Yes, I understand what you're saying dear, but the culture of the west is different so we can't expect Indian shows to be like the ones from the west.š³ There is something beautiful about both cultures. Yes, the women in western shows are definitely a lot more assertive and confident than women in Indian shows, but that shows the difference in both cultures, na? Indian women are softer, gentler, and more patient, whereas western women, or even Indian women who grew up in the west, tend to be more assertive and argumentative. It's not necessarily a bad thing when used in the right situations, but one can't change a whole culture and there are both positives and negatives in western and eastern cultures.PV viewers from the west may be a bit annoyed with how Indian women are portrayed in shows, but those living in India, especially in the villages, will relate more with these characters. I think we should watch these shows with an open mind and not judge the women characters who weep and beg for justice, because that's how culture in India is. DILs are expected to be extremely submissive to their in-laws, and many many many of them are in real life, not just in shows. The confidence and strength of women in Indian shows is portrayed through diplomacy and ability to win the love of the entire family in the long run. Indian women are not like many American women who walk out of a marriage after meeting one obstacle with the in-laws. They show immense strength and courage to win the respect of their new family, including the husband and in-laws, and there is some beauty in that also though many may not agree.Of course, many times Indian shows go overboard with screaming MILs and weak DILs, but Punar Vivah has not yet reached that stage and I hope it never will. For now, what they shows has been very realistic. I have seen it happen in real life.
