Chapter 6
He was awoken by a soft knock on the door. He got up gently as not to wake her.
"Yes?" he said form still behind the closed door.
"Yash-bhayia, G3-madam told me to call you. Supper will be done in 10 minutes."
""Ok. Thank you Ramdulare."
He went to have a shower and went for dinner while she was still fast asleep. He didn't want to wake her. After the shock of potentially losing the baby and what it lead to, he was sure she was very tired. He made excuses for her with their parents. Pari and Prateek were still on honeymoon. He also asked Naina to prepare a plate for her to take to her later.
She woke up feeling well rested. She stretched herself out. The sheet fell off her and she realised she was naked. The memory of what had transpired earlier came flooding back and she was totally mortified and highly aroused again. She was truly shameless. How could she do that? AGAIN!!! What must he think of her? Always throwing herself at him when he didn't want her. Well he clearly did but he was always angry and accusatory afterwards. She was not in the mood for that. She couldn't deal with that right now. She hugged her tummy. This was the only thing that kept her going. Her daughter. Her precious angel. She remembered his words "our angel". What was she to make of that? Was he accepting her as his and was he fine with the gender of the baby? She knew in their society sons were valued greater than daughters. She was the product of a family like that. She was so scared to hope and she didn't want her baby to be hurt and feel the rejection she felt. It was all so confusing. She got out of bed and went to the shower. She knew the first hurdle would be to face him again and see his reaction. She was psyching herself up to go on the defensive again. She didn't feel that she had the strength right now, but she could not appear weak in front of him either.
When she came out of the bathroom he was back in the bedroom. She looked at him, trying to ascertain what his mood was.
"I have asked Naina to bring your food here."
"That wasn't necessary."
"You must be hungry. When last did you eat?"
She shrugged.
"I had a mid-morning snack before I got busy in the nursery."
"Speaking of which. You are not allowed to work in the nursery by yourself and you are certainly not allowed on any ladders."
"You can't dictate what I can and cannot do."
"I can. You asked for a break from work to rest. Not to work somewhere else and putting yourself and the baby in danger. Why not get an interior designer to do it for you."
"No"
"Why not."
"Because"
"Because what?"
"Because I want to do it."
"Fine then."
"Fine then, what?"
"I will take off some time too and help you."
"No."
"Yes."
"No"
"I said yes. It's either that or an interior decorator." he was getting annoyed with this conversation but he was not about to let her win this argument.
"Bully" she said under her breath.
"Excuse me. Did you say something?"
"I thought you said my food was going to be brought here." she said.
"Do you want me to go check on Naina?"
"No, I will"
Just as she was about to, Naina knocked on the door and brought her dinner. She was actually starving. She had missed lunch beside the amorous activities that she indulged in. That was clearly the elephant in the room. But as long as he wasn't bringing up the subject neither would she. She ate with gusto and devoured every morsel.
"Feel better now?" he said when she was done.
She shook her head.
"You want more?" he asked very surprised.
She looked at him angrily.
"Why can't I have more? Are you implying something?"
"No, it was a simple question. I wasn't insinuating anything. Would you like me to get you more?"
"I don't want more food. I want chocolate."
"Do we have chocolate?"
"Ma bought me some yesterday but I ate it all." she looked so sad when she said it.
"That's a pity then. He said. Excuse me." he left the room.
She looked up shocked. Any other husband would have offered to go and get her chocolate. But what was she thinking. He was not like any other husband. So she decided to call the honeymooners to see what they were up to. She had a good long chat with them and then got into bed again and got out her laptop for more dcor ideas.
He came back a half an hour later and just stood next to the bed. She looked at him quizzically.
"I didn't know which one you would prefer."
She still looked at him puzzled.
He gave her a bag that he was holding behind her back.
"What is this?" she asked.
"Look"
"Chocolate!!! But so many!"
"As I said, Ididn't know what you would prefer."
She scratched in the bag.
"I don't like any of them." she sighed. Ma always knows what to get me. Sorry, you wasted your time and money.
He felt disappointed. But he should have asked before he just went out to get the chocolates.
"No problem. Tell me what it is and I will go and get it for you."
She started to laugh.
"Don't be ridiculous. This is my favourite." She held up a chocolate. "And the others are pretty good too. Thank you. I really appreciate it."
She started eating the chocolate just as eagerly as she had her dinner. She was nearly done when she looked at him.
"Sorry, id didn't event offer you any."
"No, it's yours."
"No, you must have some. You went through all the trouble."
"Fine" he took the piece she had in her hand and ate that.
"Mmm. delicious. I'm not really into sweets but I like this."
She looked at him smiling. It has been so long that she had smiled at him. They were either fighting, making love or walking away from each other.
"Beautiful" he said as he was staring at her devouring yet another chocolate happily.
"What?"
"Nothing. I just think I might be getting a liking to chocolate."
She gave him another chocolate, smiling.
"No, he pulled her closer and devoured her mouth as eagerly as she had devoured the chocolate."
"I was right. I like it a whole lot." he said as he finally broke the kiss.
