THE BOLT OUT OF THE BLUE
Yash came out of his room to see her in the hall. Today she wasn't the simple aarthi. She was a breathtaking beauty today. He saw her long silky hair open just as he like. That dark eyeliner made her chocolate brown eyes look even more captivating. Her slender neck was adorned with huge diamond jewelries. He saw her wearing the scindhya's bangle which his mother had given her. He was staring at her with his mouth open and eyes wide. He wondered how that woman never misses to grab his attention. The red saree she wore made her look even more enchanting. Aarthi saw him dressed in one of the best shervani she ever knew. It was no wonder he looked handsome because he looked charming in even simple cloths. She looked around to see many girls drooling on him but his eyes were fixed at her. That made her feel she was on cloud nine. With his mouth open wide, he looked so cute that she wanted to take the picture of it. Zoya's and sunitha's continuous comments made her blush. She wondered how that the man in front of her stir so much emotions she never knew that that existed in her. Yash was brought out of his reverie when he felt someone close his mouth. It was none other than vikram.
Vikram:" hmm Mr. yash scindhya seems you are ready to marry her today itself. Can I tell to gayathri maa? She will talk to bauji."
Yash was stunned as he had never seen vikram talk like that.
Vikram:" why are you staring at me like this? You have never seen me like this na. hmm what to do when I have boring yash scindhya as my friend then I would also be boring but now I have two new friends. Want to know who they are? They are none other than asad and aman."
It was just when asad and aman hugged him.
Aman:" hello yash. Hope you remember me. That day I was on skype when you were all on the restaurant."
Yash:" yes. How would I forget? You are one of the craziest gang on the world. By the way thanks for coming."
Aman:" hey don't say thanks and make us an outsider. We are more than a family to aarthi and since you are going to marry aarthi we are your friends too. But on a serious note aarthi is one rarest person you can see in today's world. We hope you will take good care of her."
Yash:" sure I would aman."
Asad:" are you two going to talk like this? Look out there people are waiting for yash. So can we move?"
Yash smiled and started to move towards her. She saw him approaching her as her face turned pink out of blushing. Zoya, sunitha and neha giggled on seeing it while vidhi and simar made them sit together after they took the blessings of elders.
Pandit:" if everyone had come can we start the engagement?"
Yash:" no panditji actually my brother is out for some important work. Can we wait till that?"
Pandit:" no problem beta. There are two more hours for the auspicious time to end. We can wait till that."
Yash:" thank you panditji. Till then we have arranged for many entertaining events tonight. We hope you all will enjoy it."
Yash looked at aarthi to know her opinion. She nodded her head giving her approval. The events started as everyone got engrossed in them. But there were two persons in the hall who were extremely unhappy with the happenings. It was none other than kathyayini and maya. Since the birds of same feather flock together, they both got along well in a very short time.
Kathyayini:" you know mayaji, I hate this aarthi. You know what this girl already had a lover who died just on the day of their marriage. Before all those happened I myself went to ask this girl's hand in marriage for my soon but you know what she refused my son. She thinks so high of her. Does your family know about all this?"
Maya:" yes I think everyone knows about all this. Today morning I overheard bhabhi talking about her to my bhaiya. This yash is also nevertheless to her. He is still in love with his lost love. I also overheard him saying that this marriage was just a compromise to his friend. If you go to his room you can see that arpitha's pictures all over his room even now. Does your family know about it?"
Kathyayini:" they know about his past but I don't think they about these pictures on his room. Hmm look at the irony, for the compromise marriage they are going to do their families have made this much grand arrangement. But I won't let this engagement happen in peace."
Maya:" what are you going to do kathyayini ji?"
Kathyayini:" just wait and watch the fun mayaji."
Amidst all the fun kathyayini called shobha, sathyendra and prem and took them to yash's room on the first floor and made sure no one saw them leaving. But aarthi saw what kathyayini was doing. She got up from her place when she felt someone held her hand. She turned to see that it was none other than yash. She whispered in his ears that she would return within a short time and made her way to his room. She entered inside to see her family all the pictures in the room.
