WRONG USE OF THE WORD DEBATE

The correct word to be used is 'speech contest' or 'oratorical contest'.

Debate is talking for and against a given subject. There will usually be two groups. A subject is given and one group will speak in support of it and the other group will speak against it.
I initially thought this is a selection for the debate contest to be held later but the winners were given cups and so it should be a speech contest not a debate.
Please correct me if I am wrong.

Yea it was incorrectly used but I don't care...even if Ansh and Palak had made their speeches at some Annual General Meeting... it was ok with me...I am so impressed with the speeches 😆👏

Yea it was pretty weird how they kept using the word debate...Becuz thats usually when 2 people go against each other back and forth.. They used it in a incorrect way. Hopefully they will be more careful next time😊.

finally some1 pointed it out!! 👍🏼

the day the topics were revealed Ansh to speak on 'his fav teacher' and palak on 'rain' i knew it was a speech competition not debate. One can't possibly debate on such topics!

and till the very end, Yash in yesterday's episode again used the word 'debate'! 😵 i know it not a big deal but it's still a mistake and they have repeated it all along!

secondly, the other blooper i noticed was that the principal said they will give a second chance to both Ansh and Palak and if they get selected then only can they take part in the competition. But in Thursday's episode they went straight into the competition without any selection?