"Yash" she said breathlessly.
"Hmm?" as he was sucking on her earlobe.
"We shouldn't."
"Why, we did earlier."
"It's was my crazy hormones. I'm sorry."
"I'm not and you said that the baby would be fine."
"Yes, the baby will be fine" she said. Her body betrayed her. He heart beat erratically.
"But we can't" she whispered.
"Don't you want to?"
"No" she groaned.
"Then why are your hands under my shirt?"
"Oh" she said embarrassed. She wasn't even aware that her hands were on him and she tried to remove them but he held them there.
"No, I like them there." he kissed her again and the chocolates were forgotten in favour of an even more pleasurable desert.
Their relationship was still a mystery to both of them. She started to work half day. At the office they had a good working relationship. They worked together on the nursery. He was quite insightful and creative. They went shopping together for furniture and accessories. He painted the walls and she did a mural of a white tree with pink baubles hanging down the branches. The mural would be at the spot where the cot would be placed. He did most of the work as he didn't want her to over exert herself. She really appreciated it. Although watching him work was quite challenging. All that sweat and flexing muscles were a sight to behold. She often had to fan herself down or get something cold to drink.
He was never sure where he stood with her. Her mood swings were quite extreme. She would laughing and joking with him the one day and the next she would shout at him or give him the cold shoulder. But no matter what the mood she was in he could be sure she would always be in the mood to make love. And he enjoyed sleeping with her in his arms. Sometimes when she was asleep he would just enjoy her presence. Holding his girls in his arms was the ultimate prize. Often, his angel would kick his hand and he would have his conversations with her. He already felt such a special connection with her. He was weary about what would happen after she was born. Although they decorated the nursery together and made love, she still shared nothing of the baby with him. When he tried to talk about her, she would change the subject. And he never pursued it.
She was 8 months pregnant when she went to the bathroom after a heavy bout of lovemaking. Intense fear gripped her heart as she saw that clots of blood came down with her urine. She left the bathroom and sat down on the bed. She was too scared to voice her biggest fear. She couldn't even cry.
"Aarti come lie down."
She didn't respond.
"Aarti, what's wrong."
"I ... I'm bleeding." she said softly.
"What."
"I'm bleeding."
"I thought you said the baby was safe."
"That's what I thought."
"Aarti, you have to call the doctor."
"No." She went to lie down. She just wanted to block everything out. Pretend that this was not happening.
"Aarti you have to call. You have to explain to him what's happening. I can't do that. "
He grabbed his phone, dialled the number and handed it to her. She told the doctor what is happening and he said that he must go to the hospital immediately. She had stopped bleeding and they attached a heart rate monitor and everyone was happy that the baby had a healthy heartbeat.
"Mrs. Scindiaya, I suspect you are suffering from placenta previa, and if that is the case, we have to do an emergency caesarean section. But we will have to wait and see if you bleed again."
They left her for hours. She was so anxious but at least the bleeding stopped. Until she needed to use the bathroom again and the same thing happened. She was scheduled for the surgery immediately. He didn't leave her side.
"Mr. Scindiya, please come and stand in front of your wife, Mrs Scindiya hold on to him and try and keep still while we administer the anaesthetic. She held onto him and she looked at him, with fear in her eyes and he tried to look back at her with reassurance that he did not feel. He held her hand while the surgery was in progress. Finally Miss Payal Scindiya was born. She was healthy. The nurse took her and cleaned her and handed her to her father while her mother was still being attended to post surgery. Her first contact was with her father and again they felt their special bond. They fell in love with each other immediately. When Aarti was ready he laid her down on her chest.
The raw emotion he saw on her face tugged at his heart strings. He loved them so much. And they looked so perfect right that moment. He took some photos with his phone and the nurse took a few of the three of them as well.
"How are you feeling Aarti?'
"Happy. So happy." she said as she looked at her baby totally awestruck.
3 days later Aarti entered SM. The doting grandparents, Aunt and Uncle waiting. They did the welcome and Aarti was sent up to her room to rest as she still has to go a long way towards healing. But within a day she was up and about. She endured the pain to look after her daughter herself.
Yash immediately noted the shift in her attitude. She would not let him handle the baby. Whenever he held her, she would find some reason to take her from him. Even in the middle of the night when Payal cried, and he tried to help her but she always got up and took over. He could only hold her when she was not around, like when she was in the shower. So he had very little time with his daughter. And he understood why. But none the less it hurt beyond belief.
Aarti stepped into the house after Payal 2nd month vaccination. She saw her family sit in the lounge with some guests. But this time her mother didn't get up to get her granddaughter which was her natural reaction it seemed since the day that Payal came home. This already puzzled her.
"Aarti went to greet her parents and came to a halt."
"Beta this is your ..."
"I know who he is Ma."
"Your father wanted to meet with you, Pari and your husbands. He has brought your stepmom and brother and sister."
"Namaste. I am sorry, Payal had a bad night last night and she will probably be feverish from the vaccination, so if you will excuse me, I want to take a nap while she is sleeping." She walked off.
