Part 8

Everyone was in the hall spending quality time with the family. The doorbell rang and a servant opened the door. A young man entered the Mansion and started looking around.

Sid went to him, "Who are you?"

"Shaurya," the man answered, "Shaurya Chauhan."

As soon as Piya heard that name and voice her world was shaken and her face was full of fear. She turned around to look at the person she wished she would never ever meet. Shaurya spotted her and smirked. Dipannita, Jeh and T also came downstairs and stood at a corner.

"Who do you want to meet Shaurya?" Arnab asked him.

Shaurya ignored him, went over to Piya and grabbed her wrist, "I'm here to take you. Let's go Piya."

"No!" She cried.

"What nonsense are you talking?" Madhu asked him crossly, "What have you got to do with Piya?"

"I don't think it's necessary for me to answer you," he told her disrespectfully.

At this point everyone was stood up and Sid advanced towards Shaurya to stop him but someone had already removed his hand from Piya. Shaurya looked up and found Abhay stood next to Piya.

"How dare you touch Piya?" Abhay asked angrily.

"Leave from here right now," Madhu ordered him.

"I will not leave without her," Shaurya firmly stated.

"Will somebody explain what is happening here?" Chand spoke up, "Piya, do you know this boy?"

Piya was scared and nervously said, "He's an ex-student of my college in Mumbai."

"Is that all you have to say about me?" Shaurya asked her, "I'll tell you all the truth. I and Piya love each other and have been in a strong relationship. She promised she will come back after spending her holidays here but she never did."

Everyone was shocked.

"Just shut up!" Abhay shouted at him.

Madhu moved closer to Piya, "What is he saying?"

"Aunty, it's a lie," she answered, "he ruined many girls' lives at my college and I exposed him so he wants revenge from me."

"What are you saying Piya? We love each other," he moved towards her but Abhay pushed him back.

Madhu put her hand on Piya's shoulder, "We trust you."

"Abhay Siddharth what are you waiting for?" Chand said, "Show him the way outside."

Sid and Abhay moved towards Shaurya pushing him towards the door.

"Wait!" Shaurya shouted, "I have proof of everything."

"You and your proof can just go to hell," Abhay said angrily.

Shaurya rushed to Chand and Haseena and Dipannita also approached them.

"Just give me one chance to prove myself right," he pleaded.

"He won't go easily," Abhay went to attack him but Dipannita stopped him.

"Stop Abhay," she said, "It's only fair if we give him a chance to explain."

Whilst Abhay protested, Madhu consoled Piya and everyone else stood shocked, Shaurya went to his bag and took an envelope and file out. He handed Dipannita the envelope as she was the only one willing to listen to him. She took the contents out of the envelope and her mouth opened in shock. They were photographs of Shaurya and Piya in a compromising position.

"Piya, what is this?" She asked.

Abhay snatched the photos and was stunned. Haseena and Madhu were also taken aback when they saw the photos.

When Piya looked at them, she screamed, "No! These are fake. This is not me."

Abhay came out of his shock, "You all heard, Piya said it's not her. Anyone can make these kind of pictures with the technology today."

"And what about this?" Shaurya waved a file in his face.

Abhay snatched it, "What is it?"

"Piya's medical report from a high reputation hospital in Mumbai," he answered, "it confirms pregnancy. She was pregnant with my child but she aborted it."

Everyone was further shocked. Piya had enough; she walked up to him and slapped him. Haseena pushed the report in her hand and asked her what it was. She looked at the report, found her name on it and realised something.

"Is this not the reason your uncle Praveen Dobriyal had a heart attack and died? He found out his unmarried niece was pregnant," Shaurya said all this looking into Piya's eyes, "Now come on say this report is fake too."

Piya fell silent and this silence was killing Abhay. He, Madhu and Arnab urged her to say it was fake.

"No!" She blurted at once, "It's not fake."

She broke down and started crying remembering her past.

"That means the photos are real too," Dipannita added fuel to fire.

Abhay could not believe his ears. Piya looked at his face, which was full of disappointment. He went off to his room. Sid forced Shaurya to leave.

"I'm going for now," he said to Piya, "but I will come back."

Madhu walked up to Piya, "I may have not given birth to you but you are still my daughter and I know my daughter can never do this. Tell me why did you say the report is not fake and how did Praveen get a heart attack?"

"Madhu is right Piya," Arnab added, "Just tell us the truth, we will believe you."

"Is there anything left to be said now?" Haseena spoke up angrily, "If she is innocent then why is she quiet?"

Haseena was the most hurt because she knew her son was in love with Piya and she had betrayed him.

"It's quite clear now that Piya is wrong," Dipannita intervened, "I think she shouldn't stay here anymore. She could be a bad influence on our children."

"You're right Dipannita," Haseena agreed because she didn't want Piya to stay in front of Abhay's eyes.

