We will talk about a stereotype for most punjabis...

If you are punjabi, everyone assumes you are automatically allowed to drink alcohol....

What are your views on this?

Well i am punjabi and i am a proud punjabi!!! noo itz totally wrongggg !! drinking has nuthin to do wid punjabis!! drinking alcohol is not allowed in muslims and i know many muslim punjabis who dont drink at all for example
in Lahore ( pakistan) Lahore is a capital of punjab! any alcohol is forbidden der since 1947.

Some people think being PUnjabi is a religion and PUNJAB is a state of punjabis only in INIDA !! but datz wrong !! punjab is a REGION not RELIGION devided between pakistan and india !!

pakistan has more punjabis then india !! and more muslims are punjabis then sikhs !!

So being punjabi has nothing to do with drinking alcohol or somthing like that its just that for SIKHS its quite normal but for muslims itz not allowed at all.
Its a huge misunderstanding between people that IF u r punjabi then u have to be SIKH !!
A Punjabi can be a MUSLIM, HINDU , SIKH , CATH if he was born in PUNJAB REGION.

once again PUNJAB is a REGION not RELIGION.

a simple example is

umm like in India Hindus , Muslims and Christians live together they were born in india and they all call them selves INDIANS they are indians

Like Shahrukh khan is muslim but he is indian Hritik Roshan is Hindu but he is indian .

this guy is Pakistani and was born in Holland but his dad was born in Lahore In pakistani punjab!! he speaks as good punjabi as indian punjabi he calls himself punjabi.

and i used to drink alcohol wid friends but i was not allowed !!! i dun drink it nymore 😛

SOo you mean.that..they havee more Punjabii (Sikh) ppl in pakistan??BUt the the whole PUnjab(India) is full of us( Sikh Punjabi's)..

Punjab is much older then SIKHISM and ISLAM
Hindus used to rule there first then came islam.
and then in 1539 GURU NANAK SAHIB the founder of sikhism was born in NANKANA SAHIB ( NOW PAKISTAN ) . One of the most sikh holy places are in pakistan !!

Oh really ji? Drinking is stereotyped for Punjabis?? I thought the stereotype for Punjabis are oye tu Punjabi aa te tu sardar aa. I get so annoyed with this ji b/c it's meant in a way ke sardar jokes, and portrayed ke they are stupid. It just makes me very gussa ji.

Koenigbobo ji I agree with Everything you say except the top part😊 It is very much true there are more Punjabis in Pakistan than India and Punjabi is NOT a religion infact it is a REGION BUTTTTTT it is NOT normal for sikhs to drink alcohol😊 See this is the very stereotype Ripi has pointed out😆 Even though it is forbidden for Sikhs to consume alcohol many people "assume" it is quite normal for them to consume it

Drinking alcohol is infact a sin for Sikhs but I suppose there aren't many people who follow all the teachings of sikhism just the way there are many muslims who consume alcohol although they are forbidden from drinking it😛
