chapter 1
PIYA : "From the day I was born, I listen to everything that my dad says. I follow his dreams and play soccer. I am an "A" student and I don't talk to any guys at college. Even though I am smart and almost 21 years old, my dad still thinks talking to a guy will come between my good grades. I know that everything won't be the same when I have a boyfriend, but I will be happier with my life. I do not like playing soccer, even though I play the best in the team, It's not my dream. My dream is to become a basketball player, but I have not even been in a basketball court. I feel like I have been caged, and can not find the keys to escape. I always dream that there will be a prince who will come in my life and change it, but I know that it is impossible and will always stay a dream, because my dad has already planned my whole future. But, I cannot blame him, because I know he is doing this because he loves me and wants only the best for me. My mom always tries to talk to him about this, but he never listens to her or anyone else. I guess it is true when they say, some people can dream, but cannot make their dreams come true!"

Mr. Dobriyal : "Piya, when is your next report card coming?"
Piya : "next week dad"
(Mrs. Dobriyal looks at Mr. Dobriyal like she is tired of her husband's actions and words).

Piya and Misha are walking to college.
Piya :"my best friend is Misha, we are like sisters. We know everything about each other. However, there is only one thing that she does not know. Four years ago, I saw a guy at my college, and I don't know why, I felt like he was made for me... I was about to tell Misha about him, but turned out that she likes the same guy. Before I could tell her, she ran to me and told me that she had fallen in love. I could not tell her that I also like the same guy, so I did not say anything. It has been four years, but what's funny is that neither of us has actually talked to that guy... everyday she talks about him, but never tries to talk to him. I also feel the same way about him, but no one knows about my feelings. So, I try to hide my feelings and hope the best for her."
Misha : (to Piya) "Did u finish your project?"
Piya : "Yeah, it took me six hours, what about you?"
Misha : "I am almost done, but..."
(at the same time, Piya sees Abhay and freezes. Misha does not notice Piya looking at him.)
Misha : "look at him"
(Piya blinks her eyes and looks at Misha)
Piya: "you started again...dreaming" (starts laughing)
Misha: " Just watch, I will marry him one day"
Piya: "ok, lovebird, let's go to class"
(They laugh and go to class. As the girls walk to class... Abhay notices them and starts to look at Piya... )
Abhay : "I love you Piya, I want to talk to you so much, but I always fear you might reject my love...you never give me the chance to talk to you"

Panchi: "Abhay"
(Abhay stops and turns around, annoyed)
Abhay: "what do you want, Panchi?"
Panchi: "you know, the spring dance is coming up, I want to go with you"
Abhay: "Panchi, our relationship is over, remember?"
Panchi: "but I still love you"
Abhay: "I am sorry, I cannot go with you"
(Abhay leaves)
Panchi: "I will get you back one day, I promise" (she says to herself and also leaves mad).
lunch break...
Misha: "omg, i forgot, I have to talk to the teacher, you go ahead, I will meet you outside"
Piya : "oh ok..."
(Misha turns and runs to class...Piya looks at her and walks backwards...At the same time, Abhay comes out of his class and doesn't see Piya...they bump into each other. Her books fall down and both lean down to pick the books up, looking at each other...frozen!)
Piya: "I am sorry, I didn't see you"
Abhay: "It's alright" ( he picks up the books and gives them to her)
(Piya takes the book and turns around to leave)
Abhay: "Hey, you are in the soccer team, right?"
Piya: "yeah"
Abhay: "I've seen you play couple of times, I must say, you are good" (he smiles)
Piya: "thanks" (shy, smiling)
(They keep looking at each other, love in their eyes...Panchi sees the whole thing, and hides to hear their conversation).
Abhay: "will you go to the spring dance with me?" ( out of nowhere)
(Piya looks at him wanting to say yes, but she knows she can't)
Piya: "I am sorry, I can't"
(Piya leaves sad...Abhay looks at her sad, not understanding why she said no. She goes in the girls bathroom and closes her eyes, and starts crying)
Piya: (to herself) "In all these years, you wanted him to ask you out, and when he finally did, u refused"
Abhay: (still standing sad..to himself) "I thought you had feelings for me too"
(Panchi starts walking close to Abhay.)
Panchi: "who was that girl? and what were you talking about?"
Abhay: "Panchi, that's none of your business, and for the last time, leave me alone" ( he says angry and leaves)
(Panchi looks at him angry and goes in the bathroom where Piya went. She opens the door and slaps Piya hard. Piya looks at her confused.)
Panchi: "Leave Abhay alone, he's mine, no one can have him, especially a ***** like you"
(Piya looks at her angry)
Piya: "Look, I will not hit you, that's low, but I will tell you one thing. I did not force Abhay to talk to me. If you are so sure that he loves you, then you should trust him. If you have any problems. you should solve them with him, and if he does love you, then I am sure your problems will be solved".
(Piya leaves looking at her mad. Panchi gives her an attitude as she leaves).
Piya is sitting outside, wondering sad. She has her food in front of her, but not eating...She remembers how she bumped into Abhay. She does not notice how she has her hand in her food...Misha comes and looks at her weird. She waves her fingers in front of Piya's face and Piya blinks her eyes. She looks at Misha, and Misha starts laughing, while looking at Piya's hands. Piya notices her fingers too and starts laughing . As they eat, Abhay passes by their table and Piya sees him. Misha does not notice Abhay or Piya looking at him. Abhay does not look at Piya, even though he knows she's there. He leaves mad and Piya puts her head down sad. He walks to his friends, and starts to look at Piya sad. She sees him looking at her, but pretends that she didnt' see it.

