I had told abhay everything. I told him that I love him, but he, just wanted me to pack my bags and get out of this house. He said he didn't want to see my face or talk to me anymore. How dare he! Doesn't he still get how much I love him, how much I want him. If it wasn't for that idiot, he would've been mine by now. I cursed her and packed my bags when someone knocked the door. I opened it and saw Kev standing there.
"What now?" I asked irritated.
"Look tanu. You have no right to be irritated now. It should be us. You tried to spoil my brother's life. Know that you are never gonna be forgiven for that" he said and I got more irritated.
"Is this what you came for?" I shouted at him.
"Shut up. You raise your nasty voice again, you'll experience a tight slap from me and don't think I won't. Am not abhay to leave you just like that" he shouted at me and I stared at him silently. "Look, leave after my parents are back from church. I don't want them to know what you did. Understand?" he shouted again and I nodded. He closed the door hard on my face himself and I walked back to the bed. I saw the house I lived in through the window and wanted to go back to the days when we all played together.
I didn't go out of the room after that and just sat doing nothing. I didn't even cry. I was so angry, felt that I failed and didn't want to compromise.
"Come down for lunch honey. You are locked up here all day" aunt haseena said coming into the room with her usual smile.
"No. Just feeling tired" I said and got up to go with her. Everybody in the kitchen were staring at me and abhay wasn't there. I took my seat and Kiran served me.
"What's abhay still doing up there. Go call him piya" aunt haseena said to her and she nodded, then gave me cold stare and walked out. Everybody took their seat and waited for abhay and piya to join them. I heard them coming and turned my head to look at him. abhay was smiling at her and his smile faded as he looked at me.
"What is she still doing here?" he asked angrily.
"What?" his mom asked him and he looked at her.
"No mom. tanu said she had an urgent work and need to go. That's why abhay is asking, isn't it abhay?" Kiran asked and he nodded taking his seat quietly.
"Now are you not going for that urgent work of yours?" uncle chand asked looking at me.
"No uncle, they got somebody else to do it since I didn't wanna go without telling you both" I said smiling at him. I looked at abhay and his head was bent down.
I stayed there for sometime after lunch and nobody would talk to me except aunt haseena and uncle chand. I decided that it was time to leave and got up to my room.
"Where are you going dear?" aunt haseena asked me.
"Maybe she's feeling sleepy after the heavy lunch" uncle said smiling at her.
"Am leaving from here. I've already packed my bags. It's already late" I said to them and all the others looked up at me except abhay.
"You said your work is done by someone. Stay till evening. You can go with abhay and piya" aunty said and abhay's head shot up. But he didn't say anything and just stared at me. Finally in the evening, I went with abhay and piya. The entire journey back was so silent. They both didn't even talk to each other. I would've been happy if only the situation was different.
"Take your things and get yourself out immediately" abhay shouted at me as soon as we entered his apartment and walked in without a second look. piya just followed him without a word. I packed everything from there and called a cab to go to one of my friend's place. I walked to the kitchen and saw them both on the love seat. She was sitting and abhay was stretched out with his head on her lap, eyes closed.
"abhay" I called him and he looked at me. He walked into his room then, without looking at me. Tears stung my eyes as I was standing there. piya came to stand in front of me.
"I hope you meet someone as good as abhay. Forget everything and lead a good life tanu" she said and I got angry at her. I was in such a state all because of her and how dare she comes to advice me.
"That's none of your business" I shouted at her clenching my teeth.
"piya" abhay called her from their room and she went off. I then took all my things and walked out.

piya was thereby my side when I felt very much guilty for not believing her. I thought tanu to be my true friend, but I was more than disappointed, moreover irritated to know that she looked at me differently, even after I was married to someone I loved the most. I decided never to look at her face again.
"abhay, aren't you not coming down for lunch?" piya asked as she entered our room.
"Am not hungry" I said lying on the bed.
"I know why" she said closing the door and walked to the bed. "Baby, please. Everybody is waiting for you" she said sitting near me on the edge of the bed. "Get up honey" she said trying to lift me up. I smiled at her placing my hand at the back of my head. "If you don't come with me now, I'll make sure you are never gonna eat lunch in your entire life" she said trying to pull me out of the bed.
"Yeah! How?" I asked grinning wide at her funny efforts.
"Like this" she said and started ticking me and I got up before I would fall off the bed.
The entire way piya was playing with me and as soon as I entered the kitchen I saw tanu still sitting there. I got mad at the sight of her.
"What is she still doing here?" I asked angrily.
"What?" my mom asked me looking puzzled and I looked at her.
"No mom. tanu said she had an urgent work and need to go. That's why abhay is asking, isn't it abhay?" Kiran asked me and I nodded understanding that my parents aren't to know what happened with her. I sat quietly and piya sat near me. I saw my dad talking to tanu and didn't take interest to know what.
"Why isn't Juli here?" I asked since she said she would come.
"Josh couldn't make it today and she didn't wanna come leaving him there" Kev said from opposite me.
