Chapter 4

It was almost midnight but still there was no sign of Sid and Jeh...Abhay tried to call them but the call was not going. He sighed and looked at Piya. There she was sitting in the couch crossing her legs, looking at the moon through the window. Her facial expression showed that she was deeply immersed in some thoughts. There was an awkward silence between them ever since Sid and Jeh left. They both tried not to break that as they thought it'll comfort the other person... Now, the silence was getting on Abhay's nerves. He wanted to go to her, talk to her and make her comfortable... Most importantly he want to open up to her and apologize for the ruthless words said by him... He had to do it...Now or never... He slowly found his legs moving and walked towards Piya. After a minute's hesitation, he sat near to her. He coughed so as to bring her back to the world. Piya startled and looked at Abhay. For a minute Abhay's eyes got locked with Piya's baby brown eyes. He could see the tears originating in those eyes... it was speaking volume of pain to him. His heart lurched seeing those eyes in pain. He involuntarily touched Piya's shoulders. Piya broke the trance and wiped her tears... Embarassed, Abhay withdrew hhis hands from her shoulders.

Abhay: "Erm... Piya... I...I want to apologize to you for what i have told... I should have never said like that... I was just being immature and irrational..."

Piya: "No Abhay... It's me who should ask you sorry... you have done nothing... I did cross my limits... So what you did is natural..."

Abhay: "But Piya..."

Piya (interrupting him): "No but buts... I don't like my friends asking me sorry..."

The word FRIEND made Abhay to look at her... he felt his heart become light... All the guilt vanished from his face... He gave Piya a warm smile showing his cute dimples. Piya responded in return by giving the best smile...

Abhay: "so we are friend huh?"

Piya: "Yes... Any doubt?"

Abhay: "Nope... By the way, can i ask something to my friend?"

Abhay asked her seriously... she looked at him, suspicion written all over her face...

Abhay: "Why were you crying Piya before a few minutes?"

This question caught Piya out of the guard... She understood that Abhay has easily deciphered the pain in her eyes... but how? She tried hard to stop the tears from falling down... but how Abhay noticed that... A thousands of questions were running through her brain...

"Piya... I am waiting for an answer..."

Piya decided to deny the fact that she cried... But, as if reading her mind, Abhay said

"You don't have to tell me that you didn't cry... I know what I saw... Even though the tears didn't fall from those eyes, i could see the pain in them... It was not definitely because of some insects gotten into your eyes... It was due to something else... What is bothering you Piya? You called me friend few minutes ago... Don't make me an outsider in the very next moment by not sharing your pain Piya... Please"

All this while Piya was staring at him dumbstruck... she was soo moved by the emotions in his voice that the tears atlast found its way through her eyes... she turned away from him and went near to the window... She looked at the beautiful starry sky

"Abhay... What should I tell you when I myself don't have an idea what's going on with me... i don't know Abhay what's happening to me... I am scared... not because I'll be attacked, but because what will happen to Sid bhai and Jeh bhaiyya if something happens to me... I know they won't be able to bear that... they will break down... (Turned to face Abhay ) I know, they are not my real brothers... but they loved me to the extent that no real brothers would have done that... I am afraid for them... I don't mind dying... in fact all along I knew, I have been constantly watched by all the gangsters... but that doesn't matter to me... everyone have to dye someday so do I... (Trying to fight back the tears flowing down)... If something happens to me, they won't forgive themselves... they will blame themselves for whatever will happen... I don't want to happen that... I just... wanted to have a little more time with my brothers... You know, all I have in this earth is them... I can't claim anyone else as my own... I don't want to leave them soon... I just want to have a normal life with my brothers... Is that too much to ask for Abhay? Why God is punishing me like this? Why???"

She broke down saying this... she left all the tears to come out of her eyes freely... On the oether hand, Abhay was stunned with the pain Piya just shared... He slowly made his way towards her... He touched her shoulders, she looked up... He cupped he face in his hands and said;

"Shush Piya... Enough... Nothing will happen to you... you got that? How can you think that God will be that much cruel? NO... he never was... Everything will be alright... You can have your normal life back PIya... All you have to do is to keep faith in God and your brothers... And about the ALL YOU CAN CLAIM IN THIS EARTH AS YOUR OWN part... You are wrong... You have one more person now... (He stopped for a moment and looked at Piya... Piya was staring at him continuously)... YOU HAVE ME NOW Piya... I am YOURS... You consider me as your friend despite being me rude to you... Thats enough for me Piya... I am forever bond to you... Whenever you feel lonely and scared, don't forget that I'll be always there to help you... You are not alone Piya... So nothing will happen to you..."

He pulled Piya into a warm embrace... she felt contend after hearing Abhay's words... The same was with Abhay... He felt soo happy to have Piya in his life as his most precious friend... He was happier to have Piya in embrace... Her body touching his... Her hand right above his heart... He loved this new feeling...

"Nothing will ever happen to you Pia... Nothing..."

The new rays of sunshine fall to Abhay's face... He slowly stirred in his sleep... he opened his eyes and yawned... he found himself in the couch sitting... he tried to remember the previous night's events... he hugging Piya... Then she stopped crying... She came back to her usual self-the chirpy Piya... both watching Tv overnight and slowly falling asleep in the couch itself... By remembering all these, a small smile came to his lips... He turned to his right side... there she was... sleeping peacefully in his shoulder... He stared at the beautiful sight infront of him... he wanted to saviour that moment... before he could enjoy the sleeping beauty further, a knock on the door jolted him back to reality.. He slowly nudged Piya to wake up... As soon as she woke up, he walked towards the door... To both of their reliefs, it was Sid and Jeh... Sid directly went to Piya

"Piyu... Pack your bags... We are leaving..."

Abhay and Piya looked at each other bewildered...

good to see abhay pia becoming friends. but now where r they leaving to? and will abhay be there with them or not. or is that the meaning of your story title that abhiya will be separated now

Heya...thanks for the pm!!...the update was fab!!...but werz sid jeh n piya headin to n y? Happy dat abhiya are now frndz...vil dis ff have a sad ending or happy ending...d name suggests sad wich is already making me sad so thot of askin...