Piya outside, after college...She is sitting under a tree, doing homework. In front of her, there is a basketball court and girls are playing basketball. Next to the basketball court, there is a soccer field. Piya is looking at the basketball court and how they play. She imagines her family, Abhay, Misha, all sitting down, happy, and watching her play basketball in a team. She imagines that Abhay comes and hugs her when she wins the game, and she hugs her parents...all of them happy together...then she opens her eyes and her imagination goes away...)
Piya: "how I wish this was true" (tears in her eyes)
(Abhay says bye to her friends and sees Piya sitting alone, comes close. He notices how she looks at the basketball court and not the soccer field.)
Abhay: "Hi"
(Piya wipes her tears and turns around)
Piya: "Hi"
Abhay: "don't u love this place?"
Piya: "yeah, it's calm"
Abhay:"why don't u want to go to the dance with me?"
Piya: "I told you, I can't"
Abhay: "But why?" ( sad)
Piya: "I just can't, ok?" ( yells...and turns around sad)
Abhay: "Ok, I am sorry" ( he says sad and turns to leave)
Piya: "Wait, I am sorry, I was being rude"
Abhay: (turns around smiling) "It's arlight" ( sitting next to her)
Piya: " I just...why would you want to go to the dance with me, out of all the girls, why me?"
Abhay: (smiling) "why wouldn't I?"
(Piya smiles and looks down shy. They look at each other for a while)
Abhay: "ok, I won't force you to go to the dance with me, but can we at least be friends? Will you be my friend?" (he smiles and they shake hands, smiling).
Abhay: "I noticed you looking at the basketball court, I thought you play soccer"
Piya: (blinks) "I do, I am looking at them, I am"
Abhay: (smiles) "you like basketball, don't you?"
Piya: "What? No, I play soccer"
Abhay: "I know, but you like basketball don't you?"
Piya: "Ok...yes, I like basketball, but I have never played it before"
Abhay: "and why is that?"
Piya: "I play soccer, so there is not point in playing another sport"
Abhay: "Maybe one day we can play basketball together, I am not bad, I can teach you"
Piya: "what time is it?"
Abhay: "oh, it's 4:40, wow, time flies"
Piya: "what?" (shocked and gets up fast)
Piya "Oh my God, college ended at three, and we have been sitting here for almost two hours"
Abhay: "Didn't realize the time went so fast, it felt like five minutes"
Piya: "my dad is going to kill me" (worried)
