Guess who's back? Bornaaa, hi ๐ค
Aarti's panicked rush to Yash's bedroom makes no sense to her, she thinks, but that's because her heart was leading her there, pulling her there with a force that probably led her feet there of their own accord...If her mind is working in conjunction with her heart, she's too worried about Yash's absence from the children's room to think things through at the moment. That moment of frenzy conveys her emotional attachment to Yash more effectively than any number of soliloquies could. Her disoriented state upon seeing that Yash isn't in his room either makes me wonder if the dizziness is due to a sudden onslaught of rapidly escalating worry...
So, so accurate! Once again her actions speak louder than any amount of words ever could, the feeling of disorientation that immediately took over when she realizes that Yash wasn't present in the room makes no sense to her, but that's because she has refused to let her mind decipher what her heart has accepted so long ago. Without knowing it, without wanting to, her heart has become emotionally dependent on Yash, and the depths of despair that she goes through whenever he leaves is a clear indication of that. She might not understand it yet, simply because she hasn't allowed herself to fully embrace these new found emotions, but her heart refuses to wait anymore. It almost seems like Yash is her life line now, the only person connecting her to the real world, in fact he has become her entire world. The desperation and panicked feeling she undergoes as she tries to look for him was beautifully portrayed, and in those few sentences, the intensity and depth of her love for him become crystal clear!
But then, there's the absence of the pictures as well, which appears to have turned the room into a somewhat unfamiliar place for Aarti, and that could also be a contributing factor to her feelings - I was so moved by this part:
If it hadn't been for those faint and shadowy outlines, she might have believed that there had never ever been any photographs...
What a peculiar thought.
Of course they had been there! They had loomed large in her life for a whole year. They had watched her everyday for a whole year. Reproachful. Accusing. And everyday for a whole year she had silently apologized to those pictures...to those memories.
Apologized for her presence...
Aarti's reaction to those imposing pictures was one of guilt and apology? This just makes me want to hug her...She has such a selfless heart! She had been suffering silently, suffocating under the unflinching gaze of the woman in those photographs. No wonder Aarti stayed away from that room as much as she could...and yet, she was apologetic for being Yash's second wife. Heartbreaking. The "What a peculiar thought" caught my attention and I'm not quite sure what to make of it, either. Is that thought a result of Aarti's love for Yash finally creeping up to the surface of her consciousness after growing steadily and silently all this time? Is it her soul's way of saying that she desires a place in that room, which is rightfully hers, but had not truly been hers for all these months? What a peculiar thought indeed.
The fact that it took Aarti a couple of seconds to realize that something was dramatically different in the room is very telling of what her priorities are. When she walks in, her entire focus is on finding Yash and so she doesn't even notice the glaring absence of the photographs from the walls, her heart is only looking for Yash, but it is her mind who alerts her that something is amiss! And what a reaction when she realizes that the pictures are all gone, the way you portrayed the feelings she underwent every time she looked at the pictures of Arpita on the wall, I too just wanted to hug her, such a heart wrenching moment! She really can't seen anyone suffering, her selflessness of never wanting to impose on a relationship that didn't even exist anymore is so true to her character. Anyone would feel completely suffocated if they saw their husband's ex-wife staring down at them from every corner of the room, and it's no wonder she constantly felt like she was a stranger in her room, because she truly believed that she didn't belong there, and I can't even imagine the amount of pain she must have gone through as a result of this realization once her feelings started changing!
The line 'What a peculiar thought' also caught my attention. The thought that crosses her mind, that had it not been for the faint outlines of the photo frames she would have actually believed that there were no photos there, takes her completely by surprise. How could she forget the pictures existed, when they had become a living, breathing part of her life for a whole year? Constantly looking down at her, eternally captured in their smiling form. They had become such a large part of her life but just the one act of them not being there anymore was almost able to wipe out their existence from her mind. And there was so much symbolism in this one paragraph, especially the blurred frame lines that were now the only markers left of Arpita in the room. These blurred lines represents Yash's past, something he has finally been able to overcome, the memories of Arpita no longer take the forefront in his life and so there is no need for all the pictures, the lines of the frames are enough of a reminder of her in his life now.
Who had taken them down? What would Yash ji say?
Aarti felt the room spinning around her...She clutched the chair in front of her for support. What was happening?
