Hei, after writting the post, I felt that I am taking it too much seriously! It doesn't matter if King Prithviraj Chauhan had many wives other than Sanyogita, does it?

But still I don't understand that why is it only about Prithviraj and Sanyogita we read in school? And if it was a third kidnapped wife and 8th, how it became so special to be immortalized!

I want to find out that how much was written by Chand Bardai. If he mentioned only about Sanyogita, then it was only one wife for Prithvi.

Anyway, take it easy and enjoy the serial Prithviraj Chauhan. IT ROCKS!

I am just sharing my views as there are so many contradictions in history of prc that no one aspect can be termed as reality.
I do think Prithvi married only Sanyo. As Prithvi lived very short life, it make no sense that how in such a short life, he married so many times, had done so many wars with gohri, bheem dev etc, went for khazane ki khoj and all !
As raso is corrupted by different inaccurate stories, may be many were added later....so I feel Prithvi had only one wife Sanyo. thats what I think.

Well there are different versions some say that PRC had 1 wife some say that he had 7 wives!! Well it's hard to decide as there are different versions stating different facts & we are in the 22nd century & not 11th century ...If we were we would have known the exact facts...so it's no point arguing on this issue whether he had 1 or 7 wives!!!

Ya thats true, in olden times eperors and kings used to have many wives for example Nur Jahan was twentieth wife of Mughal emp Jahangir and Jahangir was her second husband.
But as for PRC, the case is different as he lived very short life, in which he had fought many battles and faced many challenges. So I dont think thai he had so many wives.

Right! But Akbar was not a Hindu king, and Muslim religion allows to have many wives.

Its true that in modern times we think it unethical that one man having more than one wife but in olden times, it was a common practice.

I dont agree that if Prithvi had 7 wives then it was his generosity. But ya there may be reasons behind that if he had married 7 times. But still I think stories of Prithvi marrying 7 women, are not true as we know history of prc was distorted by many ppl.

Chand clearly explains the situations in which he marries them...

Love story of sanyo is famous bcos:

1) she was a stunning beauty and well educated

2) Prithvi didn't have much trouble marrying other girls..However the war that followed after abducting sanyo was very long n prithvi lost many of his generals in that war....

3) Prithvi loved sanyo more than his other wives.... It is said that inchini - his second wife was so angry bcos of this that she wanted to leave prithvi n go

Thanks a lot Lakshmi for sharing the info from raso. Is there the same info in all versions of raso abt Prithvi aving 7 wives or are there any contradictions as well???
I have request, whenever you get time, plz do post story of prc and sanyo as given in raso.

I agree with u. I don't know How many wifes Prithvi had one or 7/8, But his Love for Sanyogita was immortal. Hindu Kings were allowed to have many wifes and I think if he had more than one wife it had been only political reasons. He Loved only Sanyogita. So no reason to get hurt. And we yet don't know if Sagar's are going to show any of his other wifes or not.
Maybe they are going to show about Indravati (believed to be one of Prithvi's wifes) that's why they have shown her character in the serial. But I am not sure of it so those of you don't like her don't take to heart.

I dont think that Sagars will show Prithvi marrying other wives. If they wanted to show, they would have shown it earlier i.e, before Sanyo. Now after falling in love with Sanyo and after marrying her, if now Prithvi starts marrying other girls, it will not make sense...so audience will not accept or digest it.
