oh really?? people don't miss mythological or religious shows?? well you see i am persian. . and once this religious show muslim show came out 3-4 years ago and its still talked about. . translated into urdu and arabic . . .and still replayed on some channels.
So since i never watched ramayan nor found out about Tellywood during that time. . .i compared it with the persian show. . .for which the main lead became beyond popular and still can't get over his performance.
Having that in my mind i made that comparison. ..sorry just in case i may have been offensive.
I guess time will tell with Gurmeet really. i doubt people will forget his role at least i am not. and as for Yash i was mad at him for acting crazy and not understanding why GC took up this role and called it unique but the cvs are having Yash redeem himself and i am loving falling for him again.
I am sure this show will also make him reach heights, but for me its always his role as MSK who gave him that extra oomph and made him rise high in popularity. too each their own i guess.
I guess they're not missed like other shows, because there are so many mythological shows made every year so once one comes to an end, another is made. It's just that with mythological shows, the widest audience are religious Hindu people (no surprise there😆). People watch shows like Ramayan or Mahabharat to see their Gods Ram and Krishna in the actors. When people watch mythological shows, they don't really care about the actors or their personal lives. So when Ramayan aired on NDTV Imagine, many people did not really care to know who played Ram. They just saw their God in him and many felt spritually at peace seeing the show. When they knew him as Gurmeet, they respected him for playing a Godly character and it did not change their reverence for him. Gurmeet really did become popular during Ramayan, but the reason a lot of people did not know him then is that he became popular mostly among the children, adults, elderly, and the religious folk.😳 I was on IF since 2008 so I know the popularity of Gurmeet then. Only a certainy type of audience watches mythological shows so you cannot really compare them with fictional shows to determine popularity. Even then, Ramayan always maintained steady TRPs of 2+ throughout the show, and one week it even went up to 5.
You're right that it's Maan that made people go crazy over him, and that's because that's how the character of Maan is like. He's the type of guy girls would drool over.
Can you honestly tell me that people would drool over God?😆 That's just plain odd!😕😆 During Ramayan, Gurmeet was seen as God in many families, so he wasn't the type of character people would drool over. More than that, people were devoted to him and some even sent money and sweets to the sets of Ramayan as 'offerings to God'.🤣 Gurmeet said this himself in an interview, and I just cracked up over how silly fans can be, lol.
You're right that each to his own. I don't undermine Maan's popularity at all. In fact, I respect all of Gurmeet's roles and hold a soft corner for both Maan and Yash simply because they were played by Gurmeet, but my favorite will always be Ram because I'm a mythological freak (especially when it comes to the epic Ramayana). I've watched all the versions of Ramayan out there starting from the 1986.😆
