing made sense. PK had been his best friend, she always understood his feelings before so why when he needed her support the most did she not understand, then after that she deserted him. His mind consumed he flopped onto his bed, staring at the ceiling he started to remember

It had been a beautiful Sangeet/mehandi ceremony so far everyone was having a fantastic time, this had been the 1st time in a long while since Adi had seen all his loved ones in the same room without fighting. (This was due to nana making everyone call "a truths" for this one day). Adi tried hard but he could not remember much about decorations or even what Latika was wearing that day what he did remember though was PK.
He recalled how the room went dark, he looked up from where he was sitting to see the spotlight shining on a beautiful young girl who at this point in time had her back to him, she started to sing her voice was soft & sweet to his ears. She slowly turned around (it was PK). As she moved to the music he watched intently noticing how perfect every hip movement, every foot step kept in time with the rhythm of the music. She was wearing a yellow, pink & green sari which on anyone else would have looked over the top but on PK it suited her very well, every time she twirled her sari would flare a little at the bottom. It was almost like she was floating on air .Her long dark silky hair fell softly over her shoulders complementing her beautiful brown eyes which twinkled with joy. Her smile which he had always commented on seemed to be more enticing today.
Unable to take his eyes off her he didn't even notice the music had stopped and Latika who was sitting beside him had started to talk to him.
Latika: Adi ' did you hear me
Adi: (snapping out of his Trans) hum '. Sorry did you say something
Latika: (huffily) doesn't matter
Adi: OK (his eyes skimming through the crowds looking for PK)
Finally he had spotted her standing talking to Nanaji. He tried to catch her attention but when she finally looked his way someone approached him to congratulate him on his forthcoming marriage blocking his vision. He couldn't understand why but for the past few days he felt there was something missing, he was starting to realize how different Latika & him really were, they even still had not agreed on a honeymoon destination.
The sangeet half of the ceremony was over now it was now time for the mehandi. He had been told to keep on the other side of the room with all the other men but he had an urge to see what was happening, from his hiding place the only person he focused on was PK, she was sitting getting her mehandi done, there was that breath taking smile again (he thought) .The lady had just asked her the name she wanted on her hand when she looked up to see
PK: Adi?
Adi smiled and gestured her to come to him. She made her excuses and headed out to the hall where Adi was waiting impatiently😊
PK: Adi you're not supposed to be here what if Avantika aunty saw you
Adi: relax '. PK I just hadn't got chance to talk to you, so I thought I would come & meet you. I have to tell you... You danced really well & you look perfect 😉
PK; (blushing) thank you☺️
After talking to PK for a short while he left and was heading back to his friends when he heard his mum & dad's voices coming from a nearby room. He moved closer eager to listen in (his mum & dad in same room was a rarity)
Avantika: it's decided we will wait till after the wedding to tell Adi
Harish: do as you please Avantika like you always do
Avantika: don't start Harish you are the reason for all this
Harish; that's right you're never wrong are you
Adi (feeling sad) was about to leave when he heard something that stopped him in his tracks
Avantika: After the divorce you can see Adi but remember I will NEVER let you take my son away from me
Adi burst into the room. Both Harish & Avantika froze
Adi: divorce... You & dad (unable to speak in a proper sentence)
Harish: Adi I'm sorry you had to hear this '..I wanted to tell you sooner but...
Avantika (turning to Harish) don't you DARE blame me
Avantika & Harish began arguing almost forgetting Adi was still in room
Adi exploded: ENOUGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!😡
He stormed out of the room with Harish & Avantika running behind him
Adi entered where all had gathered
Adi: CAN I HAVE EVERYONES ATTENTION PLEASE
I am sorry for the inconvenience but this ceremony is over there is not going to be a wedding/ please could everyone leave. All shocked, once the guests left Latika ran up to Adi
Latika: Adi what are you saying this is not funny
Adi: I'm sorry Latika but I can't marry you
Latika: Why are you doing this to me'. Does this have anything to do with PK?
