Its just that, taking into account, the way that sex has been portrayed in this show, and the dialogue in relation to it, it says a lot about how the Creatives want the audience to perceive sex in this show.
Like for instance,
1. Prateek's and Pari's SR was dealt with in a very grown up manner. This show made no bones about the fact that the two have a sexual relationship. Both were extremely confident in relation to it. Pari's crooking finger was awesome. All the while she's playing the coquettish bride hiding behind her googhat, she knows fully what she wants. For god sakes, the two role played in their suhaag raat. That was like 😳👏.
2. In the very first episodes of this show, Maansi says "physical relationship", and in the first episode where she reveals her method of keeping her husband in check. That was AWESOME. I didn't agree with what she said. But I was completely taken aback (in a good way) by PV's openly acknowledging and talking about sex.
3. ArYa's own romantic histories are telling as well. Aarti very much enjoyed her passionate moments with Prashant. Yash enjoyed his moments with the dancer😆. Both have awareness of each other.
4. Shobha's conversation with Aarti in an earlier episode was AWESOME. I don't remember which episode. But she basically told Aarti, not to be afraid of sex. She told Aarti to not forget that she is a woman, and that it is okay for her to want to feel like a woman again. Instead of giving her a lecture on how she should do her wifely duty, she told her to sate her own desires. It was such a beautifully worded little dialogue, that I will always remember it. Just another example of how this show is different from others.
5. Umm...drumroll please. The CONDOM.😲😲😲 lol no wait, the LONGLASTING condom. 👏👏👏. First time I've seen one on a hindi show. I don't think I've seen one in a hindi movie either actually. So that's saying a lot.
Could this be an implication that this show dares portray a marriage where the ultimate goal in having sex, isn't a child, but mutual gratification? Other shows (most others) always have children as some unconscious end-goal. Sex always comes after marriage, and the sooner the bride gets pregnant the better. No one, even in these advanced (and somewhat feminist) times, gives a thought to family planning. ArYa already have 3 kids. So I doubt they're going to want more (atleast not anytime soon). Maybe I'm reading too much into the presence of the LONGLASTING 👏 condom, but yeah ⭐️
6. Juxtapositioned against this younger generation, is the older generation. Yash's parents keep on talking about Yash's "zarooratein". But no one mentions that Aarti might have the same zarooratein👏. But her and Pari both have this drive. And being of a newer generation that doesn't look down upon (and even values) confident and sexually aggressive women, they aren't afraid of this side of themselves.
Basically, what I'm getting at is, I don't think ArYa are going to jump each others bones tonight. But I don't think they'll manage to avoid sex as easily as they think. So far this show has dealt with things in a very unique way. Unlike in other shows, where sex is regarded as the ultimate and final step in a relationship, this show has the opportunity to show it as just another step in the journey that is love. I would love to see the both of them give in to passion (lust?) for a night, only to wake up slightly horrified at their actions. Its a surrender of sorts, and would create a lot of interesting conflict both within and between them. Plus, Yash is a man of few words. Now I know that doesn't mean their progress has to be physical. But I have noted that ArYa's growing familiarity with each other isn't marked by their words, but rather with their interactions. He picks her up. He grabs her hand. They fall all over each other 😃. They have been very formal in their words, but there actions indicate otherwise.
Maybe I have a gutter-brain. Okay I do. ⭐️. But I remember watching GHSP, and thinking, "finally, a girl with a libido. Surely this couple won't be ashamed of sex". And they weren't. But I was a little dissapointed at how the creatives stretched it out. Sex isn't a bad thing. And I don't think its the defining moment of a relationship, like most hindi shows make it out to be. It can also be part of the journey that is love, if it is dealt with in the right way.