And still, she thinks of Yash. She is concerned about the pictures because they meant so much to him; his reaction to the absence of the pictures is going to be one of anger or irritation, she probably thinks. She doesn't know that he himself has taken them down...for her sake. Because he doesn't need them anymore...he needs her.
Oh man the selflessness of this character really knows no bounds. Before she can even feel the relief and happiness at the absence of the pictures, her mind immediately goes to Yash (it was never far from him in the first place, anyways) and suddenly there are only questions about this change, the first one being, who had taken them down? and then the more pressing one, what would Yash say? She knows that the pictures are (or well were) Yash's life, so how can this change be? Silly girl, doesn't she know her husband at all? Who else in the house had the nerve to come in their room and take the pictures off? Everyone knows Yash's obsession with them, so no one would dare do something that will basically ensure a death sentence for them. This was Yash and Yash's work only, and like you said, it was for HER sake, because those pictures don't mean anything any more, not when the real object of his desire is alive and breathing in front of him. And I think towards the end, when she feels the room spinning around her, she might have thought of a certain possibility which left her reeling, because how could life be so wonderful to her once again?
She had been convinced then that it was not humanly possible to feel anymore. Been convinced that that had been the limit of despair. The very edge. But she had been wrong. So utterly wrong. That was not the edge after all. The desolation she had felt when Yash had left on his trip to Lucknow had left her reeling. And it had left her numb. Nothing else had the power to touch her. Her despair was her only reality. It was as though the contours of her despair had acquired a life of their own. It was as though she could see it, feel it, touch it. It was as though she could map it, measure it, weigh it...
This entire paragraph, out of which I decided to take only this portion, is incredible. Aarti's reflection on her despair swept me away, like a person caught in a raging storm. The intensity of her misery after Yash left was obviously nothing like anything she had experienced before, and I imagine it left her feeling weak and empty, emotionless..."it had left her numb" as mentioned above. The tangible quality of her despair...the cause of her despair...Yash. Her husband...who had left her possibly more abruptly than her first husband had...It is obvious that her life fell to pieces when Yash left, even if it was for a little while; his return brought with it the promise of a new life - she felt that something had changed, after all - and with that promise came hope...
But he left again, without a word, and Aarti's fears have come rushing back with an intensity that is too much for her to handle...
Man oh man, I thought I was drowning in Aarti's emotions as I read this. So much despair, so much anguish, this is in itself the truest form of love, one that can make you feel so much pain one moment and yet bring so much happiness the next. The fact that Yash leaving her and going to Lucknow TEMPORARILY brought her more anguish than when Prashant left her FOREVER, highlights the intensity of her feelings, and how everything she has ever felt before just fades in comparison. And this is what scares the life out of her, she is aware of her feelings even though she hasn't consciously accepted them, and she knows that if this time her love is scorned away or that she is rejected she won't be able to take. And that is why she completely refuses to set any hopes on Yash or his feelings, but at the end of the day she is a human being, she has tested raising her expectations from him, and that only ended with her finding out that there really was no limit to despair when it comes to love! Just an incredible piece of insight!
Why was he doing this? What did he want?
What did she want?
Aarti sank to the floor.
Into the depths of despair...
What did he want? That question is going to slowly drive her CRAZY. One minute he is there right next to her filling her with all sorts of happiness, and before she even gets the chance to just relish his presence, he abruptly leaves again, leaving her more alone and empty than ever before!

A brief mention to Gayatri's no-nonsense apology that Aarti is able to understand: this is so sweet! I can just imagine her clipped tone and to-the-point statement...The household needs Aarti, she's not "just a replacement" anymore.
Oh yeah, she has definitely moved past the replacement stage and has managed to not just make her own identity in the house, but in the heart of all it's members as well. And by doing this, in my opinion, she has already surpassed Arpita's position in the family. I loved you for adding this part though, you're making me adore Gayatri more and more, and I hope the show shows something like that as well!

He had been counting every minute, every second. Ten more minutes, and then he would go and fetch her. Five more minutes, and then he would go and fetch her. But it hadn't been necessary. She had come herself!
Now that she was standing inches away from him, he was having trouble speaking, trouble finding the words. All the speeches he had prepared in head had vanished.
But there were so many questions in her eyes...so much uncertainty...