Adi: Latika this has nothing to do with PK, I just can't marry you
Everyone else had joined them by this time. Adi explained to everyone what he had heard. All shocked
Nana: (turning to face Avantika & Harish) is this true?
Both nodded. Avantika then started explaining to everyone what had happened, why they separated, how she had caught Harish cheating. Harish denied it but Avantika wasn't listening. Unable to listen anymore Adi finally spoke
Adi: I don't believe it dad wouldn't do that (obviously upset he ran upstairs to his room where he locked the door behind him).
Avantika: Adi please let me in
Adi: go away
Everyone tried but he kept the door shut.
He was lying on his bed staring up at the ceiling when he heard PK's voice coming from outside his door everyone else had left
PK: Adi (she knocked the door)
He quickly got up off the bed and opened the door; once PK entered the room he shut the door behind her
Adi: can u believe this PK ''. What happened?'''' what went wrong?
He ranted on for at least another 5 mins not letting PK say anything. Finally she spoke
PK: Adi I can't even begin to realise what you are going through right now, I am so sorry''
Adi: I just don't understand everything was going so well, we even got them to dance together
PK: Adi '' Latika is very upset right now, can I call her in
Adi; (turned towards PK )I have just found out that my parents are divorcing and you are talking to me about the marriage. You are supposed to be my best friend PK, so why are you more concerned about Latika than me.
PK: Adi I didn't mean ' I was just trying
Adi: (turning away) this is your fault anyway, if you hadn't tried to bring everyone together then everything would have been fine
PK; Adi I'''
Adi; why couldn't you have left them the way they were'. Not every family can be as perfect as yours PK
PK I'm sorry (she ran out of the room upset that Adi blamed her)
Adi watched her leave wanting to stop her, his hand outstretched (I'm sorry PK) instead he stood there frozen unable to decide what to do, he was sooo confused.
PK ran up to her room fighting back the tears (maybe he was right maybe it was her fault). Nana had seen PK and had followed her to her room , he knocked on the door and entered
Nana; PK are you alright dear?
PK; yes Nanayi I'm fine
Nana; what happened?
PK (breaking down crying) Nanaji I can't stay here anymore, all I do is cause trouble, I have to go back to Kullu😭
Nana; don't be silly PK u had nothing to do with this, it was bound to happen sometime '' what would make you think like this'.. Has Adi said something?
PK; no ' (staring at the floor) I just ''' I can't stay here anymore, I'm sorry.
Meanwhile Adi was in his room pacing back & forward his mind replaying his conversation with PK, why is she more worried about Latika than me (he thought angrily), why did he say it was her fault (his anger subsiding) why am I so upset on her she was only trying to help (more confused than anything) I need to get out of here!!!!
Later that night Adi returned home (drunk) to find PK's dadaji talking to nana in the living room, he tried to greet him by touching his feet stumbling a little,
Adi: what are you doing here Dadaji?
Dada: I'm here to escort PK home
Adi; what do you mean?😲
Nana: Adi '.PK is leaving '. She's going home (adi's heart sank)
Adi; she can't go home '.. I didn't '''.. I didn't mean' where is she?
Nana; she's upstairs packing
Adi went to go upstairs but Nana stopped him
Nana: Adi I think you need to sober up 1st go get some rest she'll be here till tomorrow morning.
Feeling quite light headed Adi complied & headed towards his room
In the morning Adi woke his head pounding. He slowly got up, suddenly he remembered
Adi; PK is leaving, my best friend is leaving.
he got dressed and headed towards the landing, he reached the stairs where he stopped, there was PK saying goodbye to everyone her luggage by her side, why had she not waited for him?, was she angry at him? Huh probably desperate to get back to Kullu to start her new life with Shivam (he started to get angry again) why should she be angry at him? , he should be the one that's angry, she was the one deserting him. He watched as she left, his heart sinking🥺
