Kaheela!
You always rock with your posts! You know I thought the same exact thing when watching the show on youtube.......I was reading all these comments like "Ekta destroyed the character of Edward and blah blah blah." I also, read a comment in which someone pointed out that when Kabir pushes Abhay away on Pia's birthday........Abhay's right hand is shown to start bleeding but, when Abhay is shown to have mysteriously cured his wound, it is shown to be his left hand and not his right hand" I was like Oh My Almighty God! I mean who in the world watches a show with so much observation and details to which hand the actor is using. To be very honest, I did NOT notice that at all and neither did I notice it when I rewinded and saw the scenes again and I don't know how in the world this person noticed something so abstractly.
I mean dude, just watch the show for entertainment, don't go in depths to watch and point out its every detail to criticize it. It's just a show for God's sake its not like you are going to give an exam on it! If it irritates you and you can't stand it...........simple don't watch it why are you wasting your time watching it and then getting irritated. I mean it just doesn't make any sense!?
I had an difference in opinion with my cuzin too over the show as she stated that Abhay's acting isn't very convincing as he is usually expressionless. I don't agree with this becuz, I think from the likes of it Abhay is supposed to be a guy who is EMOTIONLESS who has no love in his heart and most of all we shouldn't forget that he is not a human being. So, obviously if you are going to play a man that is cold, emotionless, and aloof to love then he will obviously be shown to be expressionless and arrogant. I mean what do you expect him to be smiling all the time?!
Like you said, no one has seen vampires in real life (at least I hope not! 😆) Vampires is a myth that originated in Europe due to certain mysterious village happenings and folktales that people at the time couldn't explain. So, everyone has their own take on vampires on how they should act or behave. As a child, I always found vampires to be very scary subject and whenever someone said the word, "vampire.' An image of a blood-seeking ghost with fangs wide open would come to my mind. And after reading and watching Twilight and Vampire Diaries, my perception of vampires changed as for some reason when I heard the word vampire, "the image of Edward came to mind." And vampires no longer represented a scary topic but, it was associated with true love to many girls and the thought of how Bella found her one and only true love with the perfect guy.
You see we don't know how vampires are but, certain writers' perception changes our opinion about them as well. Ekta has a different outlook to how a vampire should act/talk, etc. To be honest, from what I have read from the old vampire folktales, I would expect a vampire to act cold, emotionless, aloof, like Abhay becuz, I just can't visualized a creature who lives through the blood of others by sucking the life out of them can be portrayed like a normal guy, loving, caring, etc. And I know when he is in love, his character will change as well.
Also, I think the biggest attraction that can make any creature once detestful look very attractful is love. We all are drawn to idea of true love and finding that one perfect person who loves you immensely. So, when we hears any stories of love, we tend to find anything related to love extremely appealing. Like in the case of vampires who were once considered to be loathful, horrific creatures are today looked upon with positiveness, curiousity, and admiration due to the influence of Twilight and Vampire Diaries.
If tomorrow someone were to write a Romeo-Juliet type of love story on spiders then we will also have masses of people admiring spiders becuz, of the reminder of that love story! 😆
And the director and the actors have highly emphasized in many of their interviews that this show is NOT twilight and nor is it a remake of it. So, I don't understand if they are saying that its NOT Twilight then why would you want the characters to be exactly like Twilight??? I know they have taken certain ideas and sequences from Twilight, Vampire Diaries, Fallen but, it doesn't mean that they're making a remake of those shows they just took ideas from those shows and formed their own different show.
And also, I read an interview on Vivian (I don't know if its an old one or recent one) where he stated that he is not playing an vampire in this show. So, we still need to give the show sometime to understand its storyline as it unfolds and then decide instead of already making comparisons already.