Yash came in after she did and heard the exchange.
"Yash, this is your father in law." his father said.
He didn't like the man for what he did to Aarti.
"Namaste. I will go see of Aarti."
"No beta, let me," said his father.
He wanted to go to her but he knew she had a special relationship with his father and it would probably be better this way. So he stayed and reluctantly got better acquainted with his in laws in a very tense atmosphere. As usual Prateek tried to lighten the mood, but not even Pari was her usual happy self. The mothers tried to make conversation awkwardly. And the sister and brother tried to engage them. But his father in law said very little. But his attention was barely there. He was wondering if she was ok.
Aarti had laid Payal down in her crib and sat on her bed. There was a knock on the door and bauji came in.
"Are you ok, beta?'
"Yes, bauji. But I am not going back down there."
"That's fine. But beta, your father is reaching out. Maybe you should give him a chance. I can't even think of being without my sons, and even you and Paridhi. I think he has realised his mistake. And you have a brother and sister that you might like to get to know."
"Bauji please. I can't do this now."
"Aarti, you grew up without a father and it got you to this place, where you can't even let Yash be part of his daughter life."
She looked at him shocked,
"Yes, love. It is very obvious. You need to deal with this. For you and Payal. She needs to have a relationship with her father. Don't rob her or him of this. I see a lot of similarities between you and Yash's mother. Her first pregnancy ended in a miscarriage. And when she found out about her pregnancy with Yash she started to be overprotective. And she kept him to herself, never letting me in. Even when Prateek was born out of one of our rare encounters, she still only doted on Yash. Their bond was very special, but it also damaged a lot of other relationships. His relationship with me, with you, with your mother. And now his relationship with his daughter is at stake because of the same thing. It feels like history repeating itself to me. Luckily he was always loved Prateek. But he could never see his mother's flaws where Prateek was concerned. So I am asking, no begging you today, beta, forgive your father and give Payal her father.
"Bauji," she said with tears in her eyes. "I wish you were my real dad. You are so amazing."
"If I were your real dad, then how would I have kept you and my granddaughter in my house? And how would my son have had the love of his life."
"No bauji"
"Yes, he loves you. And only you can help him and heal him from the pain that losing his mother caused. You and Payal. It will all work out. Trust me." he hugged her and kissed her on her forehead.
"I can't do this now bauji, but I will definitely consider it."
"That's all I ask. Now have your nap, while my angel still allows you." he smiled and walked out.
She lay down on the bed. So much made sense to her now, about him and his relationship with his mother. Whether she could forgive and accept a relationship with her father and his family she was not sure, but she was considering it as she told bauji. What an emotional day she thought, thankful that her mother found this gem of a man that had so much love and wisdom. She had a lot to think about. Does she continue living in fear and transfer the same to her daughter. She knew Yash loved their baby. And for her she would do anything. So many thoughts went through her mind as she dozed off.
His father had come back down and just nodded at him. He understood that she was fine but he wouldn't rest till he had checked on her. And when he came into the bedroom when the guest left, she was sound asleep. He rubbed her head and checked on his princess and she too was asleep. He was relieved. And he was sure, it was because of bauji that she was at peace. He had never really had a close relationship with his father like Prateek. And he envied her and her sister their relationship with him when they came to live here. Now he was glad for it. She needed a real father today. He had to admit to himself that he had never seen his father as happy as when they came. He had never seen his parents display any affection. And with Rhadha, he was openly affectionate and their banter was often jovial. And he resented that. Why could he be that way with Rhadha and not his mother? But of late, after speaking with Prateek, he was coming to realise things that he had not seen before. Things that should have been quite obvious. He had always thought that he was closer to his mother and Prateek to his father. He had never realised that he was closest to his mother because she didn't allow any else to be close to her or hm. He felt guilty about Prateek not having a real relationship with his mother. And he was coming to see what his father and his brother saw in Rhadha. Maybe he had misjudged her. And if he did, he had a world of pain and suffering that he had to make up to Aarti for. If she could possibly forgive him for everything. Was her heart big enough to forgive the unforgivable? Could she possible love him again? He hoped and prayed this with all his heart.

lovely update. waiting for next
he is definitely coming around. And Aarti has to come around too.Another amazing update. Good to see that Yash is hoping that his angel will help him to get back to Arti. Slowly his exterior wall is chipping away. Continue soon.
He made a huge mistake by denying his child but he realizes his mistake soon. Bit then it might be too late. His words hurt and reminded her of her own rejection by her father.Exactly how I hopped this part will be, if this is the bigining of his redemption then I'm happy even though at one point he was making me so mad that I wanted to go find him ad hit him so hard that he came back to his senses how dare he questions the petenity of his own child...and I'm also glad he listened to her mother and stayed to take care of his wife and kid...I just hope the man in him is unleashed soon and he starts caring for his entire family and stop accusing radha and aarti for being gold diggers because they love him...beautiful update honey B it excided my wildest imagination of it... 😛