I got mad again when my mom insisted tanu to stay back and go with me and piya. On the way, I didn't talk and piya was quiet too. As soon as we entered our apartment, I asked tanu to pack her things and get out and walked to the kitchen.
"Don't be this angry abhay. You look ugly" piya said with a funny expression on her face which made me smile. "Ya. This is my abhay" she said and kissed me. I sat on the love seat while she brewed coffee for us. We both drank it in silence and I was thinking about the first time I had this coffee and smiled.
"What are you smiling at?" piya asked coming my side looking outside the window. I caught her and made her sit on the love seat with me and laid my head on her lap.
"It feels so good to be here" I said closing my eyes and she started to shake her legs that made my head wobble. "Cherry, don't do that or my brain will collapse" I said smiling and she still did it. I let out an irritating sound and she stopped.
"abhay" I heard tanu's voice and opened my eyes. I now hated looking at her and walked into my room head down. I sat on the bed and heard piya talking to her. Why was she talking to her. I didn't like that.
"That's none of your business" I heard tanu shouting at my wife. I got mad at piya now.
"piya" I shouted from inside and she came in after a few seconds. I stared at her and she averted her gaze. I heard the front door lock and went to check if she was out. I breathed a sigh of relief and went to piya. "Why the hell were you talking to her?" I shouted at her.
"No abhay. I just asked her to forget what happened.." she said and I cut her.
"She forgets it or not, it's really none of our business hereafter" I shouted again and she nodded quietly.
Everything was back to normal in the days that followed. Work went good and being at home was like heaven. We both would go out for dinners, do some shopping and I sometimes hated when she took so long to choose a dress. If asked she would just smiling saying it's a girl thing. we even went to her parents home one weekend and it was good too. sid and misha were expecting their baby anytime now. We both went shopping gifts for the baby one evening. piya was looking at everything like she was adoring it.
"If you keep on looking like this, they'll charge you for it then" I whispered to her.
"Everything here looks beautiful abhay" she said and took a pink sock turning it in her hands. "This sock is so cute" she said placing it in the trolley. We finished purchasing the gifts and headed home.
"What did you buy for this baby?" I asked as we placed the bags on the couch.
"This is a very big baby and knows what it wants" she said going into the room to change.
"Do you know what it wants now?" I asked following her and leaned on the door frame smiling mischievously.
"Momma knows" she said coming closer. "I need to change now abhay" she said smiling at me.
"Ok. Do it. Am not stopping you" I said looking at her cheeks that turned my favorite red. "Or I'll change it for you" I said moving closer and she started walking back. She hit the wall and tried to escape. But I caught her and pinned to the wall. I leaned closer and she closed her eyes. Her lips were parted a little and she gulped. her chest rose and fell and I chuckled. She opened her eyes slightly frowning. "When are you gonna get used to my closeness? Every time it's like I can hear your heart beating fast" I asked seductively slightly laughing.
"Every time is like the first time abhay" she said placing her hands around my neck and pulled me closer. I leaned closer again and was about to kiss when the phone rang.
"Damn the person whose calling now" I cursed and she let out a light laugh. "Don't feel free. You are caught up with me for a lifetime" I said pulling out the phone from my pocket. It was from my boss.

It was a very big relief for me after tanu was gone. Nobody talked about her and moreover there wasn't any need for it. abhay and I spent enough time with each other and it turned out to be like the perfect life I always imagined. Sometimes we both were so much caught up by work but would always find time to catch up with each other. We both went to my parent's home one weekend. Aman was finishing university this year and he said he wanted to work abroad. my mom was a bit upset about that since she didn't want her son to go far. Vini was there with her boyfriend Roy and she was introducing him to everyone. I saw abhay smiling at me that time and knew he too was remembering the day we introduced each other to our families. It was another happy occasion since my brother and his wife Jeni were expecting another baby. Even misha was expecting her baby very soon. The doctors had said that it was a girl and they were picking out names for her.
One day after abhay and I went shopping for misha's girl, he became naughty and pinned me to the wall and tried to kiss me. I had known him for almost three years now and still my heartbeat would raise whenever he was near to kiss me like this. He teased me about that and when we were about to kiss his phone buzzed. He cursed under his breadth and I chuckled.
"Hello" he said into it and then went out of the room. I changed my clothes and went to order pizza for dinner since I was tired to prepare myself. "Please. We'll talk about everything in detail tomorrow" I heard abhay say into the phone. He came into the kitchen after sometime and sat on the counter pulling me between his legs and locked it.
"Where were we?" he asked placing a loose strand behind my ear.
"At the kids' store" I said teasing him and circled my arms around his neck as he pulled me closer.
"I know where we were" he said and caught my head in his hands and kissed me hard. It was a long kiss and was breathtaking, yet we didn't part. The door bell rang interrupting us.
"Shit!" abhay said again and released his hold from me.
It was the pizza and I paid getting it from the delivery boy. We both sat on the counter to eat.
"Sweetheart, there is something I would like to tell you" abhay said looking at me and I nodded taking a piece to eat. "Is it ok for you if I go back to Singapore for two weeks?" he asked and took a bite of his pizza.
