And this is why Punar Vivah is the BEST show on tv at the moment! We might find flaws in several episodes, we might find the leads stupid at times, but episodes like these prove the merit of the show!
Before I come to my favourite part of the show- that is Yash's dialogue cum monologue at the end...I have to talk about the Mangalsutra scene. I am so glad that radha spoke up today, and told in very clear words that it was AarYa's hasty plan which cost her her prestige! Yash's stunned reaction and aarti's shocked face spoke more than 1000 words! AarYa deserved that from Radha, and this strengthens my faith on the creatives. I wanted AarYa to realize that they were very wrong in publicly announcing their decision to SP, and in resorting to emotional blackmail! And Radha made them realize that!
I also loved that Yash did not try to stop Radha...loved the silent understanding between the two.
Now comes the best part of the episode! Yash's interaction with the family. While I still feel Yash and Aarti should have waited for some more time before talking about this Punar Vivah, I have to salute Yash today for countering every question of his brothers and Vidhi by flawless logic! The dialogues given to Yash were one of the best yet in PV! I , usually, always have a problem with PV's heavy duty dialogues, but I applaud the writer today! There was zero melodrama in whatever Yash said, just raw emotions and plain logic! Prateik, Pankaj and Vidhi had to keep quiet, because today they saw why AarYa wanted this Punar Vivah!
I absolutely loved the fact that more than Pankaj, Prateik questioned Yash today! Of course it had to be him! Wasn't he the matchmaker in Yash-Aarti's Punar Vivah? And so when Prateik, rightly from his POV questions " How can we give Radha Ma our Mother's place? Haven't we grown up worshipping her?" , Yash immediately replies back " If you could gladly give Aarti Ji Arpita's place, why can't we give Badi Maa, Mother's place? Didn't U want me to marry Aarti ji?" I loved the mention of Arpita by Yash! Weren't we all waiting for Yash to connect to SP's situation because he had gone through the same emotions?
Next Pankaj tries to explain that Yash's Punar Vivah was important because he had small kids who needed a mother. And Yash's answer was BRILLIANT. He asked " Don't we all need a mother forever?" Pankaj had nothing to say because yes, we all need a mother forever..not just as kids!
It was awesome to see Yash bringing his past into the picture without any inhibitions today! He reminds all that he had done the PV only for his kids, and not for a wife. He accepts that he had never given Aarti the status of a wife. He tells them that it was they who were upset with him for not coming out of the past!
And this leads Vidhi to spill out the question that society will ask first! How can you think of getting Bauji remarried? There is a huge difference between your and his age! What she meant was that Yash needed a PV becoz he was young, had physical and emotional needs, and needed to fall in love again! And Yash knew what she meant, and answered her on those grounds! He told her that a life partner need not always be a lover, but should always be a companion, a friend!
Fantastic dialogues! Superb logic! zero melodrama! It was spot on!
I just have one more wish. I want this scene to continue further, before Bua makes her appearance! I want Yash to elaborate that when he says he is ready to give Badi Ma his mother's place, it does not mean he is ready to forget his mother, or love her any less, or not think her as his father's wife! I want him to say that in order to love and accept someone, it is not necessary to forget the other. And I want him to finally say it loud and clear - that he is madly in love with Aarti now, but he still loves Arpita as much as he used to, that he has not forgotten her, nor will . I want him to say that he has given Aarti Arpita's place which means he has given Aarti the place of his wife, because it is rightfully hers, but that does not mean he does not consider Arpita as his wife any more...I want him to say, that sometimes, it is actually possible for a person to love 2 people equally without being unfair or disloyal to either! And if he can do so, then why not SP?
