New Beginnings.
Chapter 1 - page 1
She was so beautiful, so alluring. This was not what he had expected when he came to watch his daughter's pre-school performance. They had told them of their dance practices and that she had taught them, but he didn't know that she would be joining them on stage. The smile on her face, the sway of her delectable hips and her long raven tresses being thrown from side to side were driving him wild. The look on her face showed that she was totally unaware of the magnificent vision she was portraying. She was totally enjoying herself with the children on the stage. He tore his eyes away from her and to see what effect she had on the rest of the audience. He could see as he scanned the audience that she has the same effect on quite a few of the fathers in the audience. He felt jealous and possessive of her. He had the urge to go to the stage and carry her off like a cave man so that she can only move so provocatively for him. He loosened his tie and then started to clench and unclench his fists next to him. What was happening to him? Why was he behaving as if he was seeing her for the first time? A voice penetrated his crazy musings.
"Yash, she is so beautiful. Just like the girls described her to be." It was Arpita. His fiance.
He just gave a forced smile.
"And she dances so well. I can understand that the school asked her to help out."
He just nodded.
Finally, his torture ended as the song came to an end they left the stage. It was the last item and they left soon after. As he came out of the auditorium, he saw her speaking the school principal. He was looking at her in a way that made Yash want to punch him. Once again he had to contain himself.
"Pappa, Pappa" he heard. He saw his precious angels running towards him.
"Did you see us?" Said Payal.
"Did you like our dance?" Said Palak.
"You were the best dancers out there. But I already knew that you would be."
"Really pappa?" they said together.
"Your pappa is right", said Arpita. "You are just the best."
"Thank you" they said smiling.
He looked up and saw her looking their way. And when she saw him look her way she started walking away.
"Aartiji! Aartiji" it was Arpita calling her,
She turned around and waited for Arpita to reach her.
"Hi, my name is Arpita. Yash's fiance. I have been dying to meet you. You are all the girls talk about non-stop. How pretty you are and what a good dancer you and I see it is all true. You did a magnificent job with this concert."
"Thank you Arpitaji. They talk about you often too. And they also told me how beautiful you are. They have really taken to you quite quickly."
"Mamma, mamma, see Pappa came to see us."
"Yes, I see that" she mustered the best smile that she could.
"Hello, Yashji"
"Hello Aartiji"
It was awkward. He was looking at his ex-wife and his future wife making small talk. And for the girls they had to pretend that things were normal.
"Nice meeting you Arpitaji. If you will excuse me, we had a long day and I really need to get the girls home and into bed. Mr. Dubey has offered to take us home."
"I can take you home" it slipped out before he could stop it. He didn't want that man near her.
"No thank you. The arrangements have already been made." she said coldly.
"Say goodbye to pappa and Arpita aunty, darlings. We have to go." and she left.
He had dropped Arpita and went straight home. He had taken a shower to clear his head but it didn't work. It had been 3 years since he had last seen her. That day was possibly the worst day of his life. He had refused that she take the children. She had no income, no skill and she wanted to take his children. His parents were on his side obviously. They were happy to see her go but they wouldn't let her take their grandchildren. But she stood strong. She knew how important image was to this family. She knew things about them that could out then in a bad light publicly and threatened to use it. They agreed to let her go.
He went crazy that day. His brothers had to contain him. He wanted to kill her for taking his children away. When he calmed down and able to see reason, he had set out terms for their separation and divorce. He would choose a house that was suitable for his children, she would not work as he wanted her to be there for the children all the time, and he would see the children every second week and half each school holiday and the festivals would be alternated. She refused his alimony at first but he would not allow that. His children would not be deprived. They would have the best Scindiya money could offer and she had no choice in the matter. They had a nanny, which suited both of them. Between the nanny and his PA it was possible for them never to see each other for the past 3 years. Till tonight.
He hadn't thought much about her in the 3 years that they had been separated. He just wanted to close that chapter of his life. He knew she didn't want to see him either. Their relationship had always been volatile and it ended in true to form.
Flashback
He remembered how they met 5 years ago. He had reversed out of the parking lot of the club that he and his friends had just been to. His father had just bought him the Ferrari for his 21st birthday. He heard a bang as his car connected with another car. He was raging mad as he got out of his car.
Before he could do or say anything he heard shouting.
"Idiot! Are you blind? Do you think because you drive a fancy car that you just always have the right of way? Look at my car. My parents are going to kill me.
What do you have to say for yourself?"
