Serpent in Paradise !!

Pratigya steps into her room looking forlorn ,carrying a bundle of baby clothes ..a tragic reminder of Kesar's shattered dreams and aspirations...Krishna who was dressing up standing in front of the mirror [Why are Thakur's Men so interested in Mirror while the women are never shown in front of the mirror] ..comes up to Pratigya with a puzzled and questioning look..Pratigya starts on about the emotional bereavement of Kesar and the trauma she is undergoing , Krsihna's eyes flickers for a moment but he remains impassive ...Pratigya says " Kesar had knitted all this clothes for her child but ....Krishna looks discomfited and he looks away for a sec Pratigya continues" But Now she can never become a mother "..Krishna looks stricken but under control ...Pratigya " So she gave this for our child "...Krishna is flabbergasted and in an disbelieving tones, he asks "She gave and u just took it and came ,My child is not a joke, My child will not wear the clothes given in charity,My baby will wear only new and fresh clothes "..Pratigya is shocked at his outburst while Krishna is getting hot under the collars..Pratigya is stunned by his callous words..She replies "What are u Saying Krishna, Didi has lost her child, she is very sad and she has given these clothes with lot of love for our unborn child [Krishna is fuming and getting impatient]..Doesn't it matter to u ?"...Krishna swipes his face with his hand in anger,making an effort to control himself.."Whether it matters to me or not, why does it matter to u so much *A pertinent Point *why are u taking it out on me..u are acting as if I did something rotten with her [Pratigya looks on in shock]Is it my fault..?? The fault is Shakthi's ..it is because of him that everything happened...then why shud I suffer for his crime and why shud my baby suffer for his crime ..Pratigya has closed her eyes and is looking crushed but also trying to retain control over her emotions..She succeeds...Krishna is not finished yet..giving a defiant look at her , he continues "My child will not wear this clothes,My child will wear new clothes..Do u think I am incapable of providing for our child "..Pratigya does not answer directly but provides the answer indirectly which completely goes over the head of Krishna " Allright , we will not talk about it " and throws down the clothes on the centre table..she further continues to rub him the wrong way ..she starts by saying " And Listen, Today The Mathurs are coming to finalize the alliance ...[Krishna looks surprised] An Incensed Krishna replies " So much has happened and FIL did not even think of informing me ..As soon as he got a new SIL..the old one has lost his value isn't it ??"...Pratigya tries to reassure him and says " What are u saying Krishna, Papa had called up to invite us home,But I refused" Krishna swiftly "Why did u refuse ?? [Pratigya is taken aback]Did u ask me before u refused the invitation"..Pratigya is drawn to reply exasperatedly " what was the need to ask, the situation in the house is such that , I did not feel it would be appropriate to go , so I refused "..Krishna takes a deep breath , tries unsuccessfully to rein in his temper and explodes " whatever the situation, that is not my concern..I am ur Husband, U shud have asked me at least once"..he walks off leaving a confused and hurt Pratigya behind...

Night Time

KP are lying on the bed and trying to sleep...but Krishna has other things on his mind..he slowly turns and places his hand on Pratigya..but Pratigya gently stops him and says "Its very late, go to sleep " Krishna turns her towards him rather roughly, Pratigya softly tells him "I am tired today and am not feeling well too ,I wish to sleep.. U too sleep "Krishna lets go of her and sits up on bed and switches on the light...Realizing something is amiss, Pratigya too gets up asks bewilderedly "Why?? What happened?? why have u switched on the lights..Dont u want to sleep "..Krishna gives her a sharp look at this "Why are chanting Sleep,sleep ..is it so vital ??"..Pratigya is looking askance ..You have changed !! All this love dove was for couple of days only !!Pratigya heaves a sigh and moves to placate him.."Krishna , If I am tired and want to sleep, cant I sleep early "..Krishna gets a twinge in his conscience "Just because I want to sleep today doesn't mean that I do not love u anymore, why are u making a mountain out of a mole hill ?"Krishna "Big issues or small issues, I do not know all this..all I know is that u have changed..hadn't u changed, u would never have stopped me from touching u..tell me will any wife stop her husband from touchng her..or shud I get permission from the government for touching you..[stumbling in his intensity and rightly anticipating that Pratigwa may enter into teacher mode] forestalls her "And now dont start giving me lectures,My head is already heated up,I donno what to do and what not to do [ A typical condition of males after marriage ]..All I know is that u dont love me....After releasing all his pent up anger...He gives a stealthy sideways glance at his beebi to note the impact on her tiny heart, but beebi is thoroughly enjoying his performance and is beaming a appreciative smile his way, thoroughly disgusted by the lack of expected reaction, he turns away but unable to look away for long steals a look again at his wife's smiling face...Krishna goes into a huff...

Seeking to sooth his ruffled feathers, Pratigya moves close to him..Holds his hand possessively and says Indulgently "You are stubborn" [resting her head on his shoulders] and also a lovable rascal, but [holding his cheeks in mock anger]...I will not relent to ur demands everytime..Krishna's eyes which was blazing in anger earlier has undergone a transformation and is now smoldering in desire as her words wipes away the anger ..He pulls her towards her saying that is big deal..and Pratigya happily assents to his assertion which brings out a challenge from Krishna..he dares her to stop him if she can....A challenge which she is happy to lose !!

Krishna has so far been an excellent son,an exemplery Man and an outstanding lover but he always has come up short when he had to be the husband....He is gradually awakening to his inadequacies but is reluctant to face them...Like all Men, he is barricading himself with defensiveness,self pity,and constant assurances of his importance....That he has no idea how to surmount this seemingly unsurmountable obstacle is obvious ....That he seeks to prove his self worth by way of physical pleasure is painful to watch..for he does not realise that this fix is only temproary and for permanent cure, he has to step out of his comfort zone and break all the chains binding him to Sajjan Singh ....Only when he does that will Krishna Singh Emerge otherwise he will forever be Krishna Singh S/O Sajjan Singh ....Ofc the path will not be strewn with rosy petals..there will be thorns,sharp stones,undulating curves,inclines and sudden dips..He will fall,stumble may even contemplate giving up ..but knowing Krishna ...we can say , he may retire or retreat temprorily but he will never give up until he has conquered this olympus..and conquer it ,he will ...for what else he can do ..with a strong woman like Pratigya as his soul mate..he is bound to succeed

Pratigya as the single minded girl focused on another trouble, feeling the pain and empathy of the traumatised Kesar was alright..but Pooja was good ,more than good when she cajoled and mothered Krishna out of his bad mood...She has come a long way but still has many more miles to go ..
