In those days, it was common for bards to exaggerate while praising kings. Chandar was Prithvi's friend and was also a bard.
I remember reading that poet Bhushan was a bard in the court of king Chhatrashal. In one poem, he wrote that gods Brahma, Vishnu and Mahesh get afraid and run away when they see Chhatrashal coming out with his weapons - clear case of exaggeration. It is possible that Chandar also exaggerated Prithvi's qualities.
Moreover, research shows that "Prithvi Raj Raso" has changed over the years.

chand has tried to glorify this episode... however how much he tried.. there r some loop holes.... " broken bangles, sanyo fainting, sanyo in a shock, sanyo not wanting to leave kannoj " something is wrong somewhere....

n after reading abt all the 7 marriages of prithvi, i feel only indravathi actually loved him n married him. I know many will be angry with this post.. but pls these r my views... I have read raso with positive outlook for prithvi. but as i said there r some loopholes which i am not able to understand.

indravati married him!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!😲...

but laks if sanyo didn't want to marry him..dont u think prc and sanyo love story wouldn't have been that famous..i mean lot of kings kidnapped many princess...whats the big deal in it... i think she loved him but didn't want to hurt her dad's feelings😕

Kiran,

In your project if you point out positive qualities of Prithvi, then your teachers who will evaluate your projects will point out his negative qualities. This is because the teachers would have read the books written by the historians who criticize Prithvi.
Therefore, find out exact reasons what arguments these books give against Prithvi. And then think what arguments you have against their arguments.
When we talk of good and bad acts, then any act can be good or bad depending on two things - 1. intention 2. result.
The same thing can be good according to intention and bad according to result, and vice-versa.

Prithvi forgave and released Ghori. Prithvi's intention was good - in fact very noble. But the result was bad. This is because Ghori cheated Prithvi. However, one must keep in mind that if we do something, then we can only guess what the result will be - we cannot know it exactly because nobody knows future. Knowing what will happen is even more difficult if what will happen depends on what somebody else(and not what we alone) do. In this case, the result depended on what Ghori did. If Ghori had really made friendship with Prithvi, then historians would be praising Prithvi.

very good point👏..

but dont u think trusting ghori itself was his mistake.... prithvi never supported bhim dev and ajmer's friendship bcoz he never trusted bhim dev... then how could he trust a foreigner..😕

because BD had repeatedly conspired against ajmer and betrayed someshwar therefore prithvi had stopped trusting him completely. ghori was prithvi's first encounter with a foreigner..and from a king's perspective, forgiving a foreigner and promoting peace between the two kingdoms would be the ideal decision. this would make prithvi's kingdom stronger as he would receive alliance from a foreign king and would prevent future wars between the two kingdoms. unfortunately, the opposite of what prithviraj wanted actually happened 😭 that is why prithviraj's greatest weakness was that he was too soft and believed everyone was as noble as he was.

good point shona...

but dont u think believing a stranger is worse than believing an enemy... atleast u know your enemy's mentality..
i think somewhere he was over confident...
u know the dialogs like...i'll change the fate or i dont have any weakness... this attitude usually brings negative effect...🤢
u r right.. may be he believed ghori bcoz he wanted to give him a chance.. plus i think he was over confident that his judgment cannot go wrong...

yeah and his descision to forgive Ghori would (according to him but fate had something else in store) give him the opportunity to expand ajmer and delhi's power. why would he choose to not forgive him and continue fighting and shedding more blood..when the king himself is on his knees and asking for forgiveness. and yeah prithvi's over-confidence has lead to negative consequences..and i think prithvi's descision to forgive ghori resembles somie's descision to forgive bhimdev after their first war. suggests that both father and son were alike.