"Blind!? Me!? Are you crazy? You just came out of nowhere. You are the one that is blind. Who misses a red Ferrari? Look at my car. You will pay for this and if you don't is swear that I will make you regret it."
"Oh really, Mr. Big Shot Ferrari driver? You think you can scare me? Well I don't scare that easily. I will not be paying you anything. In fact you will have to pay for the repairs of my car."
"What car, that thing belongs on a scrap heap."
"But it is mine and it is paid for Mr. Moneybags. You probably have to pay yours off for the next 5 years."
"FYI, my car has been bought cash. My lightbulb probably costs more than your whole car."
"Good, then pay me now seeing you have bucket loads of money."
"Listen here Missy ..."
"Missy, who is your missy? She moved to stand chest to chest with him in a threatening pose. It was completely ineffectual as he was so tall and he she just a slip of a girl despite her high heels. She looked up at him with her most threatening look she could muster.
He looked down at her. She looked more cute than threatening. She was breathing heavily and he was distracted by the way her breasts moved up and down. In fact she was actually quite beautiful. He had an urge to kiss her.
"Are you perving on me?" she was utterly dismayed.
"A little. You are actually quite cute. I'd like to kiss you."
"Excuse me?"
"First you can't see my car and now you can't hear me. I said, I want to kiss you."
"And I suppose all the women you know fall for that line."
"Normally yes"
"Well I am not one of them."
She moved away.
"Here is my business card. Text me your details. I will see that your car is fixed. Your name, number and address."
"Why my address?"
"I want to send someone to assess the damage."
"Ok." she said and got back in her car and left.
Present day
Aarti was very disturbed. Seeing him so unexpectedly had taken the wind right out of her sails. She should have known that she would see him again. After all they shared children. She just wished she didn't have to see him ever again. The only good thing that came out of their relationship were her sweet angels.
She had always known that they were never meant to be. They were from two separate worlds. He was practically Indian royalty, his previous list of conquests ranged from Bollywood stars to supermodels. She was from a normal middle class family. Her parents had normal jobs and they had finally saved up enough money to buy their eldest daughter a car. She had started her first year at college and they wanted her to be able to drive there, especially if she had late classes or had to stay late to do research at the library. They did not have internet facilities at home. They would not let her work part time as they wanted her to concentrate on her studies. They wanted her to make a success of her life and there was a lot of pressure on her from them.
She had texted her details to him as requested. They next day, there was a knock on the door. She opened the door.
"I am looking for Aarti Sharma."
"Yes, that's me."
"Please sign here. I have a delivery for you."
She signed and looked around to what it could be.
"What is it?'
"It's that car over there."
"What? Who sent it?"
"Here is an envelope."
"Dear Miss Sharma,
The damages have been assessed and your vehicle has been deemed uneconomical to repair. So as you feel that I was at fault in the accident I have arranged for you to be reasonably compensated.
I hope you enjoy your new ride.
YS"
She called him up immediately.
"Hello, Miss Sharma" There was a smile in his voice.
"How dare you! I am not a charity case. I want my car fixed and please come and remove your car from our premises before I call the police and report it as an abandoned vehicle." She disconnected the call.
Yash sat shocked at the other side of the call. What kind of a girl was this? Why wouldn't she accept the car? It was a pretty basic car, it wasn't even that expensive. He had thought she would be grateful. That's it. He was done with her. She can have her piece of scrap back, he thought angrily.
Yet the next day, he found himself at her house, charmingly telling her parents why she should be accepting the car. They fell for it hook line and sinker and she was angrier than ever with him. She looked even hotter when she was angry and left her home, giving her victorious wink on his way out when her parents weren't looking. He was determined now to have her.
She had no choice but to accept the stupid car. He had convinced her parents that the car they bought her was a safety risk since he knocked into it and he wouldn't be able to live with himself if something should happen to their daughter. He told him that the accident was all his fault and they would be doing him a huge favour by accepting it. He had just turned on the charm and they were taken with him. And the audacity of the victorious smile and wink that he gave her was too much.
He had just left when her phone rang,
"Just thought I'd tell you that you look hotter when you are mad. Oh yes, I forgot the mention before that I think you are hot. And I still want to kiss you. Can I pick you up later for dinner?"
She blushed.
"Sorry, I have study tonight" she had to stay calm in front of her parents.
"Your parents are still in the room, right?"
"Yes, that's right."
"Please say yes. If not tonight, then tomorrow."
"I don't think it will ever happen. Good bye" she disconnected the call.
He laughed. He would not give up so easily.
"Good bye. Mwah Mwah Mwah" he texted her.
She was so even angrier now. She would show him.