Sathyendra dubey:" what are all these aarthi? We know that he had a past love. You were the only one who visited this house after we made the alliance and since you were ready for this marriage we thought everything is running smooth. Why didn't you say about these things to us aarthi?"
Aarthi:" papa please calm down. These are the pictures of his past love papa. This room is filled with his love for her papa. He is just like me papa. Look at how happy he is in this pictures papa just like how I was with my prasanth. But now we have nothing papa nothing but pain. No one can understand other's pain till they also experience the pain. I can understand his pain because I also went through this. This marriage is the perfect for me papa. We both will support each other through the good and bad times of our life. You three have always supported me in every decision I took papa. Please support me this time too. Whatever happens, this marriage should not stop and please let the pictures stay as they are. Please papa please."
Kathyayini:" aarthi, you are the best orator I have ever seen but shobha you all should stop nodding your heads to whatever she says. Enough of all the freedom you gave her."
Shobha:" please stop it bhabhi. I know you don't like my daughter for whatever reason it might be but you have no rights to indulge in my family matters. As for as our daughter is concerned, we have brought her up with virtues. She knows to discriminate between the good and the bad. You think we will stop this marriage for these things. Aarthi respects yash's feeling and she also respects his past love. At this age where even marriage has become a time pass there are two persons in front of us, who are still faithful to their past love which the destiny took away from them. As far as aarthi don't have any problems with these stuffs, we also don't mind it. The family she is going to enter respects and loves her so much I would say much more than we do. So it would be better if you worry about your family matters rather than digging into other's matter. Let's all leave from here; they will start searching for us."
Shobha stormed out of the room followed by sathyendra, prem and aarthi as kathyayini gritted her teeth in anger but what they all missed to see was that yash was standing behind the door hearing their conversations. He came there to attend a call he received. His eyes welled with tears when he realized the respect and faith they had on him. He realized how much freedom aarthi had on her home. He wondered whether he was really worth to be the son in law of such a wonderful people. He returned to the hall and sat next to aarthi. She was smiling and when he returned she asked where he went with her eye gesture. He showed her his phone indicating he had got some call. Aarthi nodded her head and winked at him and continued to watch the event. He wondered how she was so calm even after witnessing the things that happened in the room a little while ago. He understood only one thing he was going to entrust himself into the safe hands of someone. He giggled at the irony that these stuffs are usually said but woman but he was saying it being a man. Soon the events ended but pratheek hadn't returned home.
Pandit:" how long yash beta? Only one hour is left for the auspicious time to end."
Yash:" please wait for some more time panditji. He will be coming."
He tried pratheek's number but it was not reachable. Aarthi was looking at the entrance waiting for pratheek's arrival. Maya saw aarthi looking at the entrance and knew it was the right opportunity to taunt her.
Maya:" meri bhagwan ki kasam. What are you looking at aarthi? Hmm waiting is not new to you. I heard that even a year ago you were waiting like this for your lover dressed as a bride while your bad luck took him away from you and he went to the place where no one could reach alive. I'm praying nothing should happen to our pratheek like that. Who knows your bad luck can affect anyone in our family."
Yash was shocked on hearing it. Did she loose her love when she was about to marry him? He looked at the strong willed woman who was fighting with all the odds that the life threw to her smilingly. He saw her bend her head as a silent drop of tears escaped her eyes. He knew what he had to do now.
Yash:" buaji please not anything more. You can taunt me or anyone in our family but aarthiji hasn't even married me. You don't hold the rights to scold her. What was her fault in her lover dying on the very day of their marriage? Being a widow can't you realize the pain she is going through and must have gone through? I don't know or care about what this society thinks of her. But for me she is the most wonderful woman in this world and I'm proud of marrying her."
The bent head of aarthi rose up as she saw yash who sat next to her holding her hands tight. She realized she had someone in her life to support her and a hand which will guide her through the journey of her life. But what she didn't realize was that she had started admiring the man next to her. But it was not just aarthi who was surprised by yash's reaction. Aarthi turned to see tears of happiness in the eyes of the dubeys, scindhyas and her gang. It was just when they heard footsteps in the entrance. Everyone in the hall turned to see pratheek entering but was shocked.