How she can sense that he wanted to talk to her I will never know, because they have an understanding that transcends any sort of rationalization...It cannot be explained, and that's the beauty of their relationship and mutual understanding. It's the soul mate connection, we've all been firm believers that AarYa are true soul mates, but Mira, you continue PROVING that through your beautiful words! She tries to delay the inevitable but knows that she must face him, and so she goes to him, unsure of what he wants from her.
Yash's anxiety and impatience, on the other hand, is extremely endearing. To think that he was counting every second of her absence and that he was actually going to fetch her if she didn't show up after exactly five more minutes - ah, that made me smile. But of course, as soon as she is in front of him, he is rendered speechless...
And then, Yash, by virtue of being Yash, acts impulsively, with good intentions and a sweet gesture, and ends up messing up the situation he had probably planned out so carefully in his mind earlier! Haha, poor Aarti and poor Yash.
Poor Aarti. Poor Yash. Four words that basically sum both of them up to a tee right now! It's in moments like these where communicate gap can become the biggest hindrance. These two are pros at reading each others' eyes and expressions, but what happens when they refuse to acknowledge what they see in them just because of the terrible fear that they might be wrong. They're both at a point in which their feelings for each other have gone way beyond the assumption stage, they can't be taken for granted, and neither can they expect the other person to understand them, mainly because they have no idea how the other one will react to them!
And I have to say, I absolutely adore the Yash you have sketched out in this FF, he is truly acting like a teenager who has realized that he is in love for the first time, real, true love! He has even prepared ad practiced what he wanted to say to her ๐ but as usual when she appears in front on him, all his well versed worlds leave him, and he has to start all over again. It's such a natural situation, our words do up leaving us when we need them the most, flawlessly done!
Aarti recognized the stamp paper. These were legal documents. She felt as though Yash had hit her.
Once again, the parallels/action-reaction of Yash shocking Aarti with the legal documents and then Aarti shocking Yash with her decision to "not consider letting Yash adopt Ansh" were so cute, primarily because they both jump to conclusions so quickly. "Clumsy idiot" totally made my day! ๐ Trademark RTA (Reaction to Aarti) right there, the "closing eyes because I didn't think things through before acting in front of Aarti"!
I think this was hands down my favorite line from the entire part! I swear when I read legal document, I could feel Aarti's heart completely stop, and when you follow it up with the line She felt as though he had hit her, could not have asked for a better reaction. I swear if Yash hadn't immediately noticed her reaction (he's a clumsy idiot alright, but thank god he has a strong sense of perception when it comes to her), and tried to explain the situation better, she would have complete shattered. Just the thought that he might want a divorce from her is enough to yank the ground from beneath her feet!
And Trademark RTA, what a thought! ๐คฃ We'll be seeing a lot more of this as their story progresses, a lot more clumsy idiot moments left in store for Yash!
Oh, damage control...I love the way that Yash goes about trying to quickly explain before Aarti can misunderstand his intentions. He simply takes her hands, as if it's the most natural thing in the world (and I suppose it IS the most natural thing in the world, after seeing a hint of that in last week's episodes) and that is his gesture of comfort and reassurance.
"...Aarti? Will you think about it?"
That's where he'd been all day. With lawyers...drawing up these papers...All the time she'd been wondering and worrying...he'd been doing this...
"Aarti?... Please say something. Can you at least say that you'll think about it?" Yash repeated.
He looked anxious...he looked anxious!
"No..."
Yash felt as though she had hit him...
I love love love this part...For once, Yash is the one chattering away, with a hint of the humor that I find so adorable in your Yash ("They are, of course, full of legal jargon") and Aarti is simply standing there, with one realization swirling through her head: She'd been worried sick, and he'd gone to the lawyers and stayed there all day! Haha, how cute are these two? Perhaps there's a tinge of frustration in Aarti's thoughts at that point, but of course the relief and happiness she feels is probably much more. Damn, Yash's anxiety has been SO adorable ever since this FF started, and here the cuteness reaches new heights! He has to ask her twice, anxiously (and Aarti notices this, awww!) and probably because he notices that she isn't responding to him, which I'm guessing is not very much like Aarti normally behaves. The "No..." that leaves her mouth, I'm imagining, is a soft, gentle word, with a deliberate glance at him that is meant to convey her decisiveness about the matter...It makes sense to respond that way from her point of view, since she knows that she doesn't have to consult with anyone or take her time deciding whether or not to sign the papers. It's very sweet how, once again, a simple squeeze of the hands is a gesture of reassurance and "let me finish speaking" at the same time.