"Haseena bhabhi, I'm sure it's a misunderstanding," Arnab said, "Piya is our daughter. How can we abandon her?"

"Arnab if she is Madhu's niece then it doesn't mean we all will overlook this wrongdoing of hers," she snapped at him.

"Bhabhi please," Madhu pleaded through tears and turned to Piya, "Why are you quiet?"

"Those photographs and reports are enough to tell the truth," Dipannita spoke venomously.

"This is my house and I will decide who stays and who doesn't," Haseena shouted.

Madhu looked at her, "Oh it's your house? I stayed here all these years thinking it was our house. You and Chand bhaisaab made all the decisions in this house and we accepted them quietly but today it's about my daughter."

"Aunty, please don't fight," Piya begged Madhu, "It's best if I leave this house."

But Haseena and Madhu continued arguing and digging out past things whilst Dipannita watched them happily. She always wanted chaos in this house and today her dream was coming true.

"Enough!" Chand shouted finally, "Haseena and Madhu this is my house and I have always made the decisions and always will whether you like it or not. Piya was given the full opportunity to explain but she failed to do so. Arnab, she is Madhu's relative so arrange another accommodation for her."

With that Chand left and Haseena followed him. Piya found Sid, Jeh and T giving her disapproving looks and rushed off to her room. She lay on her bed and started crying again.

...

A few hours later

"You don't have to move to the hostel," Arnab said to Piya as she was packing her belongings.

"Piya, at least tell me the truth," Madhu once again urged her.

Piya stopped, "Aunty please don't force me to say anything. Even today you both trusted me and stood by my side. I don't know how to thank you both."

"At least stay the night," Madhu said.

Piya took her packed suitcase and started walking.

Arnab sighed, "I'll drop her."

Abhay sat on his bed having flashbacks of his moments with Piya. He was very hurt and angry because he felt betrayed. Piya hid such a big truth from him. Did she not trust him? Or did she not love him? Even if she had crossed her limits and got pregnant, he wouldn't be so upset if she told him the truth. She would probably never tell him if everything had not come out on its own. She was so selfish, he thought. She had been fooling him with her innocent face, which he had fallen for. He would never forgive her.

Haseena entered his room and sat down, "I knew you would be still awake. Don't think about Piya, she's not worth it."

Abhay looked at her surprised, "How do you know I'm-"

"I know you love her," she said and he looked down, "I am aware of what you are feeling right now but she doesn't deserve your love or hatred. Just forget her as soon as you can."

Abhay kept quiet. It wasn't easy to forget the one you truly loved especially when they gave such a deep wound. He decided to speak to her one last time then he would finish everything between them.

At the hostel

Piya was lying down on her bed and tears were falling down her cheeks. Once again she had lost everything. She had always looked at the positive side of things but this time she had broken completely because she had lost Abhay, the one she loved more than her life. She loved him even more now because he was ready to believe anything she said. She felt so guilty for hurting him but she couldn't tell him the truth. It was her duty to hide the truth for the person who treated her like his own daughter. She was trapped badly because proving Shaurya wrong would bring out the truth. She was right earlier; Abhay deserved someone much better than her, she was just bad luck. She decided to leave Dehradun forever after completing this term and go to some place where her past would never find her. And then she thought about Shaurya. Why was he back? He had taken his revenge then what did he want now?

...

Mount College, next day

"I just don't understand why you are hiding the truth," Misha said to Piya. She had been away on a trip and had just come back in the morning only to find out the incident with Piya. She came to college only to talk to her and had been urging her to speak up in the locker room.

"I can't, I'm helpless," Piya said in response.

Misha started pacing and suddenly thought of something, "Panchi! Yeah she can tell everyone. Give me her number."

"No!" Piya said at once, "No need to talk to her."

Misha grabbed Piya's phone and started looking through the contacts.

"What are you doing?"

"I don't believe this," Misha handed her phone back, "Panchi is your cousin and you don't have her contact."

"I have a class now," saying that Piya left.

As she was heading to her class, T blocked her way.

"Oh poor you Piya, I feel so sorry for you," T said with false sympathy, "All your dreams of trapping Abhay are shattered now."

Piya was surprised that T knew about her and Abhay, "Just leave me alone, T."

"Just shut up you orphan!" T raised her voice, "Did you think Abhay would ever be interested in you? You don't have the face or the body to satisfy him. And you thought you would get him in charity too."

Not wanting to hear anything else, Piya walked away in another direction.

After College, she reached her hostel and found Abhay stood next to his car outside.

"I need to talk to you. Sit in the car," he ordered her as she passed him.

"But Abhay-"

He grasped her wrist and forced her inside his car and drove away. After sometime, he stopped the car at a deserted street and pulled her outside.

"Why did you do this to me?" He asked angrily, "Speak up!"
