Described as the biggest historical prime time serial on Indian television, "Dharti Ka Veer Yodha -- Prithviraj Chauhan" on Star Plus will now be seen in a new avatar.

Actor Rajat Tokas, who hitherto essayed the character of the legend, has now been replaced by Anas Rashid. It was not an easy decision for script director Meenakshi Sagar as the 14-year-old Rajat's popularity and chemistry with children had incr eased the viewer-ship of the serial.

"I am aware about Rajat's huge fan following, but when I have to show the wedding of Prithviraj Chauhan then I cannot show a 14-year-old boy exchanging garland with a mature girl," said Meenakshi at a press conference in the Capital on Tuesday.

Stating that he had not gone into the historic details before enacting the role, Rajat said: "I only knew that Prithviraj Chauhan had fought a number of battles with Muhammad Ghori but on the last occasion he lost the battle against his arch-rival. Although I was blank about Prithviraj's life, I started learning more about his mindset and emotions while essaying his character. For the past one and a half years I have been playing the main character and have missed all the festivals and birthdays of my family members. So I will take a break for one month and then hopefully come in a new role in another serial."

Anas said he feels proud to play the main role as he had studied about Prithviraj Chauhan in school.

"Although I am a cool guy, the moment I adorn the Rajput warrior's dress and hold a replica of his sword I feel like a real life character," he said.

😕 😕 😕 i can't believe that the scriptwriter made the decision to change Rajat.

I just feel that even Rajat is not so happy about the change like us, but in one way i am happy that he will take a break and spent some time with his family. I seriously don't like the way they suddenly changed Rajat and now only a conference thats all 😕 😕 😕 . I not happy with Sagar at all, really bad decision. I will never forgive them 😭