A flustered Yash is truly the cutest thing ever! He is speaking a mile a minute just to put her at ease, to dispel whatever thought that came to her mind immediately after seeing the papers. And it's such a normal reaction him to say whatever is coming to his mind right then and there, because he's so anxious, Yash Scindia is anxious, about her reaction. He needs her to understand what this means to him, what their family means to him, what she means to him. This is him taking the first step in reaching out to her, and he only needs to hear some words of reassurance in return, just so that he knows that there is hope for them, for their relationship. This hope is the only thing anchoring him to the ground right now, and he need Aarti to say something, anything for him to continue clinging on to it! And like you said, what a role reversal, suddenly Yash is all about words, and Aarti tries to explain everything she is feeling using one hand gesture! ๐
"No...It's not what you think. That is, I don't need to think about it. I don't need to read the papers. And I certainly don't need any lawyers to tell me what to do...My answer is yes. Yes to all of it..."
And I fell in love with Aarti all over again (millionth time!) because this is SO very like what our Aarti would say! At least, I feel like this is something she would say, LOL.
I knew this was coming, I knew she wouldn't even think twice before signing the papers, let alone let a lawyer look at them (I swear when Yash was going on and on about her getting someone to consult them for her own satisfaction, I was like dude you're wasting your breath, it's never going to come to that). For her, just the fact that he took this first step, meant the entire world and more, she didn't need anyone to tell her what to do anymore. Her husband was reaching out to her and she'll be damned if she didn't grab him back with both her hands!
The following part until the very end is SO freaking adorable that I can't help but mention it all!
Aarti frantically looking for a pen, dumping everything out of her purse unceremoniously in her frenzied search for said pen...Coming up "triumphantly" with the pen: LOL, cute, cute, cute!
Oh, but it gets even more cute! At this point, I'm sitting here laughing: She came toward him and gently took the papers that he had been clutching to his chest like a life-vest. She knelt on the floor, near a coffee table, carefully straightening out the papers that he had crumpled.
And that is how nervous Yash was...๐ Nervous enough to crumple the papers that are so important, leaving Aarti to smooth them out! ๐
From the depths of despair to the ultimate highs of happiness, that is where Yash has managed to take her in a matter of minutes, and she doesn't know whether to laugh or cry and so she is doing both, and so is he, and this whole scene is so heartwarming that it makes me want to cry as well!
He knelt beside her and put his hand over hers just as she was about to sign the first document...
"I think you should read them once...at the very least."
"I don't need to, " she said, looking into his eyes, "I trust you."
..."I trust you Yash," she repeated.
And this time Yash could not stop himself.
"Aarti..." He managed to breathe out before pulling her into his arms.
The pen fell from Aarti's fingers and the papers scattered everywhere.
LOVE this. It's so wonderful to have a couple whose every word and every gesture is so meaningful...An exchange like the one at the end of this part becomes so, so intimate because of the unspoken meanings behind the actions and the few words that are actually spoken. It's just so beautiful. The intensity of Aarti's unspoken words as and after she repeats "I trust you Yash" is all it takes for Yash's self-control to collapse - just imagining those eyes of her as she looks at him, speaking directly to his soul...and the way he literally breathes out her name affected me the most...it's like this is all he wants, and this is all she needs...If they have each other, then everything is all right.
First thing first, she called him YASH, just Yash...all the formality between them disappears into thin air, they aren't strangers anymore, there is nothing holding them back, they've truly crossed that threshold and have reached the point where they are ready to take that final plunge into a full fledged relationship! I trust you, Yash, this is everything I wanted and so much more, in four words she has sealed everything that they have! Trust is the most important factor in any relationship, and the fact that this one is building on one that is so infallible, makes my heart race because it is so freaking perfect. Each step they've been taking whether away or towards each other in the past year have all been leading up to this moment, where everything just falls in piece, and in that moment where he takes her in his arms, everything around them disappear and even if it for a little while, everything is perfect! ๐