"Why all of a sudden?" I asked confused.
"They need me there it seems. Some urgent work. Just two weeks baby. Then I'll be back" he said, but I didn't want him to go.
"It's your wish abhay. It's up to you" I said smiling at him and he put his left hand on my shoulder.
"You don't want me to go, right?" he asked smiling back.
"Honestly yes. But it's your work. If you have to go, then I am not stopping you" I said and he kissed me lightly on my lips.
"I love you. I just wanted to know if you were ok with it. Say no and am not leaving" he said taking another bite.
"So abhay. I guess I can survive for two weeks" I said and got down the counter to wash my hands.
The next day abhay called me up when I was at work.
"Come home soon. I need you" he said sounding urgent.
"Baby, are you hurt?" I asked worried.
"No. Am totally fine. But please just come home" he said and I understood that he was serious.
"Ok. I'll be there asap" I said and hung up. I went to my boss and requested him give me the day off and fortunately I got it. I went home as fast as I could. The door was open and I entered calling abhay. The living room looked messy and there were things everywhere. I was afraid if we were robbed.
"abhay" I called loud enough for him to hear.
"In here" I heard his muffled voice and locked the door before heading towards him. I entered our room and everything was scattered here and there. abhay was crouched in front of the wardrobe and pulled out the clothes from it.
"What the hell is this!" I shouted and he looked up fast knocking his head. "abhay" I said and went to massage his head. "What have you done to our room abhay?" I asked him after sometime clearly angry.
"Baby am sorry. Am searching for my pen-drive" he said looking at the mess.
"Searching for your pen-drive doesn't mean you have to turn the house upside down" I shouted at him.
"I said am sorry" he shouted back. "Now will you help me look for it? It's important" he said and turned to resume his search. I threw my bag on the mess in anger and started to search. I searched the places where he used to keep and it was there. I gave it to him giving a clod stare and he smiled sheepishly.
"Now who'll clean this mess?" I asked pointing to the thrown clothes.
"I-I'll do it. Just give me an hour, ok. I'll be back. Promise" he said and kissed me before running out of the door in his hurry. I sighed and started arranging everything in our living room. It took me an hour to straighten it and I called abhay. He didn't pick up and I got angry looking at the mess he made in our room. I started to take the clothes from the floor and folded it. I arranged everything neatly and straightened it. The sun was setting now and abhay was not home still. I fell on the bed exhausted from the work looking at the setting sun. The door bell rang and I opened it. abhay was standing there with a huge smile plastered to his face. I stared at him and walked into our room and sat on the bed.
"Cherry, this is for you" he said handing me a rose bouquet. I turned my head to my right and he moved in front of me still smiling. I turned to my left and he was there too. I got up and he caught me and pulled me to the bed climbing on top of me.
"What's this cherry? It's not fair" he said caressing my face with the roses.
"Get off me" I said struggling under him and he moved to my side.
"Am sorry, am late. Maybe I can pull out everything now and arrange it" he said still grinning like a kid.
"You dare not do it" I said trying to get up but he still didn't allow me. I stared at him and he handed me the roses making funny faces. "Alright, be a jerk" I said taking it from him.
I was placing the roses in a vase when abhay circled his arms around my waist from behind.
"Hey, still mad?" he asked kissing the top of my shoulder.
"Nope" I said arranging the flowers.
"Cherry am leaving tomorrow" he said loosening his grip on my waist and I turned my head to look properly at him. "Two weeks in Singapore" he said and a fear got hold of my heart from no where. "You ok?" he asked with a concerned look and I nodded. He handed me some water and I drank it.
"Tomorrow, when?" I asked.
"Afternoon in 2.45 flight" he said and hugged me.
"Take me with you abhay" I said on the verge of tears.
"If I can, won't I sweetheart?" he asked me and I nodded. "I'll be in sea all those days. You won't be allowed to be with me. It's better to stay here, ok" he said kissing my forehead and I nodded hugging him tight. "piya, I don't wanna spend a crying night with you" he said again pulling me to look at him and I just smiled wiping my tears.
He carried me to bed and he started to kiss me passionately.
"If you are traveling, you need to take rest abhay. stop kissing me and sleep" I said pushing him away.
"I can sleep in the flight" he said resuming his kisses.
"abhay.. I love you" I said kissing him back.
"Then stay awake with me tonight" he said and leaned to kiss again.
We together and it would always be remembered by both of us. At the end of it, I was resting on his shoulders and he was stroking my hair.
"I'll miss you" I said hugging him tight.
"Me too baby. Just two weeks feels like forever" he said kissing my forehead.
The next morning I woke up and showered. All the while I had a strange feeling that something was gonna be wrong. I woke up abhay and helped him pack his things. He had called a cab to take him to the airport.
"Bye. Take care" he said caressing my cheeks and I wanted to tell him that I felt something was wrong, but didn't since he would worry.
"I love you abhay. Take care. Call me, will you?" I asked choked to the throat.
"I sure will cherry. I love you" he said kissing me deeply. I went down to the cab to bid him goodbye and stood there till he was out of sight, in company of the strange feeling.
