I thought Gurmeet was awesome in his interview but I passionately dislike those interviewers. I agree with Aanya because it did seem to me that they were mocking him and trying to make him rise to the bait. He has class, something those three women don't.

I think Gurmeet is the smartest actor on television. Instead of sticking to one type of role like many actors do, and getting himself typecast in that role, he experiented with several different ones and has come out on top in all three. He played God, an angry young businessman, and now a loving father with a tragic past. You can't get any more versatile than that.😆Like it's been mentioned, Gurmeet has garnered fans from ALL age-groups because of this three shows, and all sorts of fans too. Children, teenagers, adults, middle-aged adults, and the elderly all love him because of his work in Ramayan, Geet, and Punar Vivah. Also, not just normal television viewers but religious people appreciate him as Ram, so he has snagged their love too.😆 In my opinion, these roles were not accidental. Gurmeet planned it from the very start to take on very versatile roles so that people in bollywood would recognize his talent in being able to portray anything (he also played a villain in Mayavi). Gurmeet is very clever and knows what makes an actor famous. Sticking to the same type of role would not have made him popular. If he constantly played God like some actors in the mythological genre do, he'd not have been recognized by people who are not into religious shows, whereas had he stuck to businessman roles like Maan and ASR, he'd only have attracted the youth population and not the older people. With Yash, he has gotten the appreciation of adults so Gurmeet has made a very clever move in doing all types of roles. If he changes his mind and does another show in the future, I'd like it to be different again. Maybe he can play a negative lead now.

@Sadiie,
Well said! Gurmeet is popular today because of ALL his shows. It really irritates me when people give all the credit to GHSP, because while it doubtlessly made him widely popular among the youth, he got the role of Maan because of Ramayan. The director of GHSP himself said that he caught a glimpse of Gurmeet in Ramayan one day and decided that none other but him could be MSK. Plus, the TRPs of Ramayan itself proove that it was anything but a flop show. It was really popular among many Hindu families, especially for the children and elderly (also many youth) who loved it. People need only watch the old SBS videos that are still left to see how popular it was.
We also cannot sideline Yash and Punar Vivah, because its TRPs proove that people love the show and his character. I know a lot of people who've never watched Ramayan or Geet and are watching Punar Vivah because they find Yash's character very mysterious and enigmatic. Yash has made Gurmeet more popular also, so I give EQUAL credit to all three of Gurmeet's roles. I honestly do not believe that only one show (aka Geet) made him popular. Gurmeet himself recognizes each role and respects all of them equally, so as his fans it's important for us to respect all his roles too, even if we may not like some of them.

What made him popular over the charts was Maan singh khurana

Links-up happen to every actor. . .the more popular you become the worse it gets. . . Comes with stardom. . You gain some you lose some that's how life works. it sucks, but that's how life is. You become an actor knowing that.

Again he was popular as RAM, but wat made people go crazy for him was MSK. Even when the TRP sucked. .. or the show was showing some crappy tracks people still watched and even fought for the show like crazy for ending. MSK will always be that one character who gave him the extra oomph and popularity over all the charts. . . regardless if his other characters were popular as well. MSK was the most popular.

WHo said that??? season 2 died the second Gurmeet signed for the new show one month after the show ended. If there was no hopes then . . there is no hope now. Whey they have to ignore each other. . heck if they will get back with each other to do a new show.

No i can't ignore the fact that he was popular with all 3, but i refuse to believe that they gave him equal level of popularity. People still watch and see him as Maan, but learned to give him a new place as YAsh. Not to be rude or offensive but not many people say we want you back as RAM. If people say anything its always "missing you as maan".

Why couldn't Guru snag a role on zee tv or some other real popular channel after ram??? he wasn't as popular as he was as MSK. that's why after MSK he could snag a role in a popular channel like zee less than a month after his show ended!

he could only snag a role as MSK in a star one channel which wasn't as popular as some other channels. and believe me if GHSP was in some other channel like star plus. . .the changed cvs wouldn't have made a mockery out of it nor would it have ended in less than 2 years. .

Still don't see why this was relevant but i couldn't ignore it.

Don't reply to this but to my main post first kamini 😆

I know not many ppl in this forum agree with me, didn't expect any. the demographic of fans here is different. If i posted somewhere else i know more ppl would agree with me. LOL!

There is never a middle. . sigh.

edit:
man this is taking this discussion to a whole random direction. i don't know why i replied. . so u don't reply 🤣🤣

Not taking it offensively but just giving an explanation to the above.😉 People cannot say they want him back as Ram even if they want to, because 1) Ramayan is a show based off of a religious scripture, so it has a definite end and people knew when to expect the end from the first episode itself. 2) There can never be a season 2 of Ramayan because of the above. 3) There are DVDs of Ramayan readily available so if people want to see it again, they can buy them instead of waiting for the episodes to air again on TV. 4) People don't miss Gurmeet as Ram because Ram's story has a definitely beginning and ending. It's not like other stories that can be dragged on forever if viewers want it (like Yeh Rishta for example, which apparently has no ending). The episodes are availble in the market so fans of Ramayan can always watch Gurmeet as Ram whenever they want to. So where does the question of missing him as Ram come in?😆
Again, you have a right to your own opinion so I haven't taken anything you said offensively at all😊, but I just wanted to make a point that Ramayan is not like general fictional shows. No one really "misses" mythological characters like they do fictional ones, because stories like Ramayan are remade all the time with different actors and different productions houses. If people really miss Ram the God, they can watch any Ramayan like the one coming on Zee right now, and if they miss Gurmeet as Ram, they can buy the DVDs or watch the show on youtube, so there's no question of missing him.
Also, Ramayan ended even before Geet, so Ramayan fans have gotten a long time to "get over" the nostalgia of the show if you know what I mean. In 2-3 more years, I'm sure people will get over Geet too because that's how it is with television shows. No one misses a show for years and years on end. Life goes on. So I think it's kind of unfair to claim that no one says they miss Gurmeet as Ram, because it's been almost 4 years since Ramayan ended, whereas Geet ended more recently. Know what I mean? Btw, I still miss him as Ram despite everything I wrote above.😳😆

oh really?? people don't miss mythological or religious shows?? well you see i am persian. . and once this religious show muslim show came out 3-4 years ago and its still talked about. . translated into urdu and arabic . . .and still replayed on some channels.

So since i never watched ramayan nor found out about Tellywood during that time. . .i compared it with the persian show. . .for which the main lead became beyond popular and still can't get over his performance.

Having that in my mind i made that comparison. ..sorry just in case i may have been offensive.

I guess time will tell with Gurmeet really. i doubt people will forget his role at least i am not. and as for Yash i was mad at him for acting crazy and not understanding why GC took up this role and called it unique but the cvs are having Yash redeem himself and i am loving falling for him again.

I am sure this show will also make him reach heights, but for me its always his role as MSK who gave him that extra oomph and made him rise high in popularity. too each their own i guess.

editted:
i don't watch many hindi dramas. . just got into them recently. . but i never seem to forget any of the shows. Like when i look them back to them once in a while. . .i really do miss them.
