Ahhh, the joys of retrospection. During that time, I think we were all desperately trying to hold onto the positives, desperately trying not to see the negatives yet there are always positives and negatives and I think it is very important that we both sides to get a final closure.
I do think PV was not given a proper closure. I always enjoy going back and thinking what went wrong or what could have been done differently. It helps me immensely in getting closures. 😆 So, here goes and I am just focussing on the closure of the show.😆
1) The lack of focus on Ansh, Palak and Payal towards the end especially the last one month. These kids were the USP of the show. These kids were so so important in every step of AarYa's journey and it really is a shame that even during AarYa's final flashback on their journey the kids weren't mentioned at all.
2) The Scindiya's moving to Mumbai. It made zero sense to me. Scindiya's were an extremely wealthy family belonging to the elite strata of Bhopal society. Their business was going extremely well. Yash in particular was very successful. There is no dearth of marriages in Bhopal that Yash or any of the Scindiyas would want to move to Mumbai to make a name for themselves. Moving to Mumbai means Yash would have to start from scratch in a highly competitive world. They even showed him getting insulted. Why would Yash or any of the Scindiyas even think about uprooting the kids and their lives and go through all that when they already have everything they need or could want in Bhopal. And then comes AarYa. AarYa normally would never ever move or leave Bhopal when their child was missing. Even if we argue that they could keep in touch with the police through phone, AarYa are just not the kind of parents who would move away when their child was still missing and they sincerely believed that he was alive and they will eventually find him. The move just didn't fit in with the narrative of the story until then. So ya, it sucks when writers do something like that just so that their new lead could be promoted.
3) The whole Aayu saga. I am not even sure what was the need for it. The show was ending. Why bring in such a sensitive topic and treat it with utmost insensitivity. This was a wonderful track to show if they had time, with the track culminating in Pari realizing few things as well as Yash and Aarti. And then the worst was to show Aayu being thrown around by goons just so that the new lead could save Aayu and the new lead could be portrayed as a paragon of virtue. That little child had gone through so much in his mother's womb as well as after he came out that I think our Aayu deserved more respect than that. What they did with Aayu's story was a blasphemy.
4) The last hug and the last two days. Yes, I tried to make myself feel better by thinking that the show ended as just another day in Yash and Aarti's life and Yash and Aarti talking about another couple's problems is so quintessentially Yash and Aarti. But two months later, yup I believe with every fiber in my body that Yash and Aarti deserved an ending that was just them and not dialogues that was part of a promotion. Even having those little kids come running into the room and hugging Yash and Aarti would have made it so much better.
5) Finally, the offscreen promotions. Yes, they are actors and they are used to all this. Yes, this was a business strategy and the channel as well as the PH have every right to use whatever strategy that works for them. All that is fine but yet it doesn't make it right nor do I have to accept it as a consumer and brush it under the rug.😆 Having actors who took pride in their characters and who have given their everything to the show, say that the new season would be better in ever way, was pretty sad.
I loved this show with all its strengths and its flaws. I really appreciate the writers for what they were trying to achieve through Yash and Aarti's story and even though I see more positives and less negatives with this show it does sadden me to think that the last month the writers gave up on PV-1 to give birth to PV-2. But, like all of us, I am very glad that PV happened and will be always thank ful to this PH for that. And I am also very very appreciative of how much they tried to keep going despite luck favoring against us with a horrible time slot and lack of feedback via TRPs during the digitization period and the worst, the channel's interference and demands. 😳
